I am thinking about all of our Lewis readers around the world. This is a good time to binge watch Lewis and read and reread Robson fanfiction.

Laura returned home from an extended shift at the lab. As she entered the home she shared with Robbie Lewis a package by the door caught her attention.

The now fully retired inspector, wearing a dish towel tucked in his trousers emerged from the kitchen to greet her. Instead of her usual smile upon seeing him after work, her face looked like thunder. She pointed at the offending item.

"Robbie Lewis, how could you go out and purchase extra toilet rolls! We talked about how it is wrong to hoard products others might truly need!"

Robbie put his right hand up signal 'stop'. "It's not for us, luv. I called Margaret next door and asked her if she needed anything. At first she hesitated to ask, but I got her to talk and found out she was about out and afraid to leave home and do her shopping." Margaret was 92 years of age and while in good health for her age found shopping, especially in these trying times, difficult.

Laura's face softened. "Sorry Robbie." She took two giant steps towards him and gave him a big hug. "That was kind of you, checking up on her."

"As soon as my cannelloni is finished I am going to drop some off for her along with the other things on her list." He pointed at shopping bag filled with some tinned food and fruit. "I will call her once a day to check on her and see if she needs anything."

Laura smiled to herself. Margaret had once told Robbie she loved his cannelloni; probably a bit of an untruth but at least it would provide her with a hearty meal. She went into the kitchen and came out with something she added to Margaret's bag.

Robbie watched carefully then reacted with mock horror on his face. "Not my last box of custard tarts!"

"Love thy neighbor, Robbie. I will also give her some garlic bread from the freezer."

"Yeah, she needs treats more than I do." He patted his belly. "Let's go deliver this lot and then when we get home I have some news."

Robbie and Laura carried the supplies to Margaret's front doorstep, rang the bell and stepped away. Margaret looked out the window and waved, her face a mixture of relief and gratitude. Robbie blew her a kiss. Margaret opened her door to see them walking home hand in hand.

Back at home, Laura was anxious to hear Robbie's news.

"First I want to say that I spoke to Lyn and Ken and they are their families are all fine and prepared to quarantine as needed. The second thing is I have a new temporary job."

Laura arched her eyebrows. "A job? Well, at least this time you are telling me you are going back to work."

Robbie nodded. "And I won't do it if you do not approve. I am going to care for the two young lads from number 911 down the road. Their parents, Rodger and Nikki are both cops and need to continue to work while the boys' school is closed. Our Jack is going to help me with ideas to keep them busy." He searched her face for an opinion. "If that's okay."

"Of course it's okay Robbie. We are doing something similar at the lab. We have set up a safe, clean space to care for kids of parents who are health care workers. It will be open 24 hours a day and staffed by volunteers." She grinned. "Guess who one of the volunteers is?"

Robbie's normally happy face took on a pensive look. "Why James of course!"

She punched him lightly on the arm. "You are a good detective."

"James was good with kids when he was a Sergeant, he should be even better now that he is an Inspector." He laughed. "How is your brother's family doing with all this?"

"Everyone is fine especially young Flavia who is enjoying extra time with the adults in her life, except us of course. After things are back to normal, we will have to have her over."

"Do you think things will get back to normal?"

"Yes, I do, there may be some long term changes made in our everyday lives but we will come out stronger. I have faith in humanity." She shrugged her shoulders. "Besides, I purchased several gift tokens and vouchers from our favourite shops, restaurants, and bars to give them some extra income now and I fully intend we shall use them later this year."

"All this craziness, hoarding loo paper…" Robbie shook his head.

"People are scared right now Robbie, it can cause them to be irrational. Hopefully they will soon redirect their energy into helping neighbors and being generous to those in need. It's not just us Brits. My friend in Germany said the same thing is happening there. Can you just imagine what the Americans are doing?"

Robbie briefly frowned as he usually did when the German Franco came to mind. He quickly and silently chastised himself for acting like a jealous schoolboy, especially now when there were so many more pressing concerns.

"What about us? Are you worried one of us could get sick?"

"It's always a possibility. We should just go on with life, help others, and enjoy any moments we get to spend together. As you know hand washing is one of my specialist subjects." She started rubbing his thigh. "There are many activities to keep our immune systems healthy."

He put his hand over hers. "Such as?"

"Healthy eating, exercise, spending time with pets, yoga, and meditation."

Robbie patted Osborn's head while Daphne jumped in his lap. The dog wagged his tail and the cat purred. "You will have to teach me how to do this yoga and meditation. How do you find time to practice them every day?"

"I always find time for the important things and would be happy to teach you Robbie. Oh and one more pursuit we should engage in..." She put her hand on his chest to feel his heart beating and gave him a shy smile.

"A bit of rumpy pumpy?" He put his arm around her and pulled her close to speak directly into her ear in a deep soft voice. "If you are happy about that."

She turned to face him. "I'm happy about that."

Wishing all of you good health and peaceful moments. How are you doing? Please ask for help if you need it and help others if you can. -H
