Well here we go, I got enough motivation to put out another chapter for this. Honestly kinda hard for me to enjoy writing for this one because well, its not as fun.

I think the thing is, I'm getting out of the army in 2021, I'm literally in the home stretch of my contract, and I've chilled out a bit when it comes to being super fucking hooah. So writing a story while I'm at the 101st just isn't as appealing.

But because I know you guys like it, I'll try to pump out a chapter every now and then.

Jaune was finding it hard to believe he was back in his old room at Beacon. After the dance had finished, they had gone back to their old dorm room. He hadn't been back here for a long time. And it almost didn't feel real. Then again, nothing felt real ever since he came back. He wasn't sure if it was because the war had messed with his head, or if he had just gotten so used to Earth that Remnant felt like something out of a Comic Book.

"You alright?" Pyrrha said as she peaked from around the corner in a towel as she was finished taking a shower.

"Yeah, I'm fine, just lost in thought I guess." He said as he sat by the window and took out a pack of lucky strikes.

"Uhm, Jaune? Could you please not smoke in here?" She asked politely.

"Oh...Yeah...sorry, guess I got carried away." He said as he remembered Beacon had a strict no smoking policy.

Then again he also remembered he was technically underage in this world, so that didn't help either. Which meant he was going to have to start being sneaky about everything.

"Oh Jaune! I have a surprise for you!" Ruby said as she came through the door holding a big package in a box.

"Ruby, you didn't need to." Jaune smiled as he was glad the girl was still so sweet and innocent as she was when he left.

"Oh trust me, I had to! Open it!" She said as Jaune smiled and hid his cigarettes from her.

He was certain she would try to burn them in front of him if they caught him smoking.

Smiling, unwrapped the package to see what appeared to be a big rifle case.

"Ruby, if you got me a rifle I don-" He was cut off as he opened it up.

And there was crocea mors all nice and polished.

"I can't believe it..." He held it in his hands.

"I thought I lost this when I got transported to America..." He said as he couldn't believe what he was seeing.

He remembered how he didn't have it on him when eh went to the US. He always assumed it ended up in some bumfuck part of the world where he would never find it again, or that it was destroyed during the resulting explosion that brought him here. Never did he think it was still here in Remnant.

"I kept it safe for you, well Pyrrha and I did, and after you came back I made some modifications to it." She said as he smiled.

"Like what?"

"Squeeze the handle tough for about three seconds and release." She said as he did as ordered.

The sword and shield soon transformed into a BAR.

"Oh ho ho...damn Ruby now that is bad ass."

"I know you like the classics, but I figured this would be a bit more convenient for you so you wouldn't have to carry your sword and rifle.

"I really appreciate this..." He said as he turned it back into a sword.

"Man, after all this time, I can't believe this." He said as memories of his time training at Beacon were rushing back to him.

A frown came across his face as he realized how everything was so simple back then.

"Jaune? Are you okay? WHy do you look sad?" Nora said as she walked in and notice he seemed a bit teary eyed.

"Oh nothing, just, just thinking about how much everything has changed." He said as he put his sword on his waist.

From being a student at beacon to being a paratrooper in Europe. He had almost forgotten how innocent the world really was outside of war. Hell, even though he was being trained to hunt Grimm at beacon it was nothing compared to being in an all out war between nations. Mostly because everyone was against the Grimm and was united against a common enemy. But back in the war, it was nations against nations, allies against axis, humans against humans. And even if you knew what you were doing was right, or thought what you were doing was right, it did nothing to take away the guilt from knowing that under different circumstances, the man you killed could have been a friend of yours in peacetime.

His eyes closed for a bit as he remembered all the faces of the men he shot. Hell, some of the Wehrmacht he killed couldn't have been older than 18, no older than him. It made him think of his classmates at Beacon, how many of them would he have to fight if there was a war on Remnant between humanity or even faunuskind? Much like the great war of the past?

He knew war was inevitable now, he knew that even though war was something nobody wanted to happen, it still did, and it was up to the people to finish it. It didn't mean though that the trauma he went thought was going to go away.

But maybe with a bit of time back here, he could forget about the war, and focus on a new life.

"Thanks Ruby, I really appreciate this." He said as he looked himself in the mirror.

Instead of his pumpkin petes hoodie, he was wearing his field jacket underneath his armor, making sure his 101st patch was visible.

Even though he wanted to forget the war, he would never forget his brothers he made in the 101st.

That was a promise.
