October 29th, 2005 -- Hotaru -- Characters (C) CLAMP -- One shot x4.
I may turn this into a larger story. Bleh, tell me what 'cha think.
Happy Early Halloween!

"Puu!"

Forceful winds brought them to their knees, swooning among pieces heard of the aggravated Kurogane's swearing.

A mage, a ninja, a, well, a thing…, an archeologist and a Princess.

The least likely group of travelers, looking for the least likely thing.

Fragments of feathers resembling shattered, scattered shards of memories.

The unlikely held leader, a boy of fourteen or fifteen, held out his arm and turned to smile warmly at it's beholder; a girl of the same age. She smiled brightly back, mind the absent look her emerald orbs carried.

The 'thing', by the name of Mokona Modoki, gazed from its perch on the ninja Kurogane's head.

Much to the soon displeasure of the young group's ears.

The mage, Fai D. Flowright, smile cheerfully, if not affectionately at Mokona and the ninja.

Though it's hard to see why; fighting was common, and no special notice was taken of their actions.

Thus having been assured their travel had been successful, they got their first glance of the country.

Ornaments had been hung in numerous places, and lighting of oranges to blacks filled yards.

Gutted vegetables, having stereotype faces awash them were set out proudly.

And to their unanimous surprise, ghosts and other gruesome sights were skipping, trotting, laughing and running gaily while making the way down the streets.

Sakura, the holder of the emerald eyes and auburn hair gracing lightly above her shoulders, pressed against the leader; chocolate brown hair falling just over his divine amber eyes.

She let out a small murmur, patiently waiting for the incoming movement of defense.

"Syaoran…"

In response he brought her to his chest and held up his sword; an item he earned in the last country.

A few people took notice and cheered at the display before moving on.

Syaoran moved his eyebrow up wonderingly at the other members.

Kuro shrugged.

Fai nudged Mokona with a half-hearted smile on his face.

"Yuko-sama told me of this celebration, commonly called 'Halloween.' People dress up at spirits once a year and go around getting candy," Mokona stated proudly as a reply to Fai's gesture.

Without time for their trail of thought to scuttle off, they were being bombarded by children, each admiring their authentic costumes.

Whispers of joyful, "So real!" and "Where did you get this?" dazed them.

One came upon the misfortune, however, and laying a candy-stricken palm on a lace of Sakura's dress, and the consequence and being faced by the devoted protector.

Kurogane didn't waste a second getting into the mood. "Why, they're midget warriors…!"

Mokona shook waved his finger at the inspired pair. "They're just here for the candy."

Kurogane blew out harshly, disappointed at not being able to fight unnecessarily.

A firework exploded in the background, setting on the candy wired children in an eruption of cheers.

Sakura clung once more to Syaoran's hand, and he squeezed it in return, though there was nothing to longer be frightened of.

Lush colors had followed the thunderous blast, setting off in different areas- sometimes in shapes of flowers, and yet mainly random, passionate bursts.

Her voice caught in her throat, absently petting a young girl dressed as a Princess's hair.

"So this is Halloween…"
