Hello fanfiction readers. This is my sad, serious little oneshot about the death of Galbatorix's first dragon. R&R!
A silence as cold as the air enfolded the night. On a thick sheet of ice, umelted in the summer, sorrow was concieved and blood stained the ground. Not a sound came from the camp that was placed there. The remains of the camp.It was a wreck with tents crushed on the ground and debris everywhere. As the wind blew, the air smelled of fire and death. Surrounding the area were the bodies of dead Urgals. Some of them were burned and others had been pierced by the edges of blades and arrows. Thier weapons and shields lay next to them. They would most likely be not be remebered by anyone, not even their own kind.
Nearby lay two huge and beautiful dragons.Blood shining on their magnficant scales and their eyes showed no signs of life. Arrows peirced their bent and broken wings. Next to them were the bodies of thier Riders, two young and handsome elves. Thier flawless faces had cuts covering them and they had been stabbed by the short swords of thier enemy. These two groups had fought with everything they had, and they both equally fell. All except one.
At the edge of the ice, seperated from everyone, a young man craddled the head of his mighty dragon. Her scales were a deep purple and she was beautiful even in death. Her groans of pain broke the silence. Her Rider, young man, held her in his arms and a placed hand over the dragon's wound, a arrow that had pierced her heart. She helplessly tried to reach the wound, but finally gave up. She just continued her groaning. The man still had his hand on the wound and was desperatly muttering magical words in the Ancient Language. When he realized they were having no effect on the fatal injury, he broke down in sobs.
"I'm sorry, I-I can't, nothing's working," he stuttered as he rocked her head in his arms.
You...tried. That's all that matters...you tried.
"No, I'll keep trying. I promise, I'm going to save you." He put his hand on the wound again and put all the power he could muster into his worlds. He almosted passed out from all the energy it took and he quickly cut off the flow of magic. The dragon moved its head to look him in the eyes.
Stop. Nothing...you can do. If you keep it up...you're going to kill yourself.
"But you can't die. Not now."
There is nothing you can do. It is my time to leave...Noooo." Her body shook and she scratched at her wound desperatly.
"There has to be something I can do. Anything."
You have fought bravely and...I am proud of you...but you still have much to learn.
"Please don't leave me..."
I'm sorry Galbatorix...I can't... She let out one more agonizing groan and went limp. All signs of life left her violet eyes. Galbatorix froze, not believing what just happened. All this had happened because him and his friends were foolish enough to think their powers were strong enough to protect them. But they hadn't, and that had cost him hi dragon's life. He let go of her head and stood up. With tears running down his eyes, he turned around. He started to walk away, but looked back one last time.
"I love you."
