Every night, it's the same.

As I lay down in my bed, the starlight dancing through the translucent curtains, casting a soft glow on my skin, I promise myself that I won't wake up from my dreams.

I know it's a sad, pathetic joke to believe that, even for a moment. But I do, just a little, each time I make that promise.

Every night, when my eyes close and I drift off to sleep, I'm taken back there. To that time, that place, when things were much more complicated, and somehow, so much simpler.

You're illuminated by the Moon's light, dancing under its laughing gaze. You smile widely...

Irresistible, that smile!

Trying to be cute, you tease me. 'Catch me! Kiss me! Love me!' you cry, skipping just out of my reach.

The chase has begun. I won't stop. I can't stop.

You always let me capture you.

I embrace you, hold you in my arms as though I intend for us to never part... 'Even if the world should crumble around us,' I vow, 'I'll never let you go!'

You're so happy... You touch my cheek, those lovely eyes of yours memorizing the details of my brow, my eyelashes, my nose, my lips...

This is my dream, remember? You love me in my dreams, Odango.

We both smile then...

But, with a gentle kiss, we're forced to part. The Moon is gone, shattered like a mirror, the fragments falling around us like dying comets.

Only darkness remains.

I'm alone, left with your fading scent, your fading warmth, calling your name, hoping to be reunited without the Moon's light for guidance...

And, naturally, this is the point where Healer walks in to snap about my laziness, and force me out of bed.

If not her, than Maker would be the one. Unconsciously, they steal me away from my dreams, before I'm ever able to find you again.

Right now, I can't even laugh, but...

I'll surely see you again. Not in body, however- I don't think I can withstand seeing you beside your 'Mamo-chan' again, even if he really makes you happy.

But, at the end of each day, I'll eagerly sleep, waiting for the dream to come back as it always does.

Someday, I'll sleep long enough to find you in the darkness, to reunite us, to remain in your love.

On that day, I don't think I'll wake up ever again.
