Hey all =) I know, I know, I should be working on After the Flames. It's coming along, I swear! But this popped into my head so I just had to run with it. It's a little poem about Skinner, taking place right after he saved Tom from the flamethrower. Hope you like it, please R&R! BTW, I realize a fear of fire is actually called Arson phobia, but I think Pyrophobia sounds better.

Disclaimer: If you think I actually own anything you're nuts.

Fire always was his greatest fear

Yet somehow he managed to persevere

Against the thing which he dreaded most

To save a man to whom he was close.

The flames had been all around

They seemed to pursue him, much like a hound

Searing his skin

Was he being punished for some evil sin?

He tried to pray, to repent for his misdeeds

But it seemed as if he would not be forgiven for his creeds

He let out a scream as he fell to his knees

He couldn't help but be glad he had given Mina a squeeze.

Looking up he found his friend to be well

But happy as he was, he could not dwell

On the pleasant thought

For no matter how hard he fought

He could not keep the pain at bay

Perhaps now the League would know he would not betray

Any whom he managed to befriend.

As he lay there thinking about his untimely end

He saw the boy trying to give him a hand

It was then he managed to understand

While most tended to find him annoying at best

Sawyer was obviously different from the rest.

Seeing the tears in the young man's eyes

He did his best to put up a guise

Joking about the way he was painfully burned

He was secretly overjoyed someone was finally concerned.

Perhaps he was right to have faced his fears.
