Only Time

                               "Who knows- Only Time,"

Isabel lay in her bed looking at the ceiling. She hadn't even bothered changing clothes after the funeral. She just lay there looking. Missing. Why is this happening? She asked herself. Alex wasn't meant to die. If didn't call him… The questions kept running through head. Guilt hung over her like a black storm cloud. Pain pierced her heart like a dagger. Tears stained her sheets and face. Her wet mascara hung under her eyes. She sniffled as she rolled over to face the closed window.

~Who can say where the road goes, where the day flows-only time.

And who can say if your love grows as your heart chose-only time.~

Isabel wiped the mascara for the millionth time. She finally got out of bed and walked to her bathroom. She turned the water on and ran her hands under it to rinse her face. She again sniffled, looking around the room. Her eyes got caught site of her razor. She leaned over and picked it up. Looking at its metallic beauty. "I'm gonna be with you Alex." She said above a whisper.

~Who can say why your heart sighs, as your love flies- only time.

And who can say why your heart cries, when your love lies- only time.~

She walked back to her bedroom and sat on the bed. The razor was gripped tightly in her hands. With her free right hand she opened her nightstand drawer and pulled out a picture of her and Alex. "Alex, soon I'll be there soon." Isabel raised the razor above her soft skin. "Wait for me."

"Isabel stop!" hearing the voice. That voice made her drop  the razor.

          "No, you're not real,"

"Look at me Izzy," a cold hand touched her shoulder and she slowly turned to face Alex.

"No," she backed away. "You're dead."

          "I'm not,"

          "What?"

          "Not yet,"

"No. I just got back from the funeral, I saw them put you in the ground,"

          "That wasn't me,"

"What the hell do you mean it wasn't you? Alex-" he cut her off by pressing his lips to hers.

~Who can say when the roads meet, that love might be in your heart.

And who can say when the day sleeps if the night keeps all your heart.

          Night keeps all your heart.~

"This is a dream isn't?" Isabel concluded.

          "I'm so sorry Isabel,"

"No! Alex…what happened? Why are you dead?"

          "I wasn't paying attention,"

          "Is it because of me?"

"No. God no. Isabel doesn't think it's your fault. Its not. Don't think that. Ever,"

          "That's all I've been thinking,"

"I know," he touched her cheek. "Don't kill yourself Is."

          "Is that why you're here?"

"You'll be with me, but not for a long time,"

          "Will it get better?"

          "In time,"

          "Will I see you again?"

          "Maybe. I don't know yet,"

          "I love you Alex,"

          "I love you too Isabel,"

~Who can say if your love grows, as you heart chose- only time. And

Who can say where the road goes, where the day flows- only time.~

Isabel jumped awake in tears. She was still in her black dress. Her blond hair was messed up and stuck to her face with sweat.  "Alex?" she looked around her room. No one was there. She panted and fell back to her pillow. She looked up at the ceiling again.

          KNOCK, KNOCK

"Come in," she choked out. Max walked in the door.

"Are you okay? I heard you moaning,"

"Yeah fine. I just wanna be alone some a while longer,"

          "Okay, if you need anything-"

          "I know,"

Max nodded and walked out of the room. Isabel got up and walked to her dresser. The mirror reflected her window. For a split second she saw someone standing by the window. She turned around and saw no one.
