After I wake up in the morning by the annoying sun I turn over to see you watching me with a cigarette in your mouth, I usually begin my routine of pointless questions with your just as pointless answers.
"Why do you always have a cigarette in your mouth?"
"You know I don't always have a cigarette in my mouth." You answer with your husky voice as I realize what you are referring to and blush.
"Pervert......" I mumble as I stir around in the covers and sit up.
You laugh a little and brush my hair in front of my face as I slump into your chest for support.
"Why do we have to wake up?"
"Because we both have jobs." You answer automatically before you take another drag.
"Why don't we go take the day off? Go cloud watching or something....."
"Because we can't and you don't like the way I watch clouds." You smile at me as I sigh at remembrance of last time I took you cloud watching.
We didn't really watch the clouds.
I turn over so that I'm facing you as you put in a new cigarette but before you light it I put my mouth on the other end and smirk lazily.
"Why are you so tiresome this morning?" You ask.
"Isn't that my line?" I let go of you cigarette and pull it out of you mouth so we can kiss.
You wrap your arms around my bare shoulders and pull me into you before I nuzzle into your neck enjoying the warmth. Maybe I can get a short nap before I have to start the day.
But then again there are some things that even I find even more enjoyable than a nap.
"Why is the sky blue Asuma-sensei?"
"Not this again Shikamaru." You groan as I wrap my arms around you.
"Why is the grass green?"
"Shikamaru....."
"If the ninja in Konoha leaves the Leaf at three in the morning and the Ninja of the Sand leaves the Sand at five in the afternoon and both heading for the land of the waves, who would get there first?"
"Shika-koi please." You finally call me my pet name before you kiss me on the forehead sighing in defeat. "We can go watch the clouds after I get off of duty today okay."
"Really watch clouds?" I glare at you lazily, you are the only person who can turn such an easy peaceful habit into something people shouldn't being doing outside.
"Hai."
I give you a small grin before I get up from the bed and I find my cloths I brought over for the night. You watch me trudge along before you make your way out of bed with a cigarette in your mouth.
I wait for you to get ready as we make our way out of your apartment. With a quick kiss we depart in our separate directions, you towards your new subordinates and me to my new job under the Hokage.
Too bad I didn't know you were lying to me this morning.
"Seriously Asuma you can be so tiresome." I turn over in the bed as you kiss my neck. "I really did want to watch the clouds."
"But this is so much better Shika-koi." You whisper in my ear before you kiss me again.
Well I guess I would just have to continue my morning habits.
"Asuma-koi?"
"Hn?"
"Why do the birds sing?"
"Shika........"
