What About Me?

"Yuki!" Hana grabbed her daughter's forearm and held fast, stopping the furious young girl short. She turned, eyes red. "What, Mom?"

"Don't go, Yuki," Hana pleaded, still holding her daughter. She couldn't bear watching another child, her baby girl, disappear into the forest. Not after Ame.

"I have to get him back," Yuki said. Hana shook her head, pulling her daughter close. Yuki let her hold her, resting her head in the crook of her mother's neck and shoulder.

"He had to go. He'll be happier there."

"But what about me," Yuki asked, ears drooping in sadness and defeat. "He said goodbye to you, but he just left me."
