Harry picked up Kirika just as she was about to enter the owl shop and sighed in relief. "Please don't do that again," he said. Harry looked up at the shop and saw a black owl staring back at him. Harry tilted his head and the owl mimicked him.

"What are you doing," asked Pansy as she caught up.

"I think I'm having a staring contest with this owl."

"Ok. Why?"

"Because it was staring at me first."

"Is this another Frost or Flame thing?"

"It's a Harry thing," sighed Susan behind her. "He does the same thing to the owls that come by the manor."

"Why?"

"I don't know. I don't even think Harry knows this one." Harry grunted as he blinked and rubbed his eye.

"I lost," he muttered.

"What's going on," asked Danielle, looking in the shop window.

"Harry lost a staring contest with an owl," said Susan.

"Again?"

"Again," said Harry before his attention was brought back to the black owl as it bobbed its head. "It's Flameborn…" Harry rushed inside and moved to the owl as it stared at him. It flared its wings before it shifted in color from black to white and then a dull brown.

"You made him go weird," said the cashier. "He almost never does that at will."

"What is he," asked Susan who had followed Harry into the shop.

"Not a clue. His egg was donated to the shop a couple of years ago. When he hatched, his feathers were a mismatch of colors, almost like they couldn't agree on what color to be. Then, as he grew older, he started shifting in color. When she's asleep she keeps the black color, when he's threatened he turns red, curious, he turns white, and when he's calm after eating he turns…"

"Blue," said Harry.

"Yeah. How'd you know?"

"Flames. No activity, no flame. Ash and cinders. Blazing inferno, red. Color of anger. White is a curious flame. Doesn't snuff out and is deadly. Blue is calm, but still dangerous."

"Know a lot about flames, do ya? You like that Pyromancer in the Alley earlier?"

"Sort of." Harry looked at the owl as it barked before flying to his shoulder and pecking at the top of the basket. Kirika popped a paw out and swatted the owl's beak away. The owl barked again and pecked harder at the basket. "It's like Pansy and Susan all over again…" Harry groaned as both girls gripped his ears.

"Excuse me," asked Pansy.

"Did you just compare us to a bird and a fox," asked Susan. Kirika trilled in annoyance from the basket. "Sorry, Kori."

"I did," said Harry. "But only because of the bickering. Also, now is when you get along?"

"Yes," said both girls as they increased the pressure on his ears. The owl pecked at their hands before settling down. "Ow!"

"Well that's a peculiar bird," said Danielle with a slight chuckle. She looked at the owl and smiled as the Weasley's and Amelia entered behind her. The owl bobbed its head before barking and flying to her shoulder and nuzzling her neck. "Look at that, he likes me."

"Ah, he's just affectionate more to women than anything. Almost always does that."

"Almost," asked Amelia.

"There was one girl in here the other day. Cold as ice, she was. He damn near scared her out of the store when it felt her."

"Daphne," said Pansy and Harry.

"Friend of yours?"

"Yes," said Harry, before his eyes were brought to a snowy owl sleeping nearby. Almost as if it felt him staring at her, it woke up and met his gaze. Harry held out his arm and the owl flew over before perching itself on him gently. Harry smiled and reached out to it slowly as Kirika popped her head out of the basket.

"Oh. Finally found someone you like, eh?" The owl blinked before letting Harry stroke its feathers. "She's been really finicky about people since she was old enough to carry mail." Harry smiled as the owl calmly flew to a nearby cage and looked at the cashier. "You've been eyeing that particular cage for a while. Sure you're ready to go?" The owl hooted before flying back to Harry's arm. He chuckled and stroked her feathers again. "Alright then. Just the two owls?"

"I think that's fine," said Danielle as the first owl barked and pecked at Bill as he got close to her.

"Loves the ladies, hates the blokes. Though I noticed he was friendly with your boy there."

"I'll keep that in mind," said Bill. Harry smiled as the snowy owl calmly moved to Harry's shoulder, opposite Kirika's head.

"What are you going to name her," asked Susan. Harry shrugged.

"I don't know, yet," he said. The owl hooted softly before turning her head to the cashier after Amelia paid for both owls and the necessities for both of them. Bill looked at Harry.

"Alright, Harry?" The boy nodded before adjusting the straps on the basket.

"Yes. Are we ready to go?"

"Just about." He turned to Danielle who nodded and smiled.

"I can have one of the elves bring them to the manor," said Amelia. "Don't want them spooked by the dragons."

"That sounds fine," said Danielle with a smile. Amelia called for one of the Bones House Elves and within moments, the cages and owls disappeared. Harry turned to Bill who smiled and unshrunk and held up a hula hoop.

"Time for your first Portkey, you two," he said. "It's gonna be a bit jarring, but it's something you can get the hang of. Now then. Everyone, grab hold. Keep your grip no matter what, got that?" Harry and Danielle nodded before grabbing the hoop with everyone else while Bill cast a spell on the basket to keep it closed so Kirika didn't fall out.. "And. 3,2,1…"

Harry gripped his stomach after they landed, and he groaned as Danielle shook her head. "Oh," she groaned. "That was worse than the carts in Gringotts."

"You get used to it."

"Not likely," muttered Harry as Kirika climbed out of the basket now that the spell was over and shook her head, slightly dizzy from the trip. Harry and Danielle glared at Bill who chuckled slightly before exclaiming as Kirika bit his ankle, equally as pissed off as her human and his mother.

"Ow!"

"Serves you right."

"You alright, Bill," called a voice behind them. Harry turned around and saw a young man with hair like Bill's and Ron's and soot covering his face.

"Just fine," called Bill as the man walked over. Kirika ran up and into her basket before popping her head next to Harry's as the newcomer approached.

"Charlie," exclaimed Ginny with a smile as she ran over. Ron smiled and Charlie looked at Bill in surprise.

"Mum strong armed me. You know how she is."

"Do I ever," said Charlie with a shake of his head before he hugged his sister. He looked at Danielle and Harry and smiled. "And this must be the girlfriend and her oddball."

"You told him that nickname," asked Harry as he turned to Bill.

"You can be a bit odd at times, Harry," said Bill. "But it's not a bad thing. You've met my family."

"What's that supposed to mean," exclaimed Ron.

"It means you're weird," said Susan with a grin. Ron glared at her as Bill chuckled and Danielle and Harry walked over to the two oldest brothers.

"Pleasure to meet you," said Danielle.

"Pleasure's mine. Can't believe Bill managed to find someone as ravishing as you," said Charlie with a grin.

"Back," said Harry as his eyes flashed blue. "Off."

"And there's the scary side you mentioned…" Bill nodded with a smile as he winked at Harry.

"Harry's very protective of me," said Danielle with a grin. She placed her hands on his shoulders. "And that protectiveness has extended to Bill as well."

"Winning over both the mother and the son. You win again, big brother."

"Hah hah," said Bill. "Just bring us to the dragons, Charlie."

"You know I really shouldn't be doing this."

"You got it cleared. Otherwise you wouldn't have sent the portkey to the preserve. Stop stalling."

"Always ruining the fun in things." Bill snorted.

"I'm not Percy." Harry shook his head slightly as all four siblings laughed. He knew how different Percy was from the rest of his family because of his Flake among their Sparks but didn't speak up. He'd already told Molly about the difference between herself and her middle son. That would be enough to ensure Percy didn't split himself away from the other Weasley's as well. Bill and Charlie had already left because of their mother but Percy, being who he was, would leave because of all of his family. Harry wasn't about to let that happen. Harry paused as he saw Bill and Charlie disappear in thin air and blinked as he looked around. Charlie popped his head back into view and grinned.

"Come on. Just a visual ward. Gotta keep Muggle eyes out somehow." Harry blinked before looking at Danielle who shared his trepidation before they followed everyone else through the ward. Instantly, they were met with the sight of a massive scaly beast flying overhead, blue and white scales glinting in the noon sun before it emitted a deafening roar and dove to the ground before soaring above their heads about fifty feet from the soil they were standing on. Harry and Danielle smiled as they saw the display and turned to the others who were equally in awe. Charlie chuckled as he whistled. The dragon tilted its head before heading to them. It landed nearby and Harry and Danielle were shown just how massive the beast was.

The dragon was about 30 feet long and 20 high, with four legs and a massive wingspan. Blue scales with white tips lined the dragon's back and sides as the rough hide lined the underbelly. Massive golden eyes peered at them and Harry grinned before his own eyes turned gold as well. The dragon blinked in surprise before lifting its head. "You are of the Flame," Harry heard in his head. The boy blinked before looking around. "I am up here, Scaleless." Harry looked up at the dragon and saw it circle their group, keeping its eyes on him. "That you can hear me is proof enough. You are connected to the Flame. And yet you also smell of the Frost." Harry nodded slightly as he heard the booming voice in his head.

"Tear of Jotun," Harry whispered.

"The Frost Giants' last remnants. You carry it?" Harry nodded before holding up his hand and showing a ball of white flame in his hand. The dragon backed away slightly as he did so. "White fire? It smells like a phoenix. Who are you, Scaleless?"

"Harry Potter."

"Harry Potter. Scaleless of both the Frost and the Flame. You hold great power. Power only few of my kind has ever achieved, including myself. May you use it well in the years to come, Scaleless."

The dragon huffed out a small tuft of flame which circled Harry before moving onto his wrist as the dragon took to the sky once again. "What the hell was that," exclaimed Charlie.

"A gift," said Harry as he looked at his wrist and saw what looked like a flaming serpent wrapped around it Harry blinked as he stared at the serpent. It gave the appearance of slithering around his wrist before solidifying into a stone serpent. Harry looked at it and Kirika climbed onto his arm to sniff at it as the others looked on with mixed reactions. Charlie looked astounded while the others either smiled at Harry or breathed a sigh of relief. Pansy and Susan being the latter. Danielle smiled at Harry and messed with his hair before looking at the bracelet.

"Could've been worse," she said. "Could've been earrings."

"I don't think those would've looked good on me."

"No. They're more my thing." Bill smiled at the two of them before looking at a bewildered Charlie.

"This has been pretty much the norm, little brother," he said.

"That is considered normal," asked Charlie.

"Around Harry? Definitely." Charlie shook his head before looking at him.

"Good luck with them, Bill."

"I won't need luck. I've got the love of a beautiful woman after all."

"Always were a sap."

"Oh, what do you know?"

"I know you're a hopeless romantic. And I know if you're planning what I think you're planning; I know she must be very special."

"She is. Definitely she is."

"Glad to hear it. So when…?"

"Today. Harry said the Flame told him we'd be able to see something that was once in a lifetime."

"How did…?"

"What?"

"One of our oldest dragons just passed away. When the sun sets, the dragons will perform what we've called the Funeral Pyre."

"What is that?"

"Dragons gather around the deceased dragon and breathe their flames on it, turning the entire corpse into ash. After they've let us collect the viable parts to sell and keep funding going for the preserve. The Pyre is a rare sight. Not many get to view it since dragons on the preserve live longer than they would outside considering hunters need to keep them in check and away from the Muggle villages."

"Have you see one before," asked Harry as he walked over.

"Just one on my first day. It was unlike anything I'd ever seen."

"Did you hear the Song?"

"Song?" Harry frowned slightly before considering his next words.

"The dragons are Flameborn. When they lament, they sing. It's a sad Song, but happy as well. Almost like…"

"A dying flame," said Danielle with a small smile. "Beautiful and saddening all at once." Harry turned to her and nodded with a smile.

"Now I know you're perfect for them," said Charlie with a grin as he pat Bill on the shoulder. "Now, come along, everyone! We actually have a few dragons that agreed to let you get close. Just not too close. They're manageable with us nearby, but to them we can still be considered prey."

"It's like Jurassic Park," muttered Harry.

"Shush," muttered Danielle, though she agreed with the boy's thoughts. Harry looked off in the distance and and saw several different dragons of different sizes and with different Songs burning in their souls. He smiled as he looked at them as a small dragon the size of a cat sped around his feet chasing what looked like a squirrel. Kirika popped back into her basket at the sight of it and shook in slight fear at the presence of a potential hunter of her kind. Harry moved the basket to his front and reached in to gently pet the Kori to calm her down like she does whenever he was afraid. Kirika licked his hand in thanks as Susan looked at him.

"Is she ok," she asked. Harry nodded.

"Just afraid," he said.

"Well we're in a dragon preserve," said Ginny. "I'm surprised it took her this long to hide."

"Only one dragon species is small enough to potentially consider a single fox a decent meal," said Charlie. "That was the one that just ran past. Smallest dragons in the world and normally stick to caves by rivers where fish are a plenty. They only hunt furry animals on rare occasions. Though that one was too slow to even go after a fox. She'll be fine." Harry nodded to Charlie before fixing the basket back in place. Harry looked around and spotted the blue and white dragon flying around again.

"What was that dragon?"

"Elder Snow." Charlie looked back at him. "Frost Dragon from Scandinavia. Nearly a millennium old, by our estimate. Only dragon to breathe ice and fire." Harry looked at it and stared.

"It's like me…"

"No," said Danielle. "You're better." Harry smiled at her before they continued on. Harry and Danielle were the only ones, beside Charlie of course, who didn't show absolute fear in the face of the dragons located in the preserve. Both felt a sort of kinship with the Flameborn creatures and they, in turn, somewhat accepted their presence in the preserve, even if they were Scaleless. Because of their connection with the Flame, they were seen as friend instead of potential prey.

As they traveled through the preserve, Amelia discretely spoke back and forth between herself and Kingsley Shacklebolt about the number of people in Diagon Alley in the morning. "I don't know why you asked me about this," said Kingsley in the compact mirror enchanted using the same Two-Way spell as the Marauder mirror Sirius told her about. "But it seems there was a lot of activity in the morning. Other than an unregistered street performance, there really wasn't anything unusual. Just another day in Diagon Alley, people must've just been up earlier than normal to beat the rush."

"What street performance," asked Amelia.

"A Pyromancer and a Cryomancer did a little show in the Alley a few shops away from Ollivander's."

"…What time?"

"Around 11:30, maybe 12:00. Why?"

"That's around the same time I was in the shop with Danielle and Harry. Do we have anything on them?"

"Just that they're a married couple, registered master levels in their respective crafts and, you're gonna love this, have just been hired to work at a very familiar place."

"…Where?"

"Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. They're the new joint Defense Against the Dark Arts teachers." Amelia thought for a moment before coming to a realization.

"They're following Harry."

"Do you know for sure, or why for that matter?"

"I don't. But I doubt it's anything good if they are. Give me everything you can on them, I'm going to do an investigation of my own. If they're a threat to Harry, I want to stop them before they can do anything."

"You think they're Death Eaters?"

"I don't know, Kingsley. I hope not. Harry's already killed one of them in self-defense. If they threaten his friends and family to get to him, who knows what he'll do."

"I'll have the files on your desk immediately."

"Thank you." Amelia frowned slightly before continuing on.

In what felt like no time at all, the sun started to set, and Charlie looked at the sky with a grin. "Alright," he said. "Time for the Pyre, guys." Harry's smiled widened as he grabbed Danielle's hand. The small instance of the dragon granting him his gift wasn't enough. He'd wanted to see the fullest extent of a dragons Spark in person. Other than Harry and a phoenix, a dragon was the closest being to the Flame. Conversely the closest being to the Frost other than Harry was a Yuki Onna, or ice woman from Japan. Other than those examples, he'd need to find unique practitioners of ice and fire magic in order to learn more from them.

They came to a large field and saw some dragons laying on the grass as they watched the sun while others hovered in the sky. Harry looked at all of them and grinned. Charlie looked at him. "I can't believe you're not even a little bit scared, kid."

"Their flames can't hurt me," replied Harry.

"No, but their jaws can still crush you, their feet can flatten you, their teeth can rip you to shreds, their tail can send you flying for meters before coming to a screeching stop."

"Only if I provoke them."

"You don't need to provoke them. They're apex predators. They don't fear anything."

"They fear the Frost. It weakens them." He nodded up to Elder Snow. "Most of them." He held up his hand and Charlie watched as it turned blue and an icy mist came off of it. "If they try eating me, I'll freeze them."

"Wow. You sounded so calm saying that, you were almost scary." Harry smirked slightly before turning his eyes blue.

"And now?"

"Yep. That did it. Blimey, it's like looking into the eyes of a corpse. No emotion at all." Charlie shuddered and grinned. "Remind me not to make you an enemy, Oddball."

"Just stay away from my mum, and we'll be fine." Harry returned to his normal self and faced the dragons as Bill pulled Danielle closer to get a better look. Harry glanced at them and smiled slightly before nudging Pansy and Susan. They looked at Harry before turning where he nodded and smiled as they saw the couple at the top of the hill. Then their attention was brought back to the dragons as one of them bellowed in the sky.

"Brothers and Sisters of the Flame," Harry heard Elder Snow shout. "Today we release Dorman's Spark from his lifeless body! We return him to Tiamat! And allow him to be reborn as new kin from the Ash and the Cinder!" The other dragons bellowed in kind. Harry looked at all of them and smiled as wings beat and flames shot to the sky. "And we shall show a young Scaleless born of both the Flame and the Frost our ways on this day! He shall bear witness as Dorman's Spark rejoins Tiamat to be born anew in the next Hatching Cycle! Show our Scaleless Brother the most sacred of rituals to the Flame! Death, and rebirth!" The dragons roared before several ribbons of flame shot towards a body in the center of the dragons and Harry watched as Dorman's body started blackening, his scales singed with soot. The humans watched as the dragon's body started crumbling into ash and Harry listened as the Song of the Flame filled the air, like a private symphony only he could hear. Danielle placed her hand on her stomach and smiled slightly before she and Bill turned to each other.

"I have something to…" They said at once. Bill chuckled as Danielle shook her head.

"What," she said. "Are we in a bloody sappy romance movie?"

"Well," said Bill. "If we were…" Bill dropped to a knee and Danielle gasped slightly as he reached into his pocket. "This would probably be the part where the man bears his soul, drops to a knee and proposes." He smiled as he showed her the ring. "Danielle Emily Strauss. These last five years have been the best of my life. I've been with you on good days and bad, seen you at your best and worst. And have braved your anger on more than one occasion." Danielle chuckled softly as she felt tears welling up in her eyes. "I love you. I want to have more of those moments together. So I ask you, Dani. Will you marry me?" Danielle smiled and gasped as Harry shouted from down the hill.

"She will," he said.

"Shush," shouted Danielle with a smile as she turned to a chuckling Bill. She smacked him before taking his head in her hands and pulling him in for a kiss. "One. No laughing at me. And two. I will marry you!" Bill smiled and kissed her again before placing the ring on her finger and pulling her into a hug. She smiled before holding him at arm's length. "On one condition."

"That condition being…?" Danielle smiled and placed his hand on her stomach. Bill paused as he tried registering what was happening.

"You help me raise our child and be a good father. To her and Harry." Harry looked up at them and saw the surprise and glee on Bill's face.

"Damn," he muttered. "Missed it…" Bill looked at her.

"You're pregnant?" Danielle nodded with a smile. "Merlin… I'm gonna be a father!" Bill wrapped Danielle in a a hug and laughed. Danielle laughed as well as Bill picked her up and spun her in the air, their laughter carrying over the bellows of the dragons. Harry smiled before bringing Kirika out so she could look at them. As they did, Harry felt one spark become two and smiled slightly.

"Looks like our family is officially going to get bigger, Kiri." The Kori trilled before maneuvering to Harry's shoulder, her tail wrapping around his neck gently as they watched Harry's adoptive mother and future step-father celebrate in their own little world.

Off in the distance, two figures watched the young boy as he smiled with grins on their faces before disappearing in twin whirls of fire and snow.
