A draft
Bianca's POV
It did take time for Fred and George to accept my apology. I just had to promise to not use Charmspeak on them ever. They were so ecstatic with making this deal with me. They were so insistent with the Unbreakable Vow, but Percy would interfere.
As February came, everything became normal. Saffron had came back from Camp Half-Blood with greetings and regards from the others. However, there was one night that began the chaos. Sirius had come in through the Gryffindor Common Room that night to try and kill Pettigrew. I did not know about this plan at all. He had apparently had a hold of all the passwords, which Neville actually lost. Well, that's not a surprise, sorry Neville. Currently, Ron's pet, Scabbers, is gone. It made me believe more that Scabbers is actually Peter Pettigrew. Ron believes that Hermione's cat, Crookshanks, has eaten him.
I wish I could just spill everything to them!
The five of us were heading up back to the castle from the encounter with Hagrid. He had just come back from Buckbeak's hearing in London, and it turned out very wrong for both of them. Buckbeak was gonna be sentenced to death all because of Malfoy's father.
How I would love to turn him into a statue...
Some months flew by, as well as the Quidditch match, birthdays, exams, and Hogsmeade visits. As Divination class ended, Ron, Harry, Saffron, and I exited into the stairway. Hermione had stomped off, annoyed with the class. To be honest, I regretted choosing Divination. This class was a waste of my time. I didn't really learn anything about me or the prophecy.
After having lunch and more classes, we were all heading to Hagrid's hut. We walked through the courtyard and hesitantly walked by a man dressed in black clothing.
"That must be the executioner," Saffron whispered to us.
We began to rush out of the courtyard.
"I can't believe they're going to kill Buckbeak!" Hermione exclaimed."It's too horrible."
"It just got worse," Ron commented as we looked to see Malfoy, along with Crane and Goyle spying on Hagrid with binoculars. I was surprised that they knew what binoculars were. Hagrid stood in the pumpkin patch, tossing dead ferrets to Buckbeak.
Hermione marched towards them, leaving us trailing behind her.
"Did you see the big, fat blubbering oaf?!" We overheard Malfoy's voice."Oh, this is going to be rich. Did I tell you, Father said I can keep the head-" As we headed down there, It seems like Malfoy and his gang noticed us, so they straightened their backs, strolling to us.
"Look who's here," Crabbe began.
Malfoy smirked, meeting my eyes, but I avoided it."Ah, come to see the show?"
"You...foul...loathsome...evil...little cockroach!" Hermione spat, drawing her wand out.
As she aimed it at Malfoy's neck, he stumbled backward with his back pressed against a stone pillar. Fear was written across his face as she jabbed the tip of her wand at him.
"Hermione! No!" Ron shouted.
I was surprised that he would object.
"He's not worth it."
I sighed, crossing my arms as Malfoy whimpered. Hermione slowly dropped her wand from his chin and turned around to us. We watched as Malfoy and his gang snicker to one another. I held back a laugh as she punched him in the nose.
"Oooh!" We let out.
He clutched his nose, groaning.
"This is gold," I laughed.
"Malfoy, are you okay?" Goyle asked, hauling Malfoy up."Let's go!" They were pushing one another as they fled the scene.
"That felt good," Hermione admitted.
We smiled.
"You did well," Saffron complimented.
"Not good or well. Brilliant!" Ron exclaimed.
We proceeded down the slope, passing Buckbeak, who was gnawing on a ferret, in the pumpkin patch. We knocked on the door, patiently waiting for Hagrid to open up.
"Oh, hello, you five," he melancholily greeted."Come in."
We did as he told. arry, Ron, Hermione and I sat around the table, while Saffron prepared tea.
Hagrid stood by the window, watching Buckbeak.
"Oh look at 'em. Loves the smell o' the trees when the wind blows through..." Hagrid sighed.
"Why don't we set him free," Harry asked, standing next to Hagrid.
Hagrid shook his head."They'd know it was me. Dumbledore would get 'n trouble. Gonna come down, yeh know, Dumbledore. Says he wants ter be with me when they...when it happens." He exhaled."Great man, Dumbledore." He turned to us."Great man."
Hermione rose from her seat."We'll stay with you too, Hagrid." I nodded, standing as well.
"Yeh do no such thing!" Hagrid refused."Think I wan' yeh seein' something like that? No, yeh just drink yer tea an' be off. Oh, before yeh do, Ron-" He strode over the room, taking something out of a container.
"What's that?" I whispered to Saffron.
He shrugged."Not sure."
Hagrid turned to us, clutching something in his hands.
No way.
"Scabbers! You're alive!" Ron exclaimed.
"Yeh should keep a closer eye on yer pet, Ron," Hagrid said.
"I think you owe someone an apology," Hermione began, advancing towards Ron.
"Right. Next time I see Crookshanks, I'll let him know," Ron said.
"I meant me," she retorted.
Harry and I looked at each other.
"This is so not going well," Harry muttered.
"I agree," Saffron and I mumbled.
Suddenly, we heard something shattering. We turned to see the glass jar on the shelf in broken pieces. I watched Hermione pick something up from the shelf, scanning it.
"What is it, Hermione?" I asked.
She shook her head."I dunno. A stone?"
"Ow!" Harry yelped.
I turned to him."You alright?"
He scratched his head."That hurts." He turned, looking out the window."Hagrid..."
We all looked out the window, seeing Dumbly and Fudge heading their way to Hagrid's hut. Crows were all fluttering around. Behind them was a man in black clothing, carrying an ax. He must be the executioner.
"It's gettin late." He turned to us."It's nearly dark. You shouldn't be here." He was panicking."If someone sees yeh outside the castle, you'll be trouble! Big trouble! 'Particularly, you two," Hagrid says, pointing at Harry and me.
There were a couple of bangs at the door."Be with you in a moment!" He called. He turned to us."Quick! Quick!" He ushered.
We rushed towards the back door, sneakily exiting through it, knowing that Fudge, Dumbly, and the executioner entered through the front. The crows were fluttering around. Some were circling Buckbeak.
"Here!" Harry whispered, gesturing to the pumpkins.
We all hid behind the pumpkins, watching Hagrid solemnly greet the others. We crouched behind the pumpkins, hearing and watching Fudge speak to Hagrid. As we watched, we heard a rustle behind us.
My heart was racing, hoping it wasn't any monsters.
Hermione turned around, eyeing behind us.
"What?" Harry asked.
"Nothing, I just thought I saw..." She shook her head."Never mind."
I turned to Saffron, who shook his head."I don't smell anything strong."
"Let's go, guys," Ron reminded.
We all nodded, carefully fleeing Hagrid's hut. We ran up the slope, heading towards the stone pillars where we could see everything happening below. Below in the pumpkin patch, the executioner was already out there. The crows began to swarm around him. We watched as the executioner raised his ax, slicing Buckbeak.
Hermione whimpered, hugging Ron and hiding her face in his neck. I sighed, shaking my head.
Poor Buckbeak...
Saffron was tearing up beside me.
"Ow!" Ron yelped, dropping Scabbers. Ron stared at the blood running down his finger."He bit me..." Ron hissed. His eyes shifted, seeing his pet escaping.
My eyes widened."No!"
Ron and I dashed for it. I knew we had different purposes for retrieving the rat. I could not fail Sirius.
"Ron! Bianca!" Hermione called after us.
As we both reached the summit, Ron dove for Scabbers, cradling him in his bloody palms. I began to realize where we were.
The Whomping Willow.
"Now behave yourself," Ron whispered to Scabbers.
"Ron! Bianca! Run!" Harry yelled.
We both looked up, our eyes widening.
Behind Harry, Hermione, and Saffron was Sirius in his Animagus form.
"Harry! Look behind you!" Ron cried, pointing at the black dog."Run!"
They spun around, seeing the enormous black dog leaping over him. Sirius charged for Ron, grabbing him by the leg.
I mean, I didn't really know what to do.
I sighed."Sirius...there could be other ways to do this," I muttered to myself.
Assuming that Sirius would take him to the Shrieking Shack, I dove into the trunk first.
"Aaaahhh!" Ron screamed as Sirius clenched his teeth on Ron's foot, dragging him towards the trunk of the Whomping Willow.
Saffron's POV
I was a bit confused, watching the scene before my eyes. I knew from the start that there was a funny scent on the black dog. There was something about the black dog.
We all were running for Ron. Amongst the desperate cries from Ron, I look forward, seeing Bianca hop into the trunk.
"Bianca?" I called.
Maybe she senses it too? Maybe this is no ordinary dog. I need to find out.
"One way to find out," I mumbled.
As I ran, I tore my pants off, letting loose of my legs. I began to gallop, passing Hermione and Harry. Watching Ron being sucked down by the black dog, I jumped in, clutching on Ron's sweaty hands.
"Saffron!" He cried.
"I've got you, Ron!" I shouted.
Bianca's POV
Entering the Shrieking Shack, I flopped myself on the sofa, waiting for Sirius to show up. As I heard Ron's whimpering and cries, I knew that was my cue that Sirius and Ron were here. I stood up, crossing my arms as I watched Sirius threw Ron on the torn cushion. Saffron came along as well, face planting on the floor. I noticed his familiar goat legs.
Ron's eyes widened, seeing me."Bianca! How-" He was interrupted by seeing Sirius transformation."Sirius Black!" He squeaked, as well as Pettigrew in his hands. He began to scream, while I shake my head.
Saffron got up, dusting himself off. He stared at me, pushing me away from Sirius."You've got to explain all of this."
Blimey, how does he know...
I turned to Sirius."Sirius, I think you should've been more gentle," I sighed, heading towards Ron to check his foot.
"Sorry about that," he responded, eyeing the rat.
Ron jumped away from me as I tried to touch his leg."Y-you know each other?!" He gasped, clutching his bloody foot.
"Long story," Sirius and I simultaneously replied.
Sirius leaned into the corner. He eyed Saffron, especially his legs."What are you?"
"Satyr," Saffron answered, taking out his rapier.
"Saffron, Saffron, this is unnecessary," I scolded, lowering his rapier.
"He's the mass murderer!" He shouted.
I shook my head."No, he isn't." Saffron's eyes softened, looking past through my emotions. He tucked his rapier back in.
We all turned our heads to the doorway as we heard footsteps.
"I think I'll just sit out on this," I grumbled, sitting on the sofa. I patted the seat beside me."Join me, Saffron."
Reluctantly, he sat down, glaring at Sirius.
"Ron!" I heard Harry's voice.
"Ron! You're okay!" Hermione shouted.
They ran in, noticing Saffron and me on the sofa.
"You guys are alright?" Hermione asked, coming to me.
I smiled."Never better."
"The dog. Where's is-"
"He's the dog. It's a trap, Harry," Ron claimed, pointing behind them."He's the dog. He's an Animagus..."
They looked down, seeing the black paw prints on the floor.
I shook my head."What's an Animagus?" Saffron whispered to me.
"Someone who can morph themselves into an animal," I responded.
Their eyes followed the paw prints, meeting with the feets of Sirius Black.
"You look a bit scary like that, Sirius," I spoke up, earning a look from the others.
Sirius nodded his head."Well, I suppose from my appearance," he admitted, stepping forward.
I watched as Hermione jumped in front of Harry, pushing him behind."If you want to kill Harry, you'll...you'll...have to kill us, too!" Hermione cried.
"No, only one will die tonight," Sirius declared.
"Oh, he's literally making it seem like the other way," I groaned.
"Then it'll be you!" Harry countered, darting for Sirius.
"Harry!" Hermione called, losing a grip on Harry."No!"
Harry grabbed for Sirius, both hands gripping on Sirius' throat. Harry threw him onto the floor, him on top of Sirius. Astonished, both Saffron and I leaped from the sofa. Harry drew out his wand, directing it at Sirius.
Sirius laughed."Are you going to kill me, Harry?"
"No!" I exclaimed, dragging Harry up.
Harry pushed me away, still with his wand aimed at Sirius. However, I tightly gripped onto him.
Sirius laughed again."It's okay, Bianca, let him do what he wants."
Harry looked at me with betrayal in his eyes."You...you're with him?"
"He's not here to kill you," I seethed.
Unexpectedly, the door slammed open, and I sprung away, noticing Professor Lupin.
"Expelliarmus!" Professor Lupin casted, sending Harry's wand flying away.
We all stared as Professor Lupin gestured for Harry to get off of Sirius. Harry obeyed, and Hermione pulled him closer.
"Well, well, Sirius, looking ragged, aren't we?" Professor Lupin began.
I looked back and forth at both Sirius on the ground and Professor Lupin in confusion. I was pretty we met a few months ago. I wasn't sure why he was acting as if he just met him.
"Finally the flesh reflects the madness within," Professor Lupin continued.
"You'd know all about the madness within, wouldn't you, Remus?" Sirius said.
Professor Lupin sighed, dropping his wand by his side. They both smiled as Professor Lupin stepped forward, helping Sirius up. They both embraced each other.
It was funny seeing the others' reactions, but I knew that it was kind of a serious moment right now.
"I've found him, "Sirius raved.
"I know," Professor Lupin said, trying to contain Sirius' excitement."I understand."
"No! I trusted you! And all this time you've been his friend!" Hermione cried, pointing at Professor Lupin."He's a werewolf!" She confessed."That's why he's been missing classes!"
Professor Lupin stepped forward."How long have you known?" He questioned. He turned to Saffron and me."Did you tell?"
We both shook our heads."Not a soul."
"Since Professor Snape set the essay," Hermione responded.
I chuckled."Told you she would find out soon enough."
Professor Lupin nodded in agreement."Well, well, well, Hermione, you're the brightest witch of your age I've ever met."
"Enough talk, Remus!" Sirius impatiently fumed."Come on, let's kill him."
"Wait, Sirius-"
"I DID MY WAITING!" Sirius roared.
"Yeah...let's just sit down, Saffron," I whispered, as we both slowly sat back down on the sofa.
"Every year just gets stranger," Saffron mumbled.
I nodded in agreement."Yep..."
"Twelve years of it! In Azkaban!" Sirius wailed.
Professor Lupin nodded, shifting his attention towards Ron, Hermione, and Harry."Very well." He handed his wand over to Sirius."Kill him, but wait one more minute. Harry has the right to know why."
"I know why," Harry spoke up. We all turned to him."You betrayed my parents! You're the reason they're dead."
"No, Harry, it wasn't him," Professor Lupin opposed."Somebody did betray your parents, but it was somebody who, until quite recently, I believed to be dead."
"Who was it then?" Harry questioned.
"Peter Pettigrew!" Sirius and I responded.
Saffron turned to me."Since when did you find this out?"
"I met Sirius when I was trying to give food to him," I explained.
There was a disappointment in Hermione's eyes."That's where you've been all this time? That day where you had gone missing!"
Saffron swiftly turned to me."What?"
I closed my eyes."Come on, we were supposed to be keeping this as a secret from him..." I raised my hands up in defense."You guys gotta listen to Sirius' story. Peter Pettigrew is in here. Right now."
"What're you talking about? There's nobody here besides us," Harry defended.
"Oh yes there is..." Sirius turned to Ron."Come out, come out, Peter Come out, come out and play..." he sang.
"Expelliarmus!" I heard a familiar nasal voice.
As the wand flew from Sirius' hand, we turned to see Professor Snape.
Crap...I didn't know he would show up.
Professor Snape entered through the doorway, advancing towards Sirius."Ah, vengeance is sweet. I hope I'd be the one to catch you.
"Severus-" Professor Lupin began.
Professor Snap shifted his wand at Professor Lupin.
Dang...I have never seen a teacher and teacher done this...
"I told Dumbledore you were helping your old friend into the castle. And now, here's the proof," Professor Snape told.
"Brilliant, Snape! Once again, you put your keen and penetrating mind to the task. And, as usual, come to the wrong conclusion," Sirius hissed."Now if you'll excuse us, Remus and I have a bit of unfinished business to attend to," Sirius reminded, stepping closer to Professor Snape.
However, as Sirius approached him, Professor Snape jabbed his wand to Sirius' neck, pushing him away.
"Give me a reason. I beg you."
Professor Lupin shook his head."Severus, don't be a fool."
"He can't help it. It's habit by now," Sirius snapped.
"You guys act like an old married couple," I groaned, catching everyone's attention.
Saffron hissed, nudging me to be quiet.
"Bianca, the adult's talking right now," Sirius scolded, while I rolled my eyes, relaxing myself in the sofa.
Professor Snape turned back to Sirius, using his wand to push him back."Do I detect a flicker of fear? One can only imagine what it must be like to endure the Dementor's Kiss. It's said to be unbearable to witness. But I'll do my best." He directed his wand at the doorway."After you." He looked at the five of us, gesturing for us to flee through the door.
Harry stepped forward, slowly lifting a wand. My eyes widened."Expelliarmus!" Harry shouted, sending Professor Snape backward into a piece of furniture.
We stared in shock."Harry!" Ron gasped."What did you just do!"
"You just attacked a teacher," Hermione and Saffron simultaneously whispered.
Harry turned to Sirius, pointing his wand at him."Tell me about Peter Pettigrew."
"He was at school with us. We thought he was a friend," Professor Lupin explained.
"No," Harry denied."He's dead. You killed him," he exclaimed.
Professor Lupin darted in between Harry and Sirius."No, he didn't. I thought so, too. Until you mentioned seeing Pettigrew on the Map."
"The Map was lying then," Harry reasoned.
"The Map never lies," Sirius retorted."Pettigrew's alive. And he's right there." He pointed at Ron, who went white.
"M-me?" Ron stammered."He's mental..."
I chuckled, understanding why Ron would say that."No, Ron, he's talking about Scabbers."
"Scabbers? Scabbers has been in my family for-"
"Twelve years," Sirius finished for Ron."A curiously long life for a common garden rat. He's missing a toe, isn't he?"
"So what?"
"All they could find of Pettigrew was his-"
"Finger," Sirius finished for Harry."Dirty coward cut it off so everyone would think he was dead. And then he transformed into a rat."
"Pettigrew must be an Animagus too then," Saffron spoke up.
"Yes!" Sirius agreed."Yes, goat boy!"
"Satyr," Saffron corrected.
"Show me," Harry demanded.
Sirius aimed for Scabbers, but Ron held him tightly.
Lupin and Black turn to Ron, who held Scabbers protectively.
"Release him, Ron," I ordered.
He obeyed, glaring at me."I hate it when you do that."
"Doesn't everyone?"
We watched as Professor Lupin and Sirius transform Scabbers into this short man with thinning hair and grubby hands.
"You know, he honestly looks like a rat," I admitted.
"No wonder whenever I was near him, I smelled something out of the ordinary," Saffron groaned."This all makes sense. I tried talking to Scabbers one day, but it didn't really work out."
"Great that you mentioned it now, Saffron," Ron sarcastically said."I've been having a man as a pet," he whimpered, with Hermione patting his back.
"R-Remus...S-Sirius," Pettigrew stuttered."My old friends."
Pettigrew charged forth for the door, but they both shoved him back. Pettigrew sniffed, turning to find Harry."H-Harry! Look at you!" He advanced toward him."Y-you look so much like your father. Like James. We were the best of friends, he and I-"
"How dare you speak to Harry!" Sirius snarled.
Pettigrew wailed, hiding behind the piano.
Professor Lupin and Sirius cornered him."You sold James and Lily to Voldemort, didn't you!" Professor Lupin shouted.
Pettigrew wailed."I didn't mean to! The Dark Lord, you have no idea the weapons he possesses! Ask yourself what you would have done, Sirius. What would you have done!" Pettigrew cried.
"I would've died!" Sirius snapped."Died rather than betray my friends!"
We watched as Pettigrew crawled under the piano, staggering towards the doorway, where Harry was blocking it. I wanted to help too, but Saffron held me down. It wasn't my fight.
Professor Lupin and Sirius pulled the clingy Pettigrew away from Harry."You should have realized, Peter, if Voldemort didn't kill you, then we would!" Professor Lupin barked."Together!"
"No!" Harry objected.
We all turned to him. Professor Lupin began."Harry, this man-"
Harry nodded."I know what he is. But we'll take him to the castle," Harry said.
"Bless you, boy!" Pettigrew cried, getting down to his knees, trying to reach for Harry."Bless you-"
"Get off!" Harry yelled at Pettigrew."I said we'd take you to the castle. After that, the Dementors can have you.
