Chapter 28: Time for Finals
A few days before hand…
During a faculty meeting to discuss the final exams. Aizawa was telling all of the teachers about who would be pared with who and why they would face that particular teacher.
"Midoriya and Yaoyorozu are going to be facing off against me." Said Aizawa.
"Really?" asked Nezu who seemed curious.
"For one reason is that I don't know how my quirk will affect Midoriya." Explained Aizawa.
"You're right, not even the doctor knew how to classify his quirk." Said Nezu.
"Wait are you serious?" asked All Might who was in his thin form.
"Considering everything…" sighed Nezu.
His quirk had aspect of all three types of Quirks, it made sense that doctors were stumped
"Also I want to gage his resolve." Said Aizawa.
"What do you mean?" asked Thirteen .
"You see he had told me that he doesn't want to bond with someone unless they have a good reason for it or there's no other choice." Said Aizawa.
The other teachers understood this.
However things got concerning when he got the final two, which was Shoto had Katsuki VS. All Might.
"Is that a good idea?" asked All Might.
"Bakugo…" said Aizawa.
"I'm not referring to Bakugo." Said All Might.
Aizawa sighed.
The other members of the staff was also concerned as they were informed about the way Endeavor treated his family.
"Todoroki needs to know what he's really getting into." Sighed Aizawa, "Even if he was groomed to surpass All Might and I think some of that might be in his head after everything… even if he doesn't want to be the one to one day surpass All Might on his own…"
The rest of the teaching staff was quiet taking in what he said.
Aizawa sighed.
In the Present…
"All right so how the exams will work." Said Aizawa.
He began to explain the rules, in order to pass they had to either handcuff their teacher or escape through an exit point.
That had 30 minutes to do this.
IT was also going to happen one at a time for various reasons.
However it was one rule in particular .
"IS it okay to just leave?" asked Ashido.
"You will be facing opponents much better than you." Said Present Mic.
"Aren't you just the school announcer?" asked Jiro.
She and Koda would be the ones facing him… so it was even more disheartening.
"So you won't be holding back?" asked Shoto.
"We will have a handicap." Said All Might taking out a set of cuffs, "These are special weighted cuffs designed by Young Hatsume after a competition."
"Good for her." Said Kirishima.
"It's super dense weighs half of our weight." Said All Might as he put one then grumbled "These are heavy".
"You can strategize with your partner or watch the other exams in the observation room." Muttered Aizawa.
Once everyone was splitting into groups, Izuku approached Yaoyorozu.
"Yaoyorozu do you want to strategize ?" he asked.
"All right." Said Yaoyorozu.
Not too long later Ochaco made her way to the observation room. There both Recovery Girl and Inko were watching.
"Oh hey Inko." Said Ochaco, "I wasn't expecting you to be here."
"There's not much to do today so I thought I would watch." Said Inko.
"I can see your prepared." Said Ochaco noticed a lot of tissue boxes and plenty of sports drink.
"We are trying to make sure what happened at the Sports Festival doesn't happen again ." said Recovery Girl.
Inko could only bluish in response.
"Well… why aren't you strategizing with your partner?" asked Inko.
"Uh…" said Ochaco.
The one she was partnered with was Aoyama and he was looking at his reflection.
No… really…
"He's busy doing other things." Said Ochaco.
"I see…" said Inko getting the feeling like she didn't want to know.
"I figured it would be a good idea to watch." Said Ochaco.
Inko nodded.
Meanwhile Izuku and Yaoyorozu was in a room to strategize.
"I think we should bond." Said Yaoyorozu.
"What!" yelled Izuku getting so shocked at her turned to his animal form.
Yaoyorozu jumped when this happened.
"Sorry… I thought I had that under control." Said Izuku blushing as he turned back.
"It might be the best way to pass the test." Said Yaoyorozu.
"Bonding has to be a last resort." Said Izuku, "I don't think it should be the first option to pass an exam."
"But I heard during the entrance exam…" said Yaoyorozu.
"It was a last resort…" said Izuku, "Ochaco was trapped and neither of the two quirks I had would have helped her.
She would have argued about the USJ but she, Jiro and Kaminari were surrounded by villains and from what she heard it was the same for Izuku, Tsuyu and Mineta.
"Right now unless someone has a good enough reason or I have absolutely have to I'm not going to make a bond." Said Izuku, "And I don't think that plan A for the exam is a good enough reason."
"I see…" said Yaoyorozu.
"You're the top student in class." Said Izuku, "I know you come up with another plan."
Before she could answer an announcement was made.
"Eijiro Kirishima and Rikido Sato have failed the exam."
In the area where Katsuki and Shoto was just waiting for their turned (which they knew would be for a long time) both heard this.
"Damn it Shitty Hair! Why did you have to fail." She muttered.
"You sound really disappointed." Said Shoto.
"None of your business Icy Hot." muttered Katsuki.
Back with Izuku and Yaoyorozu he noticed that Yaoyorozu seemed to shrink a little at this announcement.
"During the Sports Festival… I made the wrong move…" said Yaoyorozu.
"What do you mean?" asked Izuku.
"Just stood there with a shield and allowed myself to get pushed out…" said Yaoyorozu, "I didn't do anything… You made it to the second round…"
"Yeah but my defeat was worse than yours." said Izuku, "I ran away after accidently turning Shoto into a girl…"
Yaoyorozu looked at him.
"You got so many more draft picks than I did." Said Izuku, "I only got one…"
"I don't know how many of them were because of my looks through…" said Yaoyorozu.
"What do you mean?" asked Izuku getting a bad feeling about it.
Yaoyorozu told him about how her internship went that she and Kendo had gone with a hero by the name of Uwabami. She was a hero that was more interested in being a celebrity than actually doing good and she even admitted the reason why had chosen Yaoyorozu was because she was a pretty girl.
Not only that but she and Kendo were forced to be part of a shampoo commercial.
Izuku looked down as much as he hated his internship what happen to Yaoyorozu was far worse than his.
"I guess you had the worst internship then…" sighed Izuku.
"No Mineta's was far worse." Said Yaoyorozu trying her best to hide her amusement.
"What?" asked Izuku.
"I heard from Jiro that Mount Lady treated Mineta like a slave the entire time." Said Yaoyorozu.
"Oh…" said Izuku with a sweat drop.
"IT wasn't that bad…" sighed Yaoyorozu, "But it was still bad…"
"You shouldn't let that get you down though…" said Izuku "We're still training… we're going to make a lot of mistakes… besides you're a lot better than me…{"
"What?" asked Yaoyorozu.
"You didn't give into pressure…" sighed Izuku.
She realized what she was referring to.
The fact that he gave up the Class Representative position.
"Why did you just give it to me?" asked Yaoyorozu.
"I'm sorry I should have considered it…" cried Izuku.
"Calm down… please…" said Yaoyorozu.
"I just… I couldn't be class representative." Sighed Izuku.
"I've seen the videos, remember." Sighed Yaoyorozu ,"How you were treated in middle school."
Izuku sighed.
"I know the whole class has seen the videos." Said Izuku.
"Your quirk is strange…" said Yaoyorozu, "And there are life changing effects, but you shouldn't have been ostracized."
"I guess…" sighed Izuku.
Yaoyorozu sighed she realized something while talking to him.
They both had the same confidence issues.
"I guess neither of is confident in our abilities…" sighed Yaoyorozu.
Izuku sighed.
"Yeah…" sighed Izuku, "I guess we have to believe n each other though…"
Yaoyorozu looked at him.
"It's because of Bakugo, isn't it?" asked Yaoyorozu.
"She also pushed me into doing the stuff I was nervous doing…" said Izuku, "She even voted for me as Class Representative…"
That was when they heard another announcement… this time was good news.
"Tsuyu Asui and Fumikage Tokoyami have passed the exam!"
Izuku's tail began to wag at hearing this news.
Tsuyu barely used any of her magical girl abilities, however she was a big help for her team as it was where she stored the handcuffs that allowed her team to win what got to them to pass.
"I do have a plan…" said Yaoyorozu, "But I don't know it will work…"
"What is it?" asked Izuku.
She told him the plan and he nodded.
"Wait… do you have a good handle on Todoroki's quirk?" asked Yaoyorozu.
"The only one I'm bad at using is Tenya's." said Izuku.
Yaoyorozu nodded at this.
He also didn't want to tell her the second half the Internship week he pretty much perfected it thanks to Endeavor's training.
But we will need to distract him while you make those items" said Izuku.
"What if…" said Yaoyorozu ,"We make him think I bonded with you…"
Bluff him…" said Izuku, "But I don't know if that's a good idea."
Yaoyorozu realized something, unless the fake outfit was skimpy it would be very difficult to use her quirk.
"No wait you're right." Said Yaoyorozu.
"Don't worry I can distract him long enough…" said Izuku, "I do have several quirks I can use to distract him while he you make the catapult."
Yaoyorozu nodded.
"But I will keep an eye on you just in case." Said Yaoyorozu.
"We should head to our exam area…" said Izuku, "Our exam is after this one… so we don't know when it will be ready."
Yaoyorozu nodded.
Meanwhile with the current exam it was Tenya and Ojiro against a teacher by the name of Power Loader. He was mainly a Support teacher but with his digging skills he was causing problems for the two them by digging the ground under them.
"When I get a clear shot at him you have to make your way to the escape point." Said Tenya.
"Okay." Said Ojiro as they had planned out something like this.
Tenya summoned her wand and pointed towards the area where she though Power Loader was.
"I hope this works… I haven't tested it completely." Said Tenya, "IU don't know if my powers will affect if it's behind an obstacle."
Ojiro nodded.
She activated her wands power and underground Power Loader found himself slowing down.
"What's going on…" thought Power Loader.
"It's working!" called out Tenya.
Ojiro ran towards the escape point, making user his team passed the exam.
Izuku and Yaoyorozu had made it to the testing site when they heard the message.
"Tenya Iida and Mashiroa Ojiro have passed the exam!"
Izuku's tail began to wag like crazy at this announcement.
"Our exam should be starting soon." Said Izuku.
Yaoyorozu nodded.
They waited for the chime for their exam to begin in area that resembled a neighborhood.
"We have to be on guard." Said Izuku.
Both of them were looking around for him. After all the plan hinged on finding him first.
Suddenly Izuku froze.
There was a puff of smoke around Izuku's ears… and uh… tail area.
Yaoyorozu stared at Izuku.
However it looked like he was having some sort of panic attack.
Something he never realized until that moment was that while he didn't have his telepathy on, there was always some sort of connection there between him and his partners.
But now it was gone… like it didn't exist… there was crippling loneliness all of a sudden.
"Midoriya…" said Yaoyorozu.
However it was because the panic attack he was having he was frozen.
Meanwhile with Katsuki and Shoto both of them froze as suddenly the gems turned grey and their magical girl were undone. But they did not revert to being male.
"What the fuck!" yelled Katsuki.
Meanwhile Tsuyu was headed to the observation room when the same thing happened to her.
With Tenya and Ojiro the two were disusing what to do now that their exam was over.
However both of them were shocked at her transformation was undone.
In the observation room, both Ochaco and Inko saw this happen just as Ochaco's transformation was also undone.
"Oh so it affects all of you." Said Recovery Girl looking at Ochaco.
Ochaco could only nod worried it might be permeant.
Back at the exam area, Yaoyorozu was looking around for Aizawa.
"So that's what happens when I use my quirk on him…" said Aizawa who was hanging upside down from some telephone wire.
Yaoyorozu looked at the teacher they were supposed to be fight. She knew that she had to distract him to get Izuku away from him at the moment…
She could only hope that it would work…
Next Time: The Exam counties as Izuku and Yaoyorozu continue with their plans hoping that Izuku wouldn't have another panic attack. Will her plan be enough or will Izuku be forced to bond with her as a last resort? Find out next time!
