"There was no need to hurry this morning, Mamma," Jeremy tells Demelza. "Morwenna was late too."

She frowns at him, surprised.

"That's not like her," she replies.

But when Demelza sees her sister-in-law kissing Drake in public, it makes a lot more sense. For Morwenna leans into Drake like a woman who has given herself, body and soul, to another, and been given much back in return, including a new knowledge of her body and heart. Demelza grins in joy, happy for her brother, for she knows how patiently he has longed for this, but truly glad for Morwenna too.
