Chapter 1 - The Crash (and the aftermath)

It had been a rough Friday for the Gilmore Girls, at dinner Emily had been purposely trying to annoy and piss Lorelai off about things from the past (Regarding Christopher and being pregnant at sixteen), at the Inn Michel had been annoying as usual and there was a big wedding to plan. For Rory, school had been demanding as ever, with finals fast approaching.

The ride home from Friday Night Dinner had been quiet, with both Lorelai and Rory all talked out for the night neither wanted to speak until Lorelai broke the silence.

'How about we head to Luke's, get some coffee and some doughnuts head home and binge watch as many movies as we can? Try and get us over that lovely dinner we just endured' Lorelai suggests

'Okay, but only if I pick the first movie' Rory laughs, as they reach the street with the Diner on. The Mother Daughter duo begin to discuss which doughnuts they wanted, when a car began speeding towards them - on the wrong side of the road

'Mom, look out' Rory screams, as Lorelai swerves to avoid hitting the car - in turn causing the Jeep to hit a tree and overturn onto its side with the speeding car still managing to crash into the front of Lorelai.

Onlookers, mainly from Luke's began surrounding the car. Inside the Jeep, both Lorelai and Rory were unconscious.

'Has anyone called an ambulance?' Luke says appearing in the crowd, tone of worry in his voice when he sees the Jeep.

'I'm on the phone with them now' Patty replies.

He walks around the side of the Jeep looking through the wind shield at the unconscious mother and daughter.

'How did this happen?' He questions looking between the two cars, assessing the damage

'Looks like Lorelai swerved to avoid hitting this car, overturned and was crashed into by him anyway.' Babette answers, standing next to Patty.

'How long are the emergency services, if the Jeep keeps losing fuel like this it could explode.' Luke replies, worry still in his voice as he refuses to take his eyes of the scene in front of him.

...

5 minutes later and the emergency services crews were on scene, trying to find the safest way to cut Lorelai and Rory from the car.

Luke and the other townies had filled the paramedics in on everything they needed to know about Lorelai and Rory.

"The driver, that's Lorelai Gilmore she's 33 and the younger girl is Lorelai Gilmore also but she goes by Rory, she's 17" Luke said, to a paramedic that was on standby. They could only get to Rory at the moment, as both girls where in the front and because of the position of the car.

Police had sealed off the area, and only a select few people were allowed to stay. Luke (Because he knew the police officer coop, and because he cared about the girls too much to leave) and Patty and Babette (Because they saw the accident happen and where filling the police in one what happened)

Since the crews had arrived on scene, Rory had regained consciousness.

"Mom?" She said quietly, as she noticed her mother not moving. Rory was being held in her place by a paramedic, who was trying to stop her from injuring herself even more. It had become apparent that Lorelai's side of the car had taken the worst of the crash, meaning she was in a worse state than Rory.

"Is my mom gonna be okay?" She questioned, crying

"We will do everything we can sweetie, but right now we need to figure out how we are going to get you and your mom out of here safely" The paramedic said "Now your injuries don't look too serious, but we have to consider the fact that you were dangling from your seatbelt when we arrived. What we want to do is carefully get you from your seatbelt, and out of the car so we can get to your mother." he added. (I think I'll call this paramedic Dan just so I'm not calling him he/paramedic)

...

The Fire crews and Paramedics had found a way to safely get Rory out of the car, and now it was up to them to figure out how they were going to get Lorelai out. Once Rory was out of the car, it had become apparent Lorelai was trapped behind the steering wheel. This meant they had to find a way to get the steering wheel out the way so they could get Lorelai out.

Babette had decided to go to the hospital so she wasn't alone.

Luke was worried at this point. All the paramedics, and fire crews were talking about cutting the steering wheel and it was a scary thought. Patty had been glued to his side, as they both watched paramedics go in and out of the jeep with all sorts of contraptions watching them poke and prod Lorelai as they found a way to cut the wheel out.

The driver of the other car, had been sent to hospital not long after Rory. But nobody cared about him, because he endangered the 2 most precious people in the town and nobody could forgive him for it.

45 minutes had passed since Rory was sent to hospital. Babette had been texting Patty, keeping her update on Rory's welfare.

Doctors said Rory is lucky. She needs surgery on her arm, and a few nights in hospital. Other than that she is fine. Poor Sugah - Babette

Send her my love, Lorelai still hasn't been freed from the car. - Patty

...

Another 15 minutes had passed before Lorelai was free, the paramedics had her strapped to the trolley and rushed her into the ambulance

Luke had insisted on going with, and without hesitation got into the back of the ambulance

His heart was aching, seeing her like this. There were so many cuts and bandages. She had an oxygen mask placed over her mouth, and a strap around her neck.

He was worried, and scared.

...

It wasn't long before they reached the hospital, and Luke was stuck in the waiting room with Babette. Lorelai was rushed into emergency surgery, whilst Rory was having surgery on her arm.

The two had remained quiet, Rory had insisted on not calling her grandparents because she was mad at them. So Babette had preteneded to be her grandmother so the doctors would let her know what was going on. This meant she was 'Lorelai's step mother' and this granted them access to information on Lorelai too. Rory played along, because she was mad at her grandparents, and couldn't cope with them. Because she knew that they would possibly try and blame Lorelai for the accident.

...

They all knew it was going to be a long night. The town stayed on edge, waiting for every update to come through.

All they could do now was wait.
