Gamebreakers Chapter II: An Unlikely Team Up

"The young one's unlocked his first few... upgrades."

"Good, good. The more, the better. If he gets stronger, so will the other Heroes."

"You do realize he will hate Motoyasu and the other Heroes after this, right?"

"...Yes, but at this moment all I care about is keeping Naofumi and Raphtalia safe from the Corruption that will most definitely appear."

"I thought you didn't care about the Corruption."

"I don't. What I do care about, though, is the safety of my favorite worlds. My main sources of entertainment."

"Right… Oh, I almost forgot! The System wants to join the young one on his newest adventure."

"...I'll allow it. Just make sure that they don't get… involved with him."

Ryuuto had no idea what to think when he woke up. His inn door was being knocked on, forcing the teen to get up from his bed as he sighed. Annoyed, he walked over to the door and opened it to see a Royal Knight at the door. "What's going on? Who wakes someone up this early?"

"My sincerest apologies, Sir Hero. I do understand you'd be tired after leveling solo yesterday. But the King has issued a summons." The Knight said.

Ryu tried his best to keep himself from groaning out loud. "What for?"

"Well, Sir Hero, I don't know the exact details; but it is said that the Shield Hero has been arrested for sexual assault against his party member." The Knight's answer snapped Ryu awake like someone hooked caffeine directly into his body. Naofumi was arrested?!

He pushed the Knight aside, ignoring his sounds of protest and charged off in the direction of the King's Palace. There had better be a good explanation for this because if there wasn't, he was going to fuck with this universe. He angry clenched his sword, every fiber of his being telling him that Naofumi was innocent. Naofumi wouldn't commit any crimes. He didn't!

Ryuuto blasted the doors of the castle open with herculean force, furious eyes landing upon the scene before him. Naofumi on the floor, with knights surrounding him, weapons pointed at the Shield Hero. The other Three Heroes were standing next to the King, with Myne hiding in Motoyasu's arms.

All focus was on him the moment he entered, as his entry was quite loud. "Took you long enough, Shifter." Motoyasu began to say, but shut up once he was on the receiving end of Ryu's cold, hateful gaze. Motoyasu was confused. What was going on with the Shifter Hero? Why was he looking at them with that hateful gaze, instead of Naofumi?

Ryuuto shifted his gaze to King Aultcray. "What the actual fuck is going on." He coldly asked. The King was taken aback for a moment, before answering.

"The… Shield Hero..." He began, spitting out Naofumi's title as if it was a deadly poison. "Has committed a grave sin."

"Oh, and what would that be?" Ryuuto spitefully asked. King Aultcray seemed to have annoyed the tone in his voice.

"Sexual assa-" Ryuuto raised his hand to shut up the King, and miraculously, he did.

"Now, now Kingy. You can't go around throwing accusations that serious without hard evidence…" He smiled devilishly, as he walked over to Naofumi's side, Knights backing off once they saw the dark glint in the young man's eyes. "So, where is the evidence?"

King Aultcray coughed into his fist. "Of course." He motioned for a knight, who raised up what Ryu assumed to be Myne's nightgown. "As you can see, this nightgown, belonging to the victim Myne; was found in the Shield Hero's room!" Ryu glanced over it, before frowning.

"It's intact. No damage whatsoever. If he really did… that," Ryu tried to avoid the actual word since it didn't settle well with him, "Why is it not, well, damaged?" He looked at his fellow Heroe, seeing Naofumi was shocked. Probably didn't expect someone to help him. His eyes briefly softened, before he looked back at the King, cold look returning.

"Well… where's your evidence that he didn't do what he did? It doesn't seem like you have anything to back your own side up!" Motoyasu retorted as Ryu's left eye twitched in annoyance. That was a good point, he didn't have proof aside from his own sense of character judgment.

"True. I don't have my own evidence." Ryuuto shrugged helplessly. "But honestly, things don't add up if you really look deeper into Myne's story. If you don't believe me, that's on you and your own stupidity."

"Enough!" The King roared as he stood up. "I will not have you insulting my intelligence or the intelligence of the other Heroes! If you have nothing to back yourself up, be quiet or leave!"

...Damn. He was in a corner now. He underestimated the King, thinking he wouldn't do something like this, and now he couldn't help Naofumi anymore because of his rash actions.

He was useless. He couldn't help his fellow Hero, the man that he found an inspiration, a shining part of humanity… Why was he so pathetic? Was this his fate? To be unable to help the people who deserved it?

...This country… was corrupt. He could basically smell it in the air, like food gone bad. He looked down, the anger in his eyes amplifying as he clenched his teeth. He could hear his heartbeat in his head, vision darkening. He hated this feeling of weakness. He never wanted to feel this again.

He wanted them to feel his pain, Naofumi's pain. He wanted this country to suffer. He wanted it to burn, so damn much. But if the world ended, he'd die too. He looked back up at the Trash King, the Three False Heroes, and the Bitch Myne. The world tuned out for him once he saw her look at Naofumi, sticking her tongue out at him discreetly with a mocking look on her face.

He felt nothing but hate now. Hate for this country, that thought of him as a God. They praised him and the other False Heroes, but wouldn't think to help or praise the weak one, the odd one out.

"Fine. You guys think of me as some God, right…?" Ryuuto looked at them with eyes now ablaze with infinite fury. His red and green eyes were now a solid red color, swirling with dark-colored energy. "Then I'll be your FUCKING GOD OF DESTRUCTION!"

Passive Skill: Hatred's Awakening Tier I (+25% to EXP gain)

Inferna-Ergokinesis: User can create, shape, and manipulate energies of demonic origin. They would be able to do all kinds of unholy things with their unique type of energy. Things like creating blasts in creating or summoning beings of demonic energy. Users would even be able to summon demons themselves, through a ritual use of the energy.

Ryuuto ignored the pop up that came in the corner of his vision, forcing it closed as he began to switch his Shifter Sword into said weapon and relished the gasps of fear as a hellish cacophony of sound was emitted from the young teen. Hundreds of damned souls screaming in pain briefly, and a scorching heat being emitted by the blade.

He glared at the Knights surrounding him and Naofumi, pointing the blade at them as the Knights quickly backed off. He then looked at the shocked Naofumi. "Come on Naofumi. Let's ditch this hellhole." He said, ignoring the sounds of protest of the nobles around him, as well as the King's threats of them never living a 'normal life' if they left right now. He outstretched his free hand toward the Shield Hero, who stared at it before taking it. Ryuuto pulled his fellow Hero up with the faintest of smiles. Together, they left the Palace with little resistance, mostly due to no one wanting to near the blood-red decorated knife in Ryuuto's hand.

Unbeknownst to them, they were being watched by one of the Queen's Shadows, who had some… interesting news to report to their Queen.

The two Heroes strolled through Castle Town, Ryuuto on alert with his new Knife deactivated, but ready to be reactivated at a second's notice. While he still felt unrelenting, unadulterated anger and hatred for this corrupt Country; he couldn't let himself attack anyone without reason. "Where are you taking me?" He heard Naofumi ask from his side, as Ryuuto turned to look at him with his softly glowing red eyes.

"To a blacksmith's, where else? We need to get you some good equipment. Afterward, we grind. I'm not letting you suffer in this world." Ryuuto response was short, but soft in tone, especially considering the outburst he had in the castle. Naofumi nodded, before asking another question.

"Why'd you help me?" At that, Ryuuto froze in place. He sighed, turning to Naofumi.

"Listen, Shielder or not, you are a good person. I couldn't let you get framed for something you did, especially if I could take a stand. So take a stand I did, and I don't regret it." He faintly smiled, patting the Shield Hero on the shoulder. "So come on, let's get stronger together and make this Kingdom regret betraying you." At that, Naofumi faintly smiled. Ryuuto didn't know it, but he had indirectly softened up Naofumi.

Small smiles on their faces, the two resumed their journey to Erhard's Workshop. The moment they walked in, Ryuuto was shocked to find Naofumi instantly pinned to a wall of the man's shop, with Erhard's fist raised. "I heard what you did to that girl! I ought to punch you in the face!" Ryuuto immediately went for his Legendary Weapon, ready to draw out the Knife. But he was shocked when the man lowered his fist after a while, letting Naofumi go.

"What gives, I thought you were ready to punch me," Naofumi asked, green eyes boring into the blacksmith's own. The blacksmith shook his head negative.

"Nah, I changed my mind," Erhard replied as Ryuuto scoffed from the side.

"Good, otherwise you'd find yourself both losing customers and an arm." At that, Erhard looked at the Shifter Hero with an eyebrow raised.

"So, you're on his side, right?" Ryuuto nodded, as the Blacksmith hummed.

"Well, I don't really care what's going on as long as you guys can pay for anything you all get," Erhard replied, crossing his arms. Naofumi looked nervous for a moment, looking to Ryu who smiled slightly.

"Don't worry, we can definitely pay. Hook us up with some armor, old man." At that, Erhard frowned.

"I'm not that old." He said but did as asked.

Later, the Hero Duo found themselves equipped with new, better armor; as well as the Copying of a few Shields for Naofumi.

Ryuuto also found himself with a new blade.

Alestian Steel Rapier

+10 ATK, XP gain +35%* to Party

Passive Skill: Aura Amp (Able to amplify the user's Aura, as well as boosting Alestian-based Crafting.)

It wasn't too powerful on its own, but its large XP bonus allowed Naofumi and Ryuuto to temporarily Party up without worrying about the… drawbacks of Heroes partying up. The two immediately began to grind furiously, with the goal of leveling up as quickly as possible in mind.

Naofumi finally reached Level 5, but it took a good while since Ryuuto wanted Naofumi to get used to his new Attack Shield. They had a good amount of Balloon Scraps to sell, so they sought out to Castle Town to sell their loot.

The merchant tried to fleece them out but immediately regretted it once he was thoroughly threatened by live Balloons and a Demonic Knife to the chest. In the end, they got their due and went on with their lives.

They spent their time upgrading their Legendary Weapons and having a good time, unlocking more and more Weapons as they went.

But soon enough, they had to think about splitting up, at least Party-wise. All good things must come to an end sometime, right?

"The XP gain ability my Rapier gave us was good and all, but we should split up, at least temporarily; so we don't end up being reliant on each other too much. We're Level 13, so getting good XP like this could be difficult." Ryuuto reasoned to Naofumi, who had his doubts. The Shield Hero didn't want to split and adventure without his only, and possibly best friend.

"I get that, but ever since what happened back in the Castle, we've got a target painted on both of our backs. If we split up, we're just getting ourselves into more trouble. My defense is great and all, but my offense is far from perfect. And you have the opposite problem, you have a good offense but your defense… is a bit lacking for right now." Naofumi countered.

"...How about this. Either during or after the Wave, we Party back up. Compromise." Ryuuto sighed, leaning against a tree. Naofumi went silent but nodded anyway. Ryu looked at him pointedly, though his eyes softened. "About the offense…"

"Take him back to your current Inn." He heard The Voice in His Head say, blinking in surprise at the return of the Mysterious Voice.

"Oh, so now you return?" He snarked mentally. The Voice sighed disappointedly, similar to a disappointed father.

"Just do what I say… it'll be worth it, for Naofumi at least."

"Fine, whatever." Ryu got up and stretched, before glancing at Naofumi. "Hey, come on. I've got something to show you back at the Inn." Naofumi looked at him, half-curious and half-surprised.

"A chest. What you have for us is a chest." Ryu internally deadpanned, as Naofumi looked through said chest in their room. Ryuuto had to play it off to Naofumi as a "Starter Pack" he was given by a "Patron" so his friend didn't question it.

"Not just ANY chest! A chest that contains all the Upgrades you've unlocked in your Shifter Blade! Yes, yes! A Mystic Chest!" The Voice said proudly. "I'm sure Naofumi will find some good in the abilities you've unlocked yourself!"

"This seems a little too easy…"

"Meh. That's because its meant to be. The excuse you used on Naofumi isn't far off. It is a gift from a patron. A gift from me, your Legendary Weapon's Spirit."

"...Cool."

He looked at Naofumi's stats for what he assumed would be the final time for a while, seeing his friend unlock plentiful new Shields.

Passive Skill: Night and Day (Able to amplify "Light" and "Dark" element magic even better than others [+500%].)

Magic Amplification: Amplifies all Magic used within range (2km) of the user by 200%, as long as it is either beneficial to the user or related to the user's party.

Passive Skill: Aura Amp (Able to amplify the user's Aura, as well as boosting Alestian-based Crafting.)

Umbrakinesis: User can create, shape, and manipulate darkness and shadows.

Passive Skill: Flashlight (Acts like a light source with infinite power, can cause minor damage to Dark Element monsters)

Counter Shield (Able to cause damage to enemies with Light Magic via Counterattacks)

Photokinesis: The user can create, shape and manipulate visible light, commonly referred to as light, is electromagnetic radiation that is visible to the human eye, and is responsible for the sense of sight. The user can also use this light to burn their enemies from the inside out.

Blazing Shield Unlocked

+8 DEF, +3 ATK with Burn

Pyrokinesis: User can create, shape and manipulate fire, the rapid oxidation of a material in the exothermic chemical process of combustion, releasing heat, light, and various reaction products, flame being the visible portion of the fire. Depending on the substances alight, and any impurities outside, the color of the flame and the fire's intensity will be different.

Aqua Shield Unlocked

+7 DEF

Hydrokinesis: The user can create, shape, and manipulate water, along with water vapor and poisonous liquids.

Sunflame Shield Unlocked

+5 DEF

Astro-Pyrokinesis: The user can create, shape and manipulate cosmic fire from the depths of deep space, typically from the Sun or nearby stars. These flames can burn in space, and thus, have no need for the consumption of oxygen.

Storm Shield Unlocked

+8 DEF, +6 ATK with Shock

Tempestakinesis: User can sense, create, shape and manipulate storms, including strong wind, hail, thunder and/or lightning (a thunderstorm), heavy precipitation (snowstorm, rainstorm), heavy freezing rain (ice storm), strong winds (tropical cyclone, windstorm), or wind transporting substance through the atmosphere as in a dust storm, blizzard, sandstorm, etc.

Lunar Shield Unlocked

Selenokinesis: User can create, shape and manipulate all aspects of a moon/moons, including its gravity and the effects it has on the planet, reflective surface, time-keeping, etc. and use its lunar energy.

+10 ATK & DEF, High chance to cause Burn Damage

Infernokinesis: The user can generate and manipulate the cursed flames of Hell, which can completely destroy anything. The color of the flames varies but may be black, blue, white, or the normal shades of fire, although probably in some way noticeably unusual. Sometimes, the flames are not generated but instead summoned from the depths of Hell itself.

Magmakinesis: User can create, shape and manipulate molten rock (magma while underground, lava when on the surface), a mixture of molten or semi-molten rock, volatiles, and solids, it may also contain suspended crystals, dissolved gas and gas bubbles.

+10 ATK & DEF, great chance to cause Slice Damage

Aerokinesis: The user can create, shape and manipulate air, the common name given to the layer of atmospheric gases and various compounds (mostly oxygen and nitrogen) surrounding the planet Earth that is retained by Earth's gravity, and wind, movement of air relative to the surface of the planet. It is an important factor in determining and controlling climate and weather, and the generating force of most ocean and freshwater waves. Wind occurs because of horizontal and vertical differences in atmospheric pressure, and include breezes, squalls, gusts, whirlwinds, zephyrs, gales, tempests, and hurricanes.

+9 ATK & DEF, High chance to cause Shock and Bleed Damage

Electrokinesis: User can create, shape and manipulate electricity, a form of energy resulting from the movement of charged particles (such as electrons or protons), allowing control over electric fields, all charge carriers (Ions, Electrons, Protons, and Positrons), electronics, and electromagnetic forces.

Nature Shield Unlocked

+2 DEF & 15% Damage Reduction

Passive Skill: Infinity Forest (+15% to base stats for all allies when in a Forest or a Forest-like zone)

Dendrokinesis: Users can create, shape, and manipulate wood/woody plants, including trees, shrubs, and lianas. They can cause wood to grow, move/attack or even rise from the soil and "walk", mutate wood by rearranging DNA structure, revive withered or dead wood or manipulate the deadwood as well as the living.

Yikes. Most of these Shields would need a bit of mastery. Wait, did one of them have the same XP buff as his Rapier?

"Nevermind that. I have a second task for you and the Shield Bro. I need you two to…"

A/N: So… yeah… Naofumi is going to be busted, crazy OP in this fic. So will Raphtalia. Maybe Filo too. Definitely Ryuuto and Inori as well. Just a generally insane 5-member Party with the highest stats ever seen in Melromarc. I'd appreciate it if you all reviewed and told me what you ROTSH fans would like to see coming up soon!
