Disclaimer: I Do Not Own Naruto Or Fairy Tail

"Eh, I can't believe she actually kicked me out," Naruto muttered, walking through the streets of Magnolia.

All over his body, white-bandages covered every inch of his skin, leaving only his eyes and mouth uncovered. I look like a mummy, He thought, well aware of all the glances he was getting. They were nothing like the stares he got back in Konoha. Here, the people staring were curious. No doubt wondering what he had done that managed put him in such a sorry state. In Konoha, the people looked down on him when they stared. They thought they were better...no that 'he' was less.

Naruto was going to missed a lot about his old world, but those stares were something he was happy to go without.

"Now, where is the request board." He said, looking down at the crude map Porlyuscia had made him. A red dotted-line stretched across the paper, starting at her cabin in the woods and ending somewhere in the market place.

I'm in the market place. Naruto glanced around at the stalls selling clothes, food, and everything in between. He looked back down at the map again. Like a pirate to treasure, he followed the red line, turning where he needed to, and finally, next to a stall selling mask's he found the request board.

There weren't many jobs posted, but there were at least a few for him to take.

"Looking for a job?" a sweet voice asked.

Naruto turned to the worker behind the stall. She was a cute brown haired girl a few years older than himself. As she stepped closer to the counter of the stand, he could see she was also endowed with a considerable bust.

"Are you a new mage?" she asked.

"Yeah," Naruto grinned, cursing his Pervy teachers. "I guess you could say that."

"Well," the girl smiled brightly as she spoke. "Once you get a few requests done, you should try and join Fairy Tail. Especially if you're going to stick around in Magnolia. They're the pride of the town, after all."

The strongest guild in Fiore. Naruto had read about them. After he had finished the book, Porlyusica had given him he had asked for another to read. The first book had been a brief but detailed guide about the world and how it worked. The history of Mages, Magic, Guilds...it had gotten him curious. So he kept read another book, and then another and Fairy Tail had been in all three. The Guild Master, Makarov Dreyar, was one of the Ten Wizard Saint's, the ten strongest mages in Fiore.

"I think I'll give it a shot," Naruto said, plucking a request from the board. It was nothing fancy, just a construction company that needed a plot cleared in the forest outside of town.

"Good luck!" the girl called as he walked away.

Outside the city, Naruto found the plot the company had bought. Waiting for him outside a portable trailer, was a middle-aged man holding a clipboard.

"You here for the job?" the man asked, not even bothering to look up from his papers.

"I am," Naruto answered.

A pen was jabbed at the air behind him. "Tool shed's over there." the man said.

Naruto nodded and turned around, walking over to the tool shed. He opened the doors and stepped over some weird oval-shaped chain holders attached to motors. Shovels, rakes, and most importantly, axes hung from the walls of the shed. He strapped an ax to his back and stepped back outside. Then he formed a cross in front of his chest with his index and middle fingers.

"Shadow Clone Jutsu!"

The forest was filled with orange as hundreds of his doppelgangers filled the forest.

"Alright, you guys know what to do!" He shouted at his clones as the foreman jaw dropped. "Get chopping!"

"Yes, Boss!" His clones all saluted.

Naruto sat down in the grass as they went to work. "Kyuubi, you there?" he asked.

"I'm always here, fool," Kyuubi grunted. "I'm trapped inside of you."

"Right." Naruto scratched the back of his neck. "How are we gonna get home?" He asked.

They were stuck in a world where no one had chakra. Instead, they had Magic, real magic. Not the cheap tricks Naruto saw retired shinobi perform at the festivals in Konoha.

The magic in this world was actually a lot similar to chakra. It allowed the Mages, this world's counterpart to shinobi to perform feats beyond human capability. There was elemental magic that used the same five elements as chakra, space magic that could be used to house different weapons and armor in pocket dimensions. And there was so many more kinds that he didn't have a clue about. Lost Magic. Ancient Magic.

There had to be something in this world that could get them back to Konoha. I just have to find it.

"You can't go home," Kyuubi said.

"Why not?" Naruto asked. "This world has space magic. If I can figure out how to-"

"How do you expect to use Magic without Ethernano?"

Naruto didn't answer. Kyuubi was right. He couldn't use the magic of this world. And he was still a Genin, he only knew four jutsu, five counting the Summoning Jutsu which he couldn't do right anyway.

"How am I going to survive in this world?" He asked, falling back and looking up at the sky. Clouds passed by overhead. "No one here knows how to use chakra, so who is going to teach me?"

He was the only being in the entire world who even knew what chakra was...wait!

Naruto shot up. "Hey, Kyuubi! Can you teach me how to use chakra?"

"No."

"What? Why not?"

Kyuubi snorted. "Why would I know how you humans use chakra?"

"I don't know! I just thought-"

"Thought what? That because I am an all-powerful, ancient being of pure chakra that I would understand everything about it?"

I wouldn't have put it like that. Naruto almost smirked. It seemed the fox had something of an ego. Maybe he could use that to his advantage.

"Well, I don't," Kyuubi said. "What you have now, that's everything you'll ever know about chakra."

"Then I'm screwed!" Naruto sighed. How was he going to keep up with the mages in this world if he couldn't get stronger? And how was he going to get home?

"By using Magic," Kyuubi said.

"You just said I can't use Magic."

"Yes, you can't use Magic." Kyuubi was smirking. Naruto couldn't see him, but he could feel the smugness radiating from the fox. "I, however, can use Magic."

"What? How?" Naruto demanded.

"A technique your Fourth Hokage could use. Sage Mode, he called it. A bastardization of the Bijuu's ability to absorb the chakra of the world and reform after we die. I can use that to absorb the Ethernano of this world."

Naruto frowned. "How does that help me?" he asked.

"Because of the damnable seal, as you have access to my chakra, so will you have access to the Ethernano," Kyuubi said.

"Then, I can use Magic?" Naruto smiled. "I'll become the strongest Mage ever. Then I'll find a way to get us home."

"No!"

Naruto flinched at the thundering roar in his head. "What do you mean, no?"

"If you ever try to send us back the Elemental Nation's, I will stop gathering Ethernano," Kyuubi said.

"What? Why?" Naruto asked.

"Did you learn nothing from the volcano, fool! You trying to get back to your precious village is going to be the death of us!" Kyuubi roared. "We got lucky landing in the world. The odds of us ending up in a dimension where I could gather the native power is incalculable."

"Why is that such a big deal?" Naruto asked. "Aren't you super strong anyway? Why do you need Magic too?"

"I'm the strongest being you will ever meet," Kyuubi said. "This isn't about power; it's about survival. After your death, I will be released from this seal, and thanks to this world's Ethernano, I will be able to reform after a period of time."

"Oh, I see," Naruto said, his lips turned down in a deep frown. "Is that why you're being so helpful? You don't have to gather the Ethernano while you're sealed away, you know. But you want me to like this world, so I don't try and use the Summoning jutsu again, sending us to a world you won't be able to reform."

Kyuubi snorted. "It seems your not as stupid as you look."

"I don't look stupid!" Naruto shouted.

All of his clones turned to stare at him. He shrugged. "Kyuubi," he said.

The clones nodded and went back to chopping down trees.

"How long will it take you to gather enough Ethernano for us to use Magic?" Naruto asked.

"I already did."

"What? When?" Naruto asked, stunned.

"When you were healing."

"It's only been two weeks." Naruto pointed out.

"Why does it matter?" Kyuubi asked.

"It doesn't," Naruto said. He looked at his clones. Six trees were already being dragged past the yellow tape outlining how much the construction company wanted clear. They were working faster than he thought they would.

"So, how does this work?" He asked.

"How should I know?" Kyuubi answered. "I will supply the power. It's up to you to figure out how to use it."

"Thanks, that's really helpful of you," Naruto scoffed.

"Then maybe I shouldn't gather the energy at all." Kyuubi retorted.

"No, no..." Naruto laughed nervously. "It's fine. I'll figure it out, don't worry."

"I'm not," Kyuubi said. "I couldn't worry less."

Naruto felt the conversation end there. He decided to focus on something else. Pulling the job request from his pocket, he looked down at the reward. It wasn't anything substantial, but it was meant for a team, not a single person. With just him collecting, he'd have enough for some new clothes, and hopefully a room and dinner somewhere tonight.

"No orange."

"What?"

"Do not buy any more orange clothing," Kyuubi said.

"Why not?"

"Because I said so."

Naruto growled. Who did the damn fox think he was? "What if I do it anyway?" he asked with a smirk.

The fox was trapped inside the seal. He couldn't physically stop him from buying more orange clothing.

"Then I'll stop gathering Ethernano," Kyuubi answered, bluntly.

Naruto swallowed the curses he wanted to spit. "Right...no orange. Got it."

"Good."

"That's not going to work forever, ya know," Naruto said.

"Maybe not." Kyuubi agreed, then he said, "But it's working now."

Asshole! Naruto shouted in his mind as the connection between him, and the fox was cut.

Hours later, with the sun setting behind the horizon, Naruto was walking back through the market in Magnolia. Tucked inside his toad wallet, 'Gamma', was a stack of this Earth Land's money. Jewel's they called it, even though it was just paper bills.

Maybe they call it that because you can buy jewels with them. Naruto thought, then he shrugged. As long as he could spend it, it didn't really matter what the money was called.

He stopped at a stand with t-shirts hanging off the side. It was one of the largest stands in the market, and when he looked inside, Naruto could see why. Boots, pants, coats, and even a few capes were all on sale.

I would look so cool in a cape. He thought, then he saw the price tag and balked.

"But not that one." He muttered and grabbed a few black shirts, dark blue pants, and brown boots. They weren't fancy, but they were cheap, and that's all he cared about at the moment.

He set them down on the front counter, and waited as the stall worker, an older man with a bald head, checked each price tag.

"45,000 jewels." the man said.

Naruto handed the money over and asked, "Can you point me to the cheapest inn?"

"Two blocks that way." the man said, bagging the clothes. "You'll see a sign, the Magnolia Inn, that's the one."

"Thank you," Naruto said, taking the bag.

On his way out of the market, he spotted a flash of orange. Dangling from a hat rack that had been turned into a necklace display was an orange necklace. It was a simple black string, but what caught his eye was the orange glass magatama hanging off the string.

It's not clothing. Naruto smiled and walked over to the stand.

"How much for that necklace?"
