AN:

Hello everyone, I am still alive.

It's been far too long since I last updated. I sincerely apologize for the unexpected hiatus, had a lot of life stuff/issues that I had to deal with and a combination of writer's block that prevented me from writing any of my stories.

Anyway, I'm finally back and as a way to apologize for my absence I decided to update this story with an extra long chapter, my most popular and requested to update.

I also have something to share, an important decision I made regarding my first fic, Remnant of the Swarm. I will discuss it in full at the end of this story.

Now without further ado, here's the chapter you all been patiently waiting for.

Chapter 6: Revelation

"-and along with the previously stated benefits as being my personal agent, you will also have access to any of the resources the Atlas Science and Technology Division currently has on hand for your missions. That includes munitions, repairs, transportation, weapons, information and any other necessities you may need for your missions. So… do you accept Mr. Arch?"

"I accept these terms."

"Excellent! I shall return to Ozpin and prepare all the necessary papers for your employment transfer. You may gather your possessions and make your way to the air docks, a trusted colleague of mine will greet you."

"Understood. I will meet you then."

Ozpin's brows creased ever so slightly into a frown as he watched both Dr. Polendina and Julius leave the combat arena offscreen through his desk's holoscreen.

Ozpin has been watching their entire conversation in secret, using one of the few cameras hidden within the combat arena.

When the school was first built, Ozpin had hidden cameras installed at all angles within the combat arena where Dr. Polendina has decided to meet and negotiate with Julius about his offer. Of course, the arena wasn't the only place where Ozpin has cameras, all over his campus as well as certain spots in the Emerald Forest has several cameras, both known and hidden from sight and all directing live footage straight to his desk.

Call Ozpin paranoid, but one does not live as long as he did without some form of healthy caution. He learned long ago and through an untold number of mistakes and past lives to watch for any unforeseen dangers, especially in these dangerous times.

The Battle of Beacon is just another testament to that rule. And another mistake added to his already long list of mistakes.

"Ozpin..." Glynda trailed off in a stern but concern tone. Currently, it was just Glynda and him in his office on top of Beacon's tower. James had to leave to a meeting beforehand on request by the other Atlas General currently docked in Beacon's port.

Ozpin only replied with silence. What just occurred during the negotiations between Polendina and Julius can only be described as suspicious, unexpected and the worst possible scenario on numerous levels. Everything Ozpin knew about Julius from the two weeks he has been in Beacon and whatever remnant of his past life as Jaune he could discern from him, went down the proverbial drain after he watched the entire negotiation unfold right before him.

Though Ozpin will admit he recently underestimated Julius's character, he believed he understood enough about the knight to understand much about his outlining character and a basic grasp of his personal interests/goals. Such as the fact that Julius holds everyone around him with a high amount of suspicion and an equal amount of stern contempt.

Ozpin knew for a fact that Julius abhors any form of 'unnecessary' interactions with the faculty, students, and general staff and mainly keeps to himself. The only times the knight would go out of his way to interact with others was out of complete necessity, but even then, he was strictly professional and to the point with no wasted words or time.

Suffice to say, Ozpin's colleagues and students learned very quickly not to bother Julius with any sort of small talk outside of classes. Especially Peter.

So one would understand Ozpin's surprise and confusion as throughout the entire meeting with Dr. Polendina, Julius showed an unusual amount of patience with the man and spoke with Polendina far more freely and calmly then he did with anyone other than Ozpin himself.

Ozpin can recount the entire conversation between the two. It started when Dr. Polendina introduced himself to Julius, of course, Julius gave a curt and short introduction in return, but at the time Ozpin couldn't help but wonder why Julius so readily gave his name? So far Julius has only given his name out freely once but even then, it was more out of introducing himself as an indomitable figure that demanded respect.

The conversation then led to Dr. Polendina explaining why he was here and why he was interested in hiring Julius. As Ozpin expected, Julius immediately became suspicious of the man and called the doctor out on it. Though the man insured Julius that he was not here for whatever Julius had on his person, still Julius stood firm with his suspicions.

From then on Dr. Polendina continued to explain his offer to Julius and the overgenerous benefits Julius would receive if he accepted. All the while Julius patiently listened and replied wherever he could, something Ozpin took note of every single time.

Ozpin also noted the VERY generous benefits that Polendina offered, Ozpin would go as far as to say the good doctor would've given all of Altas to Julius if the knight wanted. It made the good doctor seem almost desperate to have the knight under his employ.

After it was all said and done, Julius accepted Dr. Polendina's offer, it was at this point where Ozpin started to draw possible reasons for what he has just seen.

There is no doubt in Ozpin's mind that Dr. Polendina knew exactly who Julius is. The doctor's vested interest in Julius is something to note, especially his reaction and attitude towards Julius during their meeting.

Initially Ozpin thought Dr. Polendina's interest in Julius was born out of the infamous curiosity and promise of new technology that seems to be common amongst all scientists of Polendina's caliber.

However, after finally meeting the armored knight he came all this way from Atlas for, Dr. Polendina's initial reaction to Julius was far calmer than what Ozpin expected. Of course, there was that initial interest in the Doctor's expression, but it wasn't the same interest of an overly curious scientist. In fact, describing the doctor as interested would be more of an exaggeration.

Ozpin would go as far as to say that Dr. Polendina's initial reaction is that of a man who was pleased with what he saw as if his expectations were somehow met. This only means that the good doctor is used to seeing things of Julius's nature, and this theory only added more questions to the ones already plaguing Ozpin's mind.

From the headmaster's perspective, this was all too suspicious concerning the numerous unexplained factors.

"What should we do then? At this rate Julius would be officially out of our hands and fall under Atlas jurisdiction." Glynda asked in a serious tone. Ozpin knew all too well what this would entail. He had hoped that Julius's animosity towards the scientists of Atlas and inquisitive distrust would be the key factor of him staying in Beacon, where Ozpin and his colleagues would keep an eye on him.

The end goal with Julius that Ozpin hoped to achieve was to possibly integrate him to their little circle against Salem. Despite the faults of his character, Julius has proven himself to be a very powerful warrior. Even if Julius is no longer the selfless, naïve boy named Jaune Arc, Ozpin hoped that by slowly integrating him back into the life he once had, Julius would fight for those Jaune would've protected before that fateful night during the Vytal Festival.

Ozpin should've learned by now that such hopes can easily lead to despair.

Ozpin let out a silent sigh as he shut off his desk terminal before reaching over with his left to grasp his signature mug. "Much as I loathe the idea of Mr. Arch leaving us. There is little we can do on our end. We can only try to delay the inevitable." Ozpin said as he took a sip from his morning brew.

"From our end? Are you planning to get someone else involved?"

'As perspective as always Glynda.' Ozpin thought as he placed his mug down. "Indeed. I'm hoping that James could watch over Julius where we can not. After all, the Atlas Science and Technology Division works closely with the Atlas Military as well as the Atlas Council. Something James still has a hand in." Ozpin explained as he took another sip from his mug as he turned to meet Glynda's eyes.

"Yes that is true, but James doesn't have the influence he once had before the Battle of Beacon. Plus his relationship with Dr. Polendina was made very clear if you have not forgotten. Is it wise to leave something this delicate with him? Even if you can somehow convince James to go through with this plan?" Glynda questioned with a stern but worried frown.

Ozpin nodded. Glynda made good points, James lost a lot of influence with the Atlas Council, losing an entire seat on the council, for failing to defend the Kingdom of Vale and for losing millions of lien in military assets. Plus this failure has put a permanent stain on the Atlas Military's reputation, one that will no doubt go down in history as one of Atlas' greatest failures since the Great War.

However, James is their best option, he will know the risks involved, not only furthering animosity with one of the most powerful individuals in Atlas, but also drawing unwanted attention to not only himself but directly back to Ozpin.

Also Dr. Polendina has proven himself to go to suspicious lengths to gain whatever he so desires, regardless of security risks and diplomatic relations.

Ozpin frowned in deep thought. "I'm not. But our choices are limited in terms of subtlety. James is our best choice for this matter. If not him then who else?" Ozpin left the question open, knowing he would not receive an answer any time soon.

However, the silence did not last long as the elevator chimed of an arrival.

"The doctor arrived quicker than I expected." Glynda said. However, her previous expectations were shot down when the elevator opened to reveal its current occupants.

Ozpin turned his attention towards his unexpected guests. "Team RWBY and Team JNPR. What brings you all here? If I'm not mistaken, Oobleck's class should be starting any minute now." Ozpin questioned as said teams entered his office.

At the forefront of the group was both Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee and Lie Ren with the rest of their teams following closely behind, every one of them wearing their school uniforms. However, what immediately caught Ozpin's attention are the serious or nervous expressions, especially Blake's and Pyrrha's who both have seen better days.

Blake was the first to speak. "Professor Ozpin. We need to talk." Blake said, her tone leaving no room for negotiation.

Ozpin's remained expressionless as Glynda step forward. "And what may I ask is so important that you all felt the need to skip classes in order to speak with the Headmaster. Who is currently busy with other, more important, affairs?"

None of the students in front of him looked regretful nor intimidated of what Glynda just said. In fact, they looked more determined.

"It's about the new T.A. Mr. Arch." Ruby answered with a determined tone. Though Ozpin caught the nervous tinge in her voice.

"And what about Mr. Arch? If this is about what he has done three days ago, then I assure you all that he received the appropriate punishment for his unjust actions." Glynda explained, testing the waters.

However, this seems to be not the case as Ruby shook her head. "It's not that, but something we like to bring to your attention about Mr. Arch, about Julius."

Ruby calling Julius by his first name caught Ozpin's attention. "And what will that be Miss Rose?" He finally asked.

Instead of answering, Ruby turned and looked towards Pyrrha, the young woman seemed greatly uncomfortable with the attention she is now receiving.

However, after taking a moment to breathe, her nervous demeanor was soon replaced with masked determination as she took a single step forward to stand right before Ozpin's desk, her emerald eyes never once leaving Ozpin's the entire way. "Professor Ozpin. Before I tell you what I know. I must first ask… why did you hire someone like Julius? What made you hire him in the first place?"

Ozpin remained silent; his face remained expressionless as his eyes stared into Pyrrha's own unflinching gaze. At that moment Ozpin had a deep inkling as to why Pyrrha, one of his most troubled students, would ask such a question. She wanted to know his stance with the armored knight in question.

"Does Miss Nikos speak for all of you?" Ozpin asked, opening the question to the others in their group. He soon received various nods of agreement from the rest of Team JNPR and RWBY.

Ozpin nodded in understanding. "I see. Then I shall tell you." He then immediately brought his hand up, pre-emptively stopping Glynda before she could voice her own objections. "Glynda. They have to right to know." Ozpin simply said all the while drawing confused as well as concerned gazes amongst both teams.

As soon as Glynda gave a reluctant sigh and backed off, Ozpin spoke. "The reason why I decided to take in Mr. Arch is because as you may already have deduced, he is not from around here." Ozpin paused as he looked towards Pyrrha. "Miss Nikos, when your team returned from your mission two weeks ago with Mr. Arch in tow, I had the chance to talk with him and found out where he came from and the kind of man he is underneath that armor."

Ozpin, satisfied that he now has his student's sole attention, turned his wheelchair to face towards his office windows, staring purposely at the outside world. "Where Mr. Arch comes from and from what he had willingly shared… I can only describe as a literal hellscape devoid of peace."

There was a moment of silence. "What do you mean professor?" Pyrrha asked in a confused but concerned tone.

Ozpin took a moment to take a sip from his mug before answering. "If I'm not mistaken, you all faced Mr. Arch in combat, talked and observed him to some extent. Take a moment, if you will, to understand what kind of man Julius is like underneath that armor. In short, tell me what you think of him." Ozpin then turned his chair back towards the various gazes of his students, giving them expecting looks.

There was nothing but silence as it pervaded the room. Ruby, Nora and Yang Xiao Long were occasionally giving concerned looks towards an uncomfortable looking Pyrrha, all said individuals were clearly uncomfortable with answering the question and holding back their opinions.

Ren, Weiss and Blake Belladonna, on the other hand, wore more serious expression, though Weiss's and Ren's expressions are more thoughtful, Blake's can only be described as a furious scowl.

Ozpin waited for an answer but soon realized he would receive none anytime soon. "Please, I implore you all to speak your mind. You will not be reprimanded for doing so." Ozpin urged with a soft tone.

Still, there was clear hesitation amongst them, especially with Pyrrha, Ruby, Yang and Nora. However, Ozpin noticed their hesitation was not out of potentially disrespecting the T.A. underneath his employ. No, like before they were deliberately holding back their opinions, they looked to Pyrrha with not only hesitant glances but also looks of pity and concern.

Of course, not all of them were silent.

"The Knight is a ruthless, racist scum with no concept of mercy or selflessness. He goes against everything a Huntsman stands for and represents everything wrong in this world and Humanity."

Ozpin drew his attention towards the normally quiet member of Team RWBY. And by the initial gasp from Ruby and Nora as well as drawing the numerous glares from the rest of her friends, what Blake said was more then insensitive if Pyrrha visibly biting her lower lip and tightened her hands into fists were of any indication.

Before anything could happen, Ozpin gave a curt nod towards the black-haired Faunus. "Thank you for sharing your thoughts Miss Belladonna. Does she speak for the rest of you?" Ozpin asked as he slowly swept his gaze across the students in front of him.

He observed the students in front of him and the silence he received slightly surprised him.

Ozpin expected Blake's friends to refute her statement, especially Pyrrha and Ruby, to argue against what she said about Julius. However, while the rest of Team RWBY, as well as Team JNPR, looked like they wanted to argue against Blake's opinion, none stepped forth as every one of their expressions was varying degrees of frustration and pragmatic acceptance.

Ozpin simply took a sip from his mug before speaking. "I see… You all share the same opinion as Miss Belladonna." Ozpin then placed his mug on the table. "Now what I want you all to do is imagine Mr. Arch's origins. Where he trained, where he received his armor and weapons, where warriors of his caliber are needed."

Silence descended upon both teams as they contemplated just what Ozpin is insinuating. He can see the looks of confusion as well as expressions of deep thought playing out amongst their more intelligent members.

Deducing that none of the students will come up with an answer any time soon, Ozpin gave a silent sigh. "Do you know what I see in Julius?" Ozpin's question immediately caught the attention of both teams. Good.

Ozpin steepled his hands together on the table before him. "I see a troubled soul. An individual who was forced to adapt to his very surroundings, who was forced to change himself to the point where he is no longer the person he once was, all in order to survive."

Ozpin then locked eyes with Blake, her scowl is one of stern indifference.

"Blake." Said girl immediately met Ozpin's gaze. "Where you see Julius as ruthless, I see someone who was taught without an ounce of compassion and to never harbor it for others. Where you see a racist, I see an individual who is taught to hate his enemies and all those like them. Where you see an individual who is supposed to show mercy and selflessness, I see an individual who received none in return."

Ozpin then leaned forwards; his brows creased into a serious expression. "And where you see a Huntsman meant to uphold all that is right. I see a weapon whose sole purpose is to bring an end to those he perceives as his enemy, no matter the cost."

Ozpin then slowly picked up his mug and drank the rest of its contents, letting what he just said sink in with the students.

After taking a rather lukewarm drink, Ozpin looked to the more than uncomfortable looking teams of RWBY and JNPR. "So let me ask you all once more. Where do you think Julius comes from where weapons like him are needed?"

Silence. That's all Ozpin received.

"Did you know?"

Ozpin's eyes met Pyrrha's once more. "Know what exactly Miss Nikos?"

Pyrrha held a fist against her chest with an expression of restrained anger. "Did you know, that Julius Arch is actually…"

Pyrrha paused as her eyes shut tight, her breathing became ragged as well as clenching her fists even tighter. The worried and concerned expressions returned for her team and friends, but none moved to reconcile or comfort the struggling champion of Mistral.

Ozpin simply closed his eyes, knowing exactly what his most troubled student meant.

"Yes."

Silence once again descended on the group, Ozpin received numerous subtle looks of shock from the children in front of him, he simply kept his eyes closed and let the silence permeate the air.

That is until said silence was broken by Pyrrha.

"Why… why did you not tell us? Why hide this from us for this long? From his own friends?" Pyrrha demanded in a chillingly soft tone. Tears soon fell freely down her face.

Ozpin replied. "Pyrrha. I understand what you're going through right now, truly I do. But you have to understand that Jaun-"

"DON'T YOU DARE SAY THAT NAME!" Pyrrha screamed with tear-filled rage, her semblance unconsciously activating as the large gears underneath Ozpin's floor stopped and groaned in protest. Immediately Nora and Ren moved to hold the champion back as well as trying to calm her down. At the same time, Ozpin noticed Glynda's weapon of choice already in her hand, ready to subdue the girl at a moment notice.

However, despite this, Pyrrha continued. "How can you say that! You don't know what it is like to lose someone you loved for so long, only for them to suddenly come back changed! Changed into someone different! Changed into a MONSTER! Tell me! How you can ever understand what I'm going through! TELL ME!"

Ozpin closed his eyes as Pyrrha glared hatefully at him. He knew all too well what the distraught girl in front of him is going through. The feeling of finally reuniting with the one you gave your heart and soul too, to finally be with them after being separated by the cold hands of death. Only to later find out the soul-crushing truth that the very one you grew to love in the past is no longer the same person you used to know all those years ago.

And in their stead… is a monster born from hate and scorn.

Ozpin knew those feelings all to well, what the young girl in front of him is going through. But Pyrrha doesn't know that, none of the children in front of him knew that. Not even his closest allies knew the truth of his past. No one could know. He can't afford for them to know.

How can he?

"You are right Pyrrha. I do not understand what you are going through." Ozpin lied in a soft tone. Pyrrha at this point managed to calm herself down but still held a stern glare. "Then why did you hide this from us? From me!?" Pyrrha demanded angrily.

Ozpin let out a silent sigh. "It's because Jau- Julius didn't want for all of you to know. He wished to keep his past identity such as that. A past identity." He explained.

"What do you mean? Are you telling us that he knew of us this entire time?" Ren, the more level-headed individual of their group asked before Pyrrha could say anything.

Ozpin nodded. "Yes. It was my belief that by hiring Mr. Arch he would once again familiarize himself with Beacon and reunite with all of you as well as take up the mantle of being a true Huntsman." Ozpin paused, gauging both teams' reactions before continuing. "However… I have sorely underestimated Julius's character as well as his personal resolve."

There was a moment of silence as every one of his students digested the information they just received. "His resolve for what exactly?" Ruby asked hesitantly.

"His resolve to end the Grimm. To bring about Mankind's victory and the total eradication of the Grimm." Ozpin answered, much to the shock of both teams.

"That's impossible! Even if Mr. Arch is incredibly strong and has powerful weapons and armor, he can't achieve that all by himself! No one can!" Weiss stated with clear disbelief in her voice.

However, Ozpin simply held his serious gaze. "I assure you all this was not said lightly by Mr. Arch. If given the chance, there is no doubt in my mind that he would venture out of the campus grounds as well as Vale itself and go on a lone crusade against the Grimm." Ozpin explained, thinking back to his conversation with Julius two weeks prior.

"Then what's stopping him?" Yang asked in a serious tone which Ozpin immediately answered. "As I explained before, I hired Mr. Arch not only in the hopes of him returning to Beacon on his own will, but also promising him the resources at my disposal so he could fight against the Grimm far more effectively then if he were to do so alone. He accepted my offer and since now worked as a T.A. for Glynda here." Ozpin gestured to said woman as Glynda nodded in affirmation.

Ozpin watched as the students in front of him replied with various answers of understanding, except for both Pyrrha and Blake, both were giving him silent glares each. After all, out of all of them Pyrrha is the only one who knows of the true enemy and no doubt already deduced his true intentions for Julius. Fortunately for him Pyrrha seemed content of not sharing her thoughts, no doubt fearing of dragging her friends into his secret war.

Blake, on the other hand, most likely thought his plan to return Julius to the fold was ludicrous at best. After what has happened between her and Julius, even Ozpin had to agree with the silent member of Team RWBY. But despite her misgivings with said knight, Ozpin saw Julius as an enigma that Ozpin needed to fight against his true enemy, after all, Julius is an unknown factor to Salem, one that Ozpin cannot afford to simply throw away.

"Now that you all know of Mr. Arch's identity and who he used to be. What are you all now going to do?" Ozpin asked, he already knew the answer, he just needed to hear it.

As Ozpin predicted, Ruby Rose was the first to answer. "We're going to get Jaune back."

Ozpin genuinely smiled at Ruby. Naïve? Yes, a naïve goal indeed. But Ruby Rose's determination and hope for good is one of her few natural traits that Ozpin cannot help but admire. Many Huntsmen who has seen how cruel the world is would admonish the young Huntress-in-training for holding such naïve views. Ozpin himself saw many of these very same Huntsmen and Huntresses-in-training change to a grimmer outlook on life after they graduated from Beacon.

Ruby on the other hand, instead of losing hope for the world only became more determined to do good after the Battle of Beacon, especially after witnessing the death of a dear friend. No doubt she feels responsible for not saving Jaune's life that very night. And now she sees a chance to save the very friend they once knew.

If it were only that easy.

"Unfortunately Miss Rose, it will not be that simple." Ozpin said, gaining the attention of all the students.

"I have to agree." The somber voice of Pyrrha cut in as she drew her gaze on Ruby's own. "Ruby. I spoke to… Julius a day ago and he is no longer the Jaune that we all know. And if what Ozpin said is true, then Julius does remember us, ALL of us, and he still chooses not to be with us. He also hurt Blake. He also hurt me." Pyrrha said, her expression Ozpin has seen on numerous Huntsmen and Huntresses.

Pyrrha Nikos has given up.

However, Ruby simply smiled. "Nope!"

Pyrrha's eyes widened before frowning. "Ruby, it's-"

"Nope! And I will not hear another word that Jaune is gone forever! He's here, he came back, that much is confirmed. Though he is not the Jaune that we remember, it is our job as his friends to remind him of who he once was." Ruby then approached Pyrrha and hugged her around the waist, much to the champion's surprise. "He's was once our friend Pyrrha. He would do the same for you. For all of us."

Those very words seemed to reignite the embers of hope for Pyrrha as Ozpin watched with a proud smile as she slowly but surely returned Ruby's hug with a smile. "Yes Ruby, he would. Thank you for reminding me."

Ozpin couldn't help but smile somberly at this tender moment, even when both Nora and Yang joined in, giving their own vocal support to their cause while both Weiss and Ren were giving subtle smiles at this tender moment.

"You're all fools."

The tender moment vanished as Ruby, Yang, Pyrrha and Nora broke their hug and stared at the individual who said those words.

Blake continued, glaring angerly at the group in front of her. "Did you all forget what he did to me! To all of us! You're all so naively blind! Saying you will bring Jaune back! That that MONSTER will simply be convinced to change his ways! You're all fools to think this is ever going to work!" Blake spat in a rare emotion of anger.

Ruby was the first to speak. "Blake, we don't know if we don't tr-"

"Ruby. I know better than anyone in this room firsthand what people like HIM are like. They simply don't change! They are so blinded with hate and spite that they willingly sacrifice those around them to further their own goals! They are irredeemable and we will fail if we try."

Ozpin silently watched as Blake vented her frustrations and anger. Despite what she was saying, Ozpin found himself agreeing to many of her points. Often there are those who are so filled with hate, anger and revenge that they rather see the world burn if it means it will give them a single moment of satisfaction.

Ozpin should know, he failed to save many of these same individuals.

"Blake! Jaune was not like that! We can get Jaune back! If we all work together-"

"And I'm telling you we will fail!"

"And how do you know that Blake? Why are you so sure that we will all fail?"

"Because I don't want to see my friends be hurt by another monster!"

There was a moment of silence. "You're talking about Adam aren't you." Yang stated.

Blake for her part nodded her head, exhausted. "Yes… Yang you lost your arm because of Adam. He came here to Beacon and nearly killed you. I was helpless to save you." Blake said, her tone filled with guilt and shame. "He came here looking for me. He wanted to hurt me for leaving him. He wanted to take away all I came to love just to spite me."

Blake's expression turned serious. "After that night I ran away because I believe as long as I was around, you all will be targeted by Adam. Because he knows to hurt me the most, he would just have to target anyone of you. But after Yang convinced me to return to Beacon, I made another promise to myself that none of you will be hurt by Adam or another monster like him." Blake explained in a serious tone.

Ozpin watched as Yang approached Blake and raised her right hand, which was coincidentally her prosthetic arm, and flicked Blake's forehead.

Thwack! "OW! Yang what ar-"

"That! Is for being an idiot. Again." Before Blake could retort Yang pulled Blake into a hug. "And this. Is to assure you that we'll be fine no matter what you say."

Blake at first tried to break the hug, but Miss Xiao Long's strength kept the faunus in her grasp. So after a futile attempt, Blake simply gave up. "Yang. You have to see Ruby's plan to change that monster is foolishly hopeless." Blake said in a frustrated tone.

"I know." Yang simply replied.

"Then why-" Yang interrupted Blake by breaking their hug and held the faunus at arm's length. "Because Blake, that same night we faced Adam you and I were alone, and I charged in recklessly and lost an arm for it." Yang then brought Blake into a one-arm hug and turned themselves towards the rest of their friends. "But who we are dealing with is not Adam, but none the less dangerous. Pyrrha and Ruby are going to try and bring back Jaune from that 'Monster' you're so fond of. Right now they need all the help they can get, and as a member of Team RWBY you must pitch in and help your team leader when she sets her mind on something, no matter how 'foolishly naïve' it is! After all you said it yourself, you don't want to see anyone of us hurt by another monster like Adam."

Blake's defiant expression faltered at Yang's words. "Yes, I did. That's why I think we all should simply leave him alone. Otherwise, he will hurt someone else." Blake reasoned rather weakly, something that did little to deter Yang. "Blake. No matter what you say, I am one hundred percent sure that Ruby, as well as all of Team JNPR, will go and try to get Jaune back regardless of what you just said. So as the only two people who faced a 'Monster' and survived, we should make sure both Ruby and Pyrrha are kept safe and look out for them. After all, you don't want them to end up like us, right?" Yang said with a tone of finality.

Those very last words seemed to resonate with something within Blake as her very gaze met with Pyrrha's own pleading ones as well as Ruby's.

After breaking her gaze from Ruby's and finally meeting the reassuring gaze of Yang's, Blake took a deep breath. "Alright."

Immediately Yang mouth morphed into a toothy smile as she tightened her one arm hug around Blake, much to said girl's discomfort. "That's the spirit partner!"

Pyrrha gave her own smile towards the normally apathetic member of Team RWBY. "Thank you for giving this a chance Blake."

The entire time Ozpin simply observed as a bystander to the childr- no. Not children. The Huntresses in front of him.

Despite the commendable words from both Ruby Rose and her sister, Yang Xiao Long, the task ahead of them will be harsh, the chance of them succeeding is all but non-existent. Especially what has occurred before their very arrival. "I commend you all for your willingness for the task to bring back your friend. Unfortunately, your mission that you all given yourselves will be… difficult." Ozpin said, interrupting their tender moment.

Ruby replied with a determined look. "Professor Ozpin we can do this! We're Jaune's friends, just give us a chance to do so." Ruby argued as Nora jumped in. "Yeah! We will get our fearless leader back in no time! Isn't that right Ren!"

"Yes."

"Pyrrha!"

"I am determined."

"Yang!"

"You know it!"

"Weiss!"

"You all will just drag me along anyways. I'm in."

"Good! Blake!"

"Blake!"

"Blaaaaaaaaake!"

"Fine."

Ozpin shook his head as Glynda spoke in his stead. "Ruby, Nora. I do not doubt you and all your friend's conviction to carry out such a delicate task. However, what transpired just minutes ago will make your task far more difficult." Glynda explained.

Both adults received concerned looks from both teams. "Professors what do you mean-"

Whatever Pyrrha was going to say was suddenly interrupted when the elevator behind both teams chimed.

Soon the elevator doors opened to reveal Ozpin's newest guest and the one he has been anticipating the most.

"I hope I am not interrupting anything, am I?" Dr. Polendina politely asked as he exited the elevator and entered the room.

"No you were not interrupting anything at all. I was just finished talking with my students." Ozpin replied.

Archmagos Polendinius or Dr. Polendina as the inhabitants of this world call him, nodded in reply as he made his way out of the elevator lift confines and into the headmaster's office.

Other then Ozpin and his aide Glynda, Polendinius immediately surveyed the seven individuals within the Headmaster's office. His neural link to Beacon's own data banks, as well as his connection to the Kingdom's CCT, pulled up each of their statistics and identities within seconds of looking at them. His optical, biometric and heat sensors also added to his collected data.

Polendinius scanned through the information, immediately recognizing all of Team RWBY, especially Subject 05 Ruby Rose as well as Subject 04, Weiss Schnee. As for the second team, Team JNPR, he knows them by extension of Team RWBY but that was all.

However, though his face expresses moderate calm, he spared a mere millisecond of attention to Subject 06, Blake Belladonna.

Polendinius internally frowned before archiving Subject 06's data for later use. "I apologize for my tardiness; I was just done hashing out the final details with my new agent for his transfer." The Archmagos explained with his usual deceptive smile.

The headmaster, sitting behind his desk, simply nodded. "Do not worry yourself. You are here. We can finally get down to business."

Polendinius noticed Subject 03 Yang Xiao Long whispering to the others.

"Who's the old guy?" Subject 03 asked to no one in particular.

Polendinius took this opportunity to turn his attention towards Subject 03 and the other occupants. He then put on a smile. "Oh, how rude of me not to introduce myself to you all! I go by numerous names, but you may refer to me as Dr. Polendina." The Archmagos greeted in a friendly tone as he reached out his hand towards subject 03 for a handshake.

Polendinius sensors noticed an increase of heart pulsation in both Subject 04, Weiss Schnee, as well as Subject 05, Ruby Rose. His visual optics, or "eyes", saw both of their own widening in recognition, the former went so far as to gasp in surprise.

Subject 04 is easily recognizable, she is the ex-heiress of the Schnee Company who about a year ago disappeared from her home in Atlas. However, Polendinius limited interest was not with the runaway heiress but the very girl next to her, Ruby Rose. The very same girl that had formed a close relationship with Project P.E.N.N.Y.

Before Subject 03 could take his hand, Subject 04 suddenly blindsided Subject 03 to the floor before immediately taking his hand.

"Dr. Polendina It is TRULY an honor to meet you! My name is Weiss Schnee of Team RWBY." Subject 04 greeted with a polite but nonetheless eager smile. Subject 03 meanwhile is currently mumbling quiet profanities and picking herself up from the floor.

"Geez Weiss. What's got you so worked up about? Like to share who this old guy is?" Subject 03 asked, sending a glare towards Subject 04. Her question is then immediately met with an incredulous glare from Subject 04. "Yang show some respect! This OLD MAN just happens to be THE Dr. Polendina! The Father of Technology! The Future of Atlas! He is the sole reason why Atlas is considered THE most advanced kingdom on Remnant! He invented the CCT Network! The Atleasian Air Ships! The Atlas AK Droid Series! He even invented the very scrolls you are using right now you ignorant dunce!" Subject 04 lectured with a passion that reminded Polendinius of the preaching priests of the Ecclesiarchy.

The Archmagos himself was no stranger to those who wish to win his favor, but that does not mean he enjoys the type of attention. But alas, he must keep up appearances as Dr. Polendina, the Father of Technology. "Ha ha ha! You give me too much credit Miss Schnee. It is a pleasure to finally meet you as well as the rest of your friends of Team RWBY." Polendinius smiled as the young woman in front of him returned a polite smile. "The pleasure is all ours Dr. Polendina. And please, I was simply giving credit where credit is due."

Polendina nodded as he turned his attention to the one that caught his limited interest, Subject 05, Ruby Rose, who wore an expression between hesitation and concern. "And you must be Ruby Rose, leader of Team RWBY. I've heard much about you from my daughter." Polendinius simply said. Subject 05 moment of hesitation quickly past as her expression turned into an expression of worry.

"Penny told you about me?" Polendinius mutely nodded. "I am so sorry for what happened to her. I-"

"It is alright." Ruby Rose went to retort but Polendinius continued. "Penny was my greatest creation. But she was so much more than that. She is the closest to what I can call… family."

Of course Polendinius was telling half-truths. Subject P.E.N.N.Y was his greatest creation on this planet, nothing could even come close to what he managed to achieve with her. She was meant to be the first of many, the perfect being of flesh and machine and him the father of a new age.

Though the destruction of Subject P.E.N.N.Y was a major setback, it was just that, a temporary setback. In time he can make another, but of course, none of these humans, still bound to their morals of the flesh, could ever understand the vision he and the Omnissiah have for mankind on this planet. They would no sooner turn against him if he even a glimpse of his visions for the future, the aftermath and political backlash of P.E.N.N.Y's death was proof enough.

But right now, Ruby Rose and the other humans don't want to hear his plans or the Omnissiah's vision, they want to hear the grievances of a lone human seemingly aged by time.

After all, he is Dr. Polendina, the Father of Technology.

The Archmagos then turned towards Subject 02, Pyrrha Nikos, who looked just as guilty as Ruby Rose, no doubt blaming herself for directly "killing' his most prized creation. "As for you Pyrrha Nikos, I do not blame you for what has happened. Either of you. "

Polendinius watched as both Ruby and Pyrrha looked towards him with surprised expressions. "Thank you Dr. Polendina. I think we needed to hear that." Subject 02 said in a genuine tone of thanks.

The Archmagos returned the smile with one of his own. "Anytime. Well then! With that out of the way, I believe we have some business to conduct Ozpin." Polendinius said as he turned his attention back towards the headmaster in question.

The Headmaster nodded. "Yes to the business at hand. Team RWBY, Team JNPR, we shall continue our discussion some other time." Ozpin said addressing both teams in the room. Polendinius observed as Subject 02 and Ruby Rose shared concerned looks before Ruby nodded towards the headmaster. "Yes, Professor Ozpin."

Soon both teams made their way towards the elevator. But before Subject 02 entered the elevator, she gave one last look towards Polendinius before entering the closing elevator.

As soon as the elevator doors closed, Polendinus turned his attention back towards Ozpin as well as his aide, Glynda Goodwitch. "Now. To the business at hand."

Ozpin simply frowned. "Yes… to business."

All pretense of friendliness is now gone as Polendinius partially dropped his facade and leveled a calculating stare onto Ozpin's own, choosing to ignore the permeant scowl the Headmaster's aide is directing at him completely.

Both men know how the next few moments are going to play out. The question on Polendinius's mind is how would Ozpin, a man that secretly plays an unseen game of regicide for the fate of Remnant, will spin the results of his meeting with Julius to his favor?

Only one logical way to find out. "I am here to inform you that Julius Arch has accepted my terms of employment and has vested interest in becoming my personal agent."

Ozpin mutely nodded. "Yes. I figured that was the case."

Poledinius held his smile. The Archmagos knew through Beacon's networks that Ozpin had hidden cameras within the very arena where he talked with Julius. Fortunately, all Ozpin could see was a fabricated video pict that he created during his trip to Beacon. It was a simple task for the Archmagos to hack into the pict feeds of the cameras and place the fabricated video for cover.

And concerning Ozpin's current behavior and heat/brain signatures, the Headmaster is none the wiser.

"As soon as you sign these documents here, I will be taking Julius from your care and into mine." Polendinius explained as he pulled a set of documents from his coast and placed them on Ozpin's desk.

For a moment Ozpin simply stared calculatingly at the papers on his desk, his aide Goodwitch is constantly shifting her eyes between the Archmagos himself and the headmaster. One of Polendinus's multi-scanners noticed an increase in brain activity in Ozpin.

Soon enough, Ozpin finally reached out and held the documents in one hand and a pen in another. His eyes moving side to side as he meticulously read through each of the documents and signed where he needed to sign.

Soon Ozpin came to the last document, deliberately taking more time to read through the page. No doubt to gather his thoughts and plan his next move.

"Everything seems to be in order… Pietro."

Polendinius gave a slight frown. Ozpin used his first name, the first time since his arrival here in Beacon.

Ozpin must feel confident, his heartbeat is steady and bodily heat temperate.

Ozpin set down the documents, eyes boring into his own. "However… as you know, Julius has not received his first payment."

Polendinius raised a curious eyebrow. "Is that so… Then if that is the case-"

"As you may already know. Here in Beacon Academy and in Vale, before we release an employee from service, they will continue to work until they officially receive their next and final payment. Only until then are they free to seek other opportunities. As Mr. Arch's direct superior, I must abide by the common laws set between Beacon Academy and the Council of Vale or legal action can be taken by the Council of Vale under the lines of breach of the common laws." Ozpin explained, his aide nodding along with what Ozpin just said.

Polendinius frowned. He was not ignorant of the Common Laws set between the Academy and the Council of Vale, laws which cannot be changed without both parties present to discuss such changes. This means Polendinius can rule out using his vast connections as well as his fame to persuade for such laws to be overlooked, especially with a man such as Ozpin.

However, the laws themselves are not important, Polendinius can clearly see that Ozpin is buying time to put whatever he had planned into motion with this common law. If that is the case…

"It appears I have no choice in this matter. Fortunately for the both of us, Julius shall receive his final payment as of today."

Polendiniu's noticed Ozpin's heart rate rose and his brain activity increased before immediately lowering back to normal levels. "Julius's payment is not due until next week."

Polendinius smiled. "Oh, I am sure you already sent his paycheck. Why don't you check." The Archmagos suggested. Ozpin's immediately looked towards his aide as she is already tapping away at her personal data slate.

Glynda's eyes widened before setting a scathing glare on Polendinius's own. "What did you do?"

The Archmagos smiled. "I simply took the liberty of transferring his final payment from Beacon's own accounts directly into Julius's Huntsman account that you generously created for him." Polendinius explained, not bothering to lie in the first place.

Because with someone like Ozpin who drabble in numerous secrets and unknown plots, the truth is often the greatest weapon of confusion against such a man.

"You hacked into Beacon's accounts and initiated the transfer! This is a criminal offence!" The Combat Professor exclaimed all the while advancing on Polendinius's position, with her weapon already out to subdue him.

++POSSIBILITY OF HOSTILE ACTION: 98%++

++DEFENSIVE MEASURES ACTIVE++

"GLYNDA! That is enough!" Said woman whipped her head towards the Headmaster. "But Ozpin-"

"Glynda. Stand down at once."

There was clear hesitation in Glynda's eyes, but ultimately, she lowered her weapon but still held her scathing glare, something that had no effect on Polendinius.

Once more Ozpin leveled a calculating glare. "Why?"

One word. All it took is for one single word to convey all of Ozpin's current thoughts to Polendinius. A single word with numerous hidden meanings that share the same result.

And he shall answer. "Because I am done waiting. With Julius Arch now by my side, I fully intend to end this farce of a war you have with Salem."

His point stands, with men like Ozpin the truth will confuse them far more often than a lie. Case in point with how Ozpin's calm and disciplined expression shattering into shock, confusion and might he say fear. Polendinius's scanners showed a sharp increase in heart rate, body heat, and brain activity.

Ozpin's aide, on the other hand, is quicker to recover from her shock as she drew her weapon and pointed it at Polendinius.

BZZZT! "AA-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-A-AH!" Glynda screamed as she collapsed onto the floor, paralyzed and bright static lacing all around her body.

"Glynda!" Ozpin exclaimed in shock.

"I suggest you don't try that again." Polendinius warned lowering his left hand as his Arc Mechadendrite retreated into his sleeve. "Now then. Back to business."

Ozpin only spared a few seconds to check his aide's condition before turning his attention back towards the Archmagos, his face set in stone. "How long have you known about Salem."

Polendinius replied. "After the Battle of Beacon. After Cinder Fall destroyed my most prized creation. It wasn't hard to find out the identity of the one who sent Cinder. Though I had to dig deep, but eventually I got a name and a target directly from Ironwood himself."

Ozpin frowned. "James told you of Salem?" Polendinius shook his head. "No. I simply restored his deleted files about Salem as well as his messages and scroll conversations he had with you." Polendinius explained as Ozpin's aide stood back up on shaky legs, breathless and clutching her right arm covering the scorched area.

Ozpin's frown deepened; no doubt frustrated with the General's lack of care with such secrets. "And how does Julius Arch play into all this?" Ozpin asked in a serious manner.

This time, Polendinius gave a genuine chuckle. "Ozpin. You already know the answer to that question." Polendinius, finished with this conversation, collected the signed documents on Ozpin's desk. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have more important business to attend to." Polendinius said before making his way towards the elevators.

"Pietro! A moment if you will!"

Polendinius stopped right before the elevator doors before pressing the button to call up the elevator.

"I have fought against Salem for many years in secret! She is dangerous and surrounds herself with equally as dangerous adversaries, adversaries that will no doubt target you if you make any move against her."

Polendinius patiently waited for the elevator doors to open. "If you wage open war against her, many thousands will die as a result. And the ensuing chaos will tear each of the four kingdoms apart!"

Finally, the elevator chimed as the doors opened, Polendinius tidied his documents before stepping into the elevator.

"Polendina! Without my help. You. Will. Fail!"

Polendinius held the elevator doors open with his right hand, his back still facing the headmaster and his aide.

"Your help? And why would I need that?" Polendinius questioned. But before Ozpin could possibly answer, the Archmagos continued. "From what I've gathered, your failure to take action against Salem and her adversaries already lead to the near destruction of both Vale and Beacon and the death of thousands."

Polendinius is an Archmagos. To say he will fail is an impossibility. He worked with the best probabilities, gathered the best of resources, and most importantly use factual data to win his battles.

And the very fact here is, Polendinius will indeed fail if he worked with Ozpin. That is a fact backed by his own data. "It is your failure to act that led to the destruction of my most prized creation. It was your failure that Cinder Fall infiltrated and nearly destroyed Beacon Academy and made off with the power of a Maiden."

Polendinius received no immediate reaction from Ozpin but did not care. "Unlike you, I will not fail. I will bring about Humanity's dominance over this world and eradicate Salem once and for all. After all…"

Polendinius then turned fully towards Ozpin. Only when he met the human's gaze did the Archmagos completely dropped his façade of a human. The cold and truly emotionless stare he gave Ozpin made the usually calm man visibly flinch and clench his chair in reaction.

++I am Archmagos Polendinius. Loyal servant of the Omnissiah++

Polendinius then stepped backwards into the elevator all the while holding his gaze with a now shocked Ozpin. Soon the elevator doors shut and started its descent.

The Archmagos is now left in silence. Polendinius pondered back on what he did, showing Ozpin a glimpse of his true self and spoke the name of the one he worshiped.

But in the end, it does not matter. Ozpin wouldn't dare reveal what had occurred in his office this day, too many risks and just as many secrets kept the Headmaster in check. And unlike Ozpin, Polendinius is not tied down by his secrets and any risk to himself is negligible.

After all, he is an Archmagos of the Adeptus Mechanicus. Calculating, pragmatic, intelligent and always in control.

And soon, this very world will know the glory of the Omnissiah.

Location: Beacon Academy, Air Docks

The halls were empty, void of other humans and of the abhuman ilk that may impede him.

Only the loud footfalls of Julius Arch accompanied him as he made his way towards the schola's main gates. His destination was given to him by the Archmagos a mere hour ago after there meeting. Julius is to meet with the one who will assist them in their mission against the one behind the daemonic incursion on this world.

Salem.

The Emperor has brought him here to cleanse this world of the daemonic taint of the Grimm and have brought others of His loyal Imperium to aid him so. Now Julius has a target and he shall see to it that Salem and all those who serve her will be dealt with.

Permanently.

Julius soon turned the last corner and entered the expansive halls of the entryway leading to the schola's gates, wide open showing a glimpse of the outside world. Julius soon passed through the gates and into the schola's courtyard, finding himself surrounded by familiar overarching rockcrete architectures and in front of him a statue made of the same material.

Julius did not fail to notice who the statue represented but still gave it little attention as the Grey Knight made his way past it and onwards towards his current destination.

There were students wandering around in the courtyard, but their attention was not on Julius but instead on the Atleasian Airship docked into Beacon's middle port and what was arrayed in front of the large warship.

Julius sees two full companies of Atlesian soldiers numbering 200 bodies standing in neat ranks in front of a large ramp leading straight up into the Airship's interior. Each of these soldiers wore what seems to be basic flak armor painted white that covered their torso, shoulders, knees and forearms as well as white standard helmets with black visors that obscured their eyes. Each is wielding what appears to be the Atlesian military standard of an autogun, slim in form and painted white and black.

Standing in front of this large company of soldiers made Julius's thoughts paused for a mere moment. Standing ten men wide and two ranks deep are two full squads of Tempestus Scions. Though they may not be the same Scions from the Imperium, each of these soldiers were wearing and wielding the standard wargear of their imperial counterparts while standing at silent attention.

But it was not the Tempestus Scions that gave Julius pause but instead the two figures standing in front of the entire array of soldiers.

The first was a stern-faced man standing straight, hands held behind his back, chin held high and eyes fully trained onto Julius's approaching form. He is currently wearing a black standard officer uniform completed with an officer coat and a wide brim officer's cap of the same color, all combining to make the man look reminiscent of the Commissariat of the Astra Militarum. Hidden partially underneath his coat the man has a sword sheathed on his left and an auto pistol holstered on his right but made no move to draw either as Julius approached.

'This must be General Gainsboros. He recognizes who I am.' Julius deduced as he observed the man from a distance. As Julius drew near, he then turned his attention towards the one standing beside the General.

This individual stood a mere inch shorter than the General himself and wielded the same wargear as the Tempestus Scion standing behind him. However, what stood immediately out about this soldier was the unmistakable skull painted gas mask he wore.

'A Death Korps Guardsman. There is no mistaking it. These two must be from the Imperium.' Julius deduced as he compartmentalized his questions for later use. He soon found himself standing before both the general and the Krieg Soldier, the soldier standing much straighter in his presence while the General himself met Julius's gaze without betraying an ounce of emotion.

As Julius stood, towering over the two, General Gainsboros then bowed his head in a respectful manner. "Greetings my lord. I am General Ford Gainsboros of the 13th Battalion of the Atlas Military." The General raised his head and gestured with his left hand towards the Krieg soldier. "This is 1st Lieutenant Grau. My second-in-command as well as commanding officer of the 13th Battalion Shock Troopers."

The now named Lieutenant Grau bowed his head in the same respectful manner as the General did. "We have been waiting for your arrival my lord."

Underneath Julius's helm, his eyebrows raised ever so slightly at the Lieutenant. 'He is actually a she.' Julius thought, immediately correcting his earlier assumptions. The knight also noticed the confused and open mouth surprise from some of the soldiers behind the General, many of whom were openly looking to their neighbors for answers.

The Tempestus Scions were the only ones who kept their silent discipline. If they expressed any emotion it was hidden well underneath their Omnishield Helms.

Bringing his thoughts back to the task at hand, Julius turned his attention back to the General. "You know who I am. What has Polendinius told you?" Julius questioned in a hard tone, his helm visors glaring into the General's eyes.

General Gainsboros answered with a nod. "Yes, my lord, Dr. Polendina informed me about your presence here at Beacon Academy. But if I may suggest, we should save this conversation in the privacy of my ship when the Doctor arrives. There are too many ears listening in on this conversation already." Gainsboros pointed out, something Julius was not ignorant of.

It was decided with the Archmagos that any and all information about the Imperium and their own origins should be kept a secret, despite Julius already sharing information with Ozpin and his cabal of followers. The Archmagos assured he would deal with Ozpin when he went to meet with the man and that the information Julius shared will be secured.

Julius nodded. "Agreed."

"To the point then. I wish to not waste more of your time my lor-"

"Champion." Julius interrupted, surprising the General. "Excuse me, my lord?"

"You and your soldiers will address me by my earned title of Champion." Julius corrected, leaving no room for argument in his tone. Julius has fought and bled in countless battles in the defense against Mankind's greatest enemies. His title of Brotherhood Champion was not so easily earned, it is a responsibility and honorable duty given to him by the will of his Chapter.

"Of course Champion. I shall address my men now. This is necessary for them to understand your unique position when you conduct your missions alongside us as well as how they will conduct themselves around you during the duration of your stay with us." The General explained.

Julius understood and nodded for the general to give address his soldiers. The General then curtly nodded back in thanks before he and the Lieutenant turned crisply to face their soldiers, who all immediately stood straighter underneath their attention.

"Soldiers of Atlas! Standing before you is the pinnacle of Humanity's defenders! A true Champion of Humanity and he will be addressed rightfully as such!" General Gainsboros announced with conviction benefitting his rank. Julius is unbothered by the General's showcasing him in such a light, as long as the soldiers before him learn of his importance towards humanity's salvation upon this world and will endeavor to fight harder for it.

The General continued. "You will afford him the same respect you address me! That is a direct order! If anyone fails to abide by this then I will execute the soldier who dares disrespect the Champion without question! AM I UNDERSTOOD!"

"YES GENERAL!"

Julius scanned the organized array of soldiers, his eyes roaming from one body to the next. It was clear to Julius that these soldiers were disciplined and trained, much like most guardsmen regiments of the Astra Militarum. Julius has fought alongside hundreds of these same regiments, some famously known throughout the Imperium and others who were forgotten in the sands of time.

But in the end, each one of those guardsmen fought and gave their very lives for Mankind. And what Julius sees before him is an army that will do just the same if the General they serve under is any indication to their training and fervor.

He will spend their lives wisely.

"Champion, General. Dr. Polendina is on approach." The Lieutenant spoke.

Julius bodily turned around to see the Archmagos walking towards them at a leisurely pace. Julius immediately noticed the smile on Polendinius's face, but unlike the one the Archmagos uses as part of his fabricated identity, this one is completely genuine, something of an unseen rarity amongst the Priesthood of Mars.

Soon the Archmagos stood before him and the General. "How goes your meeting with the headmaster?" The General asked the Archmagos. Polendinius's smile grew in response. "It went very well, General. Ozpin has signed all the necessary forms for Julius's transfer. Speaking of whom…" The Archmagos then turned to Julius. "You are now officially underneath my employ. Congratulations are in order." Polendinius said with honeyed words, but Julius knew better than to think this was all genuine. Afterall their true identities must be kept hidden, which includes how they interact in a public setting.

Julius nodded. "Indeed. I shall endeavor to complete the tasks you set before me. Dr. Polendina." Julius replied in a rare show of obedience. Before becoming the Brotherhood Champion of the 1st Brotherhood, Julius worked alongside numerous Inquisitors of the Ordo Malleus, many of whom understand that a Grey Knight is not a subservient servant but the greatest warrior of the God-Emperor against his most hated enemies of the Warp.

Only the most respected and experienced of Inquisitors can demand anything from the Grey Knights, and even then, these same Inquisitors show respect towards the Grey Knight's sole mission to the total eradication of the Daemon, the Heretic and the Unclean.

In this present case, however, the Archmagos in front of him is neither an Inquisitor nor a respected figure amongst the Grey Knights. Polendinius's previous affiliation with the Adeptus Mechanicus will garner more scrutiny then trust. The Mechanicus have no respect for the concept of brotherhood nor do they know the very concept. All they see before them are pieces on a regicide board to be used at their leisure.

Though Julius did not fully trust the Archmagos at first, Polendinius's very presence on this world as well as his undeniable affiliation with the Imperium before his reincarnation went far to show that he is NOT Julius's enemy, but instead an ally the God-Emperor has sent to this world to aid him.

The God-Emperor have brought both of them to this very world with the holy mission of bringing an end to the Daemonic threat that chokes this world. If the God-Emperor wills it for Julius to work with the Archmagos, then so it shall be done.

"Excellent! I see you already introduce yourself to the General and his retinue, now without further delay we should discuss the next steps of our plan within the General's office." Polendinius suggested, looking between Julius himself and Gainsboros.

The General nodded. "Of course Doctor. MEN! MAKE WAY AND PREPARE TO DISEMBARK!"

Immediately in a thunderous step of a hundred boots the organized array of soldiers split evenly side to side. Creating a clear path directly towards the ramp of the General's Airship.

Julius soon marched his way down the open path, pacing himself behind the leading General followed closely by both the Archmagos and the Lieutenant.

They were also being escorted closely by the Tempestus Scions as they passed through the array of Atlas soldiers still standing at attention. Soon the group made it to the ramp and proceeded into the Airship's underbelly.

"Ozpin, what you're asking of me is impossible."

Ozpin's expression was set in stone. "James, you know how urgent this is. Polendina knows about Salem and Julius Arch is now officially out of my hands and into his. They both expressed how they are willing to wage open war against Salem. Something that we cannot afford to happen and risk all we have built in the past decades to be destroyed."

"And that's the issue here Ozpin. You keeping Salem a secret from the public and not taking any immediate action against her or her followers has cost many lives in the Battle of Beacon as well as my reputation in Atlas." Ironwood said in a frustrated tone earning him a stern glare from Ozpin. "Other then the fact that what you are asking me to do will no doubt get me discharged or even executed if I get caught, but you are asking me to spy on two of some of the most powerful men in Atlas. One that has the entire Atlas Council in his back pocket and the other who is currently the very face of the Atlas Military." James explained in the same frustrated tone.

Ozpin let out an audible sigh. "I understand what I am asking you is risky James. But the peace we worked so hard to establish after the Battle of Beacon will soon be undone if Polendina has his way. The man is now officially a new player in this war for Mankind's survival, and he is neither on your side nor mine." Ozpin simply explained.

James then took a deep breath, gathering his thoughts before speaking. "I know the risks very well Ozpin. But I cannot openly oppose Polendina as he is now. If what you say is true, then all I can do is make sure to keep the fallout of their war against Salem to a minimum and possibly try to delay them. Other then that, there is not much I can do in terms of subtlety in fear of getting caught by both Polendina and Gainsboros." James then gave Ozpin an apologetic expression. "I am sorry Ozpin, but my hands are tied."

Ozpin closed his eyes in silent frustration as the General closed the call on his end. Right now James is on his ship hovering above Vale, no doubt thinking over the argument they just had.

"Well, that went as well as I expected." *Glup* *Glup* *Glup*

And of course, Ozpin is not alone in his office. To his left is his ever-faithful companion Qrow, interjecting his own opinion and drinking away as usual despite the situation at hand.

"Can you stop drinking and take this seriously for once Qrow!?" And to Ozpin's right is the ever-diligent Glynda, who is upset at Qrow's usual blatant disregard of the situation.

"Oh, I'm sorry... Do you want me to panic and make this a bigger deal then it already is?" Qrow asked rather sarcastically.

"No, but you can start by stop drinking. The last thing we need is for you to be drunk when the possible fate of the world is at risk." Glynda said sternly, her infamous scowl glaring directly at Qrow.

And as expected, Qrow being Qrow ignored Glynda's scowl. "Yeah about that. Never thought I would say this Oz, but Jimmy does have a point." Qrow said while stuffing his flask into his shirt. "We're dealing with one of the scariest individuals on Remnant. And judging from yours and Glynda's reaction about the Doc, he has you both spooked."

Ozpin nodded. "Yes indeed. Polendina is dangerous. He knows about Salem from searching James's deleted files and possibly from other sources, has possibly unlimited access to all four Kingdoms CCT networks and databases, and have the influence and resources of Atlas on hand." Ozpin then leaned back onto his wheelchair, rubbing his eyes. "And he is planning to go to war against Salem."

The situation is indeed dire in Ozpin's view. Polendina does not know the full extent of Salem's power as no scroll or book in this present day has any information of Salem's true power. Ozpin would know, he made sure over countless centuries that no record of Salem exists to this day and he was extremely careful with whom he shared about the existence of Salem, and even then, he wouldn't dare to share as to why Salem cannot be confronted directly.

If they knew. Then they would lose hope, something he cannot afford to happen.

"Do you think he knows about the Relics?" Qrow asked in a concerned tone.

Glynda answered. "I wouldn't pass it by him. Pietro Polendina knew about the Fall Maiden and our failure to protect her and about Salem. We must go on the assumption that Polendina knows everything we know. Even the Relics that are hidden in each of the four academies."

Ozpin nodded. "Glynda is correct. Despite what Pietro knows about Salem and the Relics, we must assume the worst."

Qrow gave Ozpin a concerned frown. "And that would be…?"

Ozpin clasped his hands and placed them on his desk. "He knows about Salem, the Maidens and no doubt the Relics hidden within each of the four academies. We know that Salem wishes to obtain all the Relics for her own, so we could also assume Polendina knows about her goals as well." Ozpin explained.

"So what you're saying Oz is that the Doc is going to each of the four academies and take the Relics and use them against Salem?" Qrow deduced in a concerned tone.

Glynda gave a thoughtful nod as if coming to a conclusion. "Yes. That would make sense. The Relics are, in a sense, powerful weapons in their own right. If he obtains them and uses them against Salem…"

"Then he would be delivering Salem all the Relics on a silver platter." Qrow finished.

Ozpin nodded. "Yes, he would. Which is one of my greatest worries, war being one of the greatest. However, there is the silver lining with the Maidens, but not a hopeful one." Ozpin admitted.

Glynda nodded. "Yes… concerning the fact that Polendina has access to a limitless amount of information, he can find the Maidens in due time. The Fall and Spring Maiden are still out there while the Summer and Winter Maiden are accounted for." Glynda explained, laying down what they already know.

"Yeah about that... I may know where the Spring Maiden is." Qrow said, earning surprised looks from Glynda and Ozpin's sole attention. "The last we heard of her is when she ran away from Haven and was not heard from the last ten years."

Qrow then pulled out his scroll and placed it on Ozpin's desk. Soon a holographic map of Anima appeared in the middle of the room, a highlighted dot appeared on the map. "But I did some digging and recently found our little Maiden in the hands of a bandit tribe. One that I know all too well." Qrow explained, his tone turning unpleasant near the end.

And for good reason. "The Branwen Tribe I presume. Your sister's tribe." Ozpin deduced. Qrow nodded. "Yup. My sister must've found the Spring Maiden and taken her in as part of her tribe. Or worse, killed the Spring Maiden and transferred the powers onto someone else in her tribe. All the better to manipulate." Qrow said as he retrieved his scroll, closing the holo-map.

"Though that is some… good news, it still doesn't change the fact that Polendina is still a major issue. We may know his motives and end goal but his plan to achieve said goals are still unknown." Glynda said something Ozpin couldn't help but agree.

"Glynda is correct." Ozpin spoke. "Despite Polendina's blunt motives, we can also assume he wants to keep Salem a secret. He plans to wage war against her and made it blatantly clear that any interference will have dire consequences. He holds secrets that he cannot afford to share, I can go far as to say he is not the Father of Technology that we all know." Ozpin explained much to the shock of Glynda and Qrow.

Ozpin continued. "We can also assume that the Relic of Choice is not his current objective with the Fall Maiden still at large. Ironwood is personally looking after the Winter Maiden, thus keeping her safe from Polendina's hands for the time being. But I wouldn't pass Polendina to try and get the Winter Maiden." Ozpin explained.

"Then that leaves the Relic of Knowledge and Destruction. Knowledge being the most problematic in more ways than one." Qrow said, stating what was on everyone's minds.

Ozpin nodded. "Agreed Qrow. That is why I am sending you to track down your Sister and convince her to hand over the Spring maiden to us and retrieve the Relic of Knowledge from Leonardo. With the Relic in hand, we can possibly force Polendina in working with us." Ozpin explained. Qrow shook his head. "You know Raven is not going to comply with that." Qrow pointed out.

Ozpin frowned. "She doesn't have a choice in the matter. She either peacefully complies with us or face Polendina." Ozpin explained, not needing to further explain which of the two has the more dire consequences.

Qrow sighed but nodded, nonetheless. "I understand Oz. I'll head out as soon as I get my weapon back from the shop."

Ozpin nodded, however, Glynda spoke. "That still leaves the problem of Polendina. We cannot directly track his movements without significant backlash, and James's hands are tied when it comes to subtlety." Glynda said.

Ozpin nodded. "Correct. If subtlety is something James cannot provide, then as his allies we shall provide a perfect method for him." Ozpin said, much to Glynda's confusion.

"Care to share Ozpin?" Qrow asked.

Instead of answering immediately, Ozpin simply activated his desk's terminal and pulled up a holo-screen. "Correct me if I am wrong. But we have yet to assign Huntsmen to our second-year students to shadow for their upcoming semester on-field assignment." Ozpin asked. The on-field assignment is a semester-long field placement for second-year students where the academy chooses from a roster of active Huntsmen and assign each second-year team to said Huntsmen. The Huntsmen in question could be anyone the academy deems appropriate, from roaming Huntsmen from other kingdoms that travelled the world to even the very faculty of other academies.

Glynda nodded, but hesitantly. "Yes. Where are you going with this exactly?" Glynda asked in a questioning tone.

Ozpin, for the first time, smiled. "I am simply providing James with the perfect way of tracking Polendina's movements." Ozpin explained as he pulled up seven student files onto the screen. Students that he was all to familiar with. "and if I am not mistaken. These students have a personal mission to see through concerning the one now under Polendina's employ."

Qrow frowned. "Ozpin you can't be serious about sending them." Qrow said, voicing his displeasure.

"I have to agree with Qrow on this. This is very delicate as it is and you're planning on sending both Team RWBY and JNPR to spy on Polendina under the cover of an on-field assignment." Glynda said, fully grasping his plan as usual.

Ozpin nodded. "What Glynda said is partially true. I am planning to send one team to Atlas to shadow Ironwood and the other to accompany Qrow to Mistral to retrieve the Relic." Ozpin explained.

Qrow shook his head with a sigh. "Oz I know your tendencies to use unorthodox plans, but this is-"

"I know how this may seem Qrow." Ozpin interrupted. "But this is our best option we have at this very moment. Time is not on our side."

Suddenly the office windows started to rattle as a muted, but distinct, noise of jet engines filled the quiet atmosphere. Ozpin, Qrow and Glynda turned towards the windows just in time to see three distinct Atlesian Airships slowly lifting off the Beacon air docks.

As Ozpin watched the Airships leaving his academy, he soon turned back to his desk. "And our time just got shorter. I am planning on assigning Team RWBY with James and Team JNPR to accompany Qrow." Ozpin explained as he typed away on his terminal.

Qrow sighed. "Alright, Ozpin. If we're going to do this, then they must be told." Qrow said in a serious tone.

Glynda on the other hand disagreed. "Qrow, Ozpin we're NOT dragging both teams into this. They're young and have already suffered enough as it is." Glynda argued, no, pleaded.

Ozpin stopped typing and turned his attention towards Glynda. "Glynda, you and I both know that I made far too many mistakes. The Battle of Beacon being one of which." Ozpin then turned back towards his terminal. "But I will be damned if I can prevent what is to come. I will no longer remain idle when war is on the horizon. And if this is the best way to prevent said war from happening, then I will take it. All I need is for you both to understand why I am doing this." Ozpin explained, his tone conveying how serious he was about the situation.

Glynda held her scowl but ultimately sighed. "Alright. But I ask that they have to know what they are getting into and be given a choice whether or not to join." Glynda said, her tone leaving no room for argument.

Ozpin nodded as he started a call to James once more. "I always give a choice Glynda. It's only right to do so." Ozpin replied. Soon the call went through and the visage of James appeared.

"Ozpin, I swear if this is anoth-"

"No, it's not James." Ozpin interrupted. "I may have found a way for you to keep track of Polendina through legal means." Ozpin explained.

This caught Ironwood by surprise. "What do you have in mind Ozpin?"

The Headmaster smiled. "Tell me, James. How do you feel about taking in some of my students?"

Location: Atlas Airship, Indomitable Will – General's Quarters

"Tell me, James. How do you feel about taking in some of my stude-?" Polendinius shut off the vox feed before turning towards the other occupants of the room. "And that's where we will be heading next as the Headmaster of Beacon and his retinue informed us."

The room Polendina was currently in was the General Gainboros's own private quarters, complete with a standard terminal desk and chairs. Other than that the room was very spartan in terms of necessities, white metal walls that bore none of the unneeded decorations and military liveries that are often seen in other officer quarters.

The only decoration worth noting was the large double-headed eagle painted gold right on the wall behind the General's desk. To any denizen of this world, the decoration was just that, a fancy decoration.

However, for the current occupants of the room, it was the Aquila. The holy symbol of the Imperium of Man.

The General in question is currently sitting behind his desk with a stern expression. Standing just off to the side is Polendinius himself, showing a holo-pict map of Anima on the General's desk.

Taking up nearly a good third of the room is Julius Arch. Standing ever resolutely on his spot in front of the General's desk, his psychic hood just a foot away from touching the roof of the room.

Luckily for the Astartes, Polendinius foresaw the need for more room for a Space Marine of his size, thus the General's ship, as well as many others, have spacious hallways and doorways that can fit a substantially sized Space Marine.

At the present moment, however, Polendinius just finished showing a vox cast directly from Ozpin's own desk cogitator, something the Headmaster nor his followers were aware of.

"So these Relics are powerful weapons that he has hidden in each of the four Huntsmen Academies. But why hide them and not use them against the dreaded enemy?" The General said, reviewing the information given to them by Ozpin.

"Ozpin obviously fears the power of the Relics and seeks to deny us from them, the enemy is also seeking these same Relics for their own foul purposes. It is imperative that we must obtain the Relics first." The Champion said, his tone ever firm.

General Gainsboros frowned. "Indeed. Ozpin will be sending Huntsmen and Huntresses to track our movements under the pretense of academy education. Fortunately, thanks to the efforts of Polendinius, we now know where they will be going and when to expect them." Gainsboros said.

"Ozpin's efforts to spy on us is a secondary concern. Our primary concern is obtaining the Relics and using them against Salem as well as denying their power from her." Polendinius reminded.

The general nodded. "Polendinius is right. Access to these Relics is only achievable by a specific Maiden for each. One of which is located in the continent of Anima with a bandit tribe, another in the hands of Ironwood, and the other two are out of reach for the time being." Gainsboros explained in a serious tone.

Polendinius hummed in agreement. "Finding and gaining access to the Maidens are of little concern. All we need from them is their power to grant us access to these Relics. If they are not willing to do so, then I have other ways of convincing them." Polendinius explained, formulating and filing away contingency plans if the situation calls for it.

Julius then grasped the handle of his sword but made no move to draw it. "Then our path is clear." Julius said in a firm tone.

Polendinius nodded. "Julius is correct. The path of least resistance is through Mistral. We shall find the Spring Maiden, recruit them to our cause and make our way to Haven Academy and obtain the Relic of Knowledge." Polendinius explained.

The General nodded in agreement. "Well said, I will contact both the Atlas Council as well as the Mistral Council if I am to move my forces to Mistral." The General then pointed to a northern coastal area of Anima, highlighting a settlement. "We will move and establish our base of operations in the port city of Argus, the largest Atlas owned military base outside of Atlas itself. Fortunately, Polendinius's reputation and influence can hasten the process necessary to conduct our most holy mission in the Mistral territories." The General explained with conviction.

Julius's visors glared at the General. "Then see to it that it is done. Polendinius, do have further information on this Relic we are to retrieve from the Huntsmen Schola in Mistral." Julius questioned.

Polendinius frowned in thought. "I do not. There are no records to ascertain the abilities this Relic or any of the others hold. The only one with any inkling as to what the Relics can possibly achieve would be Ozpin himself. But if I were to theorize, the Relic names may hint as to what they are capable of." Polendinius explained, giving his best estimations.

The Archmagos did truly scour the databases of Beacon as well as Ozpin's personal cogitator to find more information about the Relics. However, all he found were the locations of the Relics, their names and nothing else notable. Ozpin is truly keeping these Relics as an on-hand secret.

"I see… we shall interrogate Ozpin for the information when we have collected all the Relics." Julius then paused. Taking a moment to address both Polendinius and Gainsboros. "But we must not stray from the mission given to us by the God-Emperor. In the end, Salem dies. With or without the Relics." Julius stated, his voice firm leaving no room for argument.

The General schooled his features before giving a firm nod. "Of course Champion. I have served the Emperor faithfully in my previous life as Lord Commissar of the Cadian 88th Infantry Regiment. And I will continue to do so now." Gainboros said as he stood from his seat and raised his head high with firm conviction. "Even after death, I still serve. The Emperor has brought us here to this planet with a purpose to see the enemy banished back to whatever hellish realm they crawled out from. And I and my men shall not rest until I draw my last breath."

Polendinius himself can't help but smile. His vision is now coming to fruition. "The Omnissiah has brought us together for this singular purpose. I, Archmagos Polendinius of the 12th Explorator Fleet, have prepared all my second life for this moment. We shall have the manpower, the weapons, and information necessary to obtain victory and bring about the Emperor's work onto this world." Polendinius added.

Finally, Julius, Champion of his Chapter, drew his sword and rested the tip onto the ground. "Then it is the sworn duty of I, Julius Arch, Brotherhood Champion of the 1st Brotherhood of the Grey Knights, to see this through to the very end." Julius's blade then glowed white with power as the gothic inscriptions on his blade shined. "May our enemies tremble before His might, for they shall find Him wanting. May they find oblivion before His wrath, for He shall show no mercy. And may they be banished before His light, for we shall deliver His judgment in His name."

"For the Emperor!"

"For the Omnissiah!"

"For the God-Emperor! And for Mankind!"

Location: Anima, Shion Village

"Daddy! What's going on!?"

"Honey I need you to stay in the house okay! No matter what happens do not leave and hide!" Nau desperately urged before closing the door to his home. He had no time to waste.

BANG! BANG! BANG! "TAKE EVERYTHING OF VALUE! LEAVE NOTHING BEHIND!"

"WASTE THAT GUY!"

Nau cursed as he ducked behind another house. Soon his position was soon riddled with bullets, giving him no opening to fire back with his own rifle.

It was just a normal day in Shion, families coming from far and wide to experience their camping grounds and the families that do live in the village were going about their days.

But that all changed when the bandits suddenly attacked. They came out of seemingly nowhere. A red portal was all the warning the families of Shion got before they started their raid.

So many of them poured from the portal. Normally Huntsmen like Nau himself would've been fine with the common bandit rabble. But amongst their numbers is a skilled individual, the woman with the Grimm mask.

She alone cut down three Huntsmen protecting this village in what seems to be a blink of an eye before leading the raid throughout the village.

Nau himself was not prepared for this attack; he was on his day off with his daughter at a food stand when the attack started. He quickly rushed his daughter home, donned his armor, grabbed his rifle, and headed back to face the bandits pillaging his home.

Now he is pinned. He could hear bullets whizzing past his cover.

Soon the bullets stopped.

"CRAP! JAMMED MY FU-!"

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

Nau's rifle barrel smoked as four bodies dropped to the ground. Three are groaning in pain while the last one was lying still.

Nau immediately rushed deeper into the village, shooting and incapacitating three more bandits that he saw, taking a few hits along the way but his Aura held.

The entire village was in chaos. Bandits were breaking into homes and leaving off with stolen goods, innocent people were being dragged out into the streets, and those that fought back were mercilessly gunned or cut down.

"GET OFF MY WIFE YOU-"

BANG!

"HAROLD!" A shrill cry caught Nau's ear.

Immediately Nau turned a corner and saw what has occurred. A bandit, a smug-looking bastard holding a smoking revolver, stood over the body of Harold, an old family friend, and his daughter's first babysitter.

Nau gritted his teeth and screamed in rage as he brought up his rifle, sights immediately trained on the bastard's smug smile.

SHING! "GAH!"

Nau immediately dropped his now ruined rifle, cut in two by a red blur he did not see coming. He was then immediately flung back by a single attack, his back skidding across the cobblestone road before coming to a full stop.

When he finally got a good look at his assailant he paled. It was the Grimm masked woman, blood-red blade held to the side at the ready.

The smug man behind her no longer held his smug smile. Instead, he looked afraid.

"B-Boss! T-Thanks for the save!"

The woman scoffed, seemingly directed at Nau himself, before sheathing her blade and turning towards the smug man. "I will kill you myself next time if you waste any more time with these weak rabble." The woman said without a shred of mercy.

The smug man visibly sweated. "S-sure thing boss! Won't happen next time!"

Nau schooled his features and gathered his courage before swiftly getting up and charged the woman with the knife he pulled out from his waist.

What happened next was a blur. The knife that was going to dig into the woman's back was then brutally swatted out of his hands and a red blur slashed him onto the ground.

Nau grunted as his aura flared before disappearing completely, signalling his aura is now gone. Before he could pick himself up, something slammed into his head and held him against the ground.

Nau tried to resist, but a blood-red blade was placed against his neck, the cold blade pressed enough to nearly draw blood.

"Stay down or die." The woman above him threatened.

From his position on the ground, Nau could see more bandits converging onto their position. Many wielding ramshackle guns or chipped machetes some covered in blood.

But what caught Nau's attention the most were the surviving inhabitants of Shion, those who could not escape in time or weren't found were being rounded up by the bandits at gunpoint and gathered right in the literal middle of Shion.

Nau immediately searched for his daughter amongst the gathered crowd with what little he could see. His heart beating in his ears as he could not find his daughter anywhere.

Did they not find her? Did she escape? Or did they…

"Boss! We gathered all the villagers in the square and gathered up all the valuables we can carry." An unseen bandit said, the woman still holding him down on the ground with her foot and blade to his neck.

Suddenly, Nau felt the blade leave from his neck and the pressure lifted from his head. "Good. Pick this one up and throw him with the rest. And be quick about it, the Grimm will be here at any moment." The woman ordered.

Immediately, Nau felt himself being roughly picked up by the arms and then dragged towards the small crowd of the inhabitants of Shion. He then saw the back of the woman, seemingly observing all she and her bandits had done to their village.

At this moment his rage took overall common sense. "YOU MONSTER! WHY ARE YOU DOING THIS!"

Something bashed the side of his head, dazing him. "You watch your mouth when addressing our leader!" Yelled an unnamed bandit, most likely the one who hit him.

Nau spat out a glob of blood. "Your boss is nothing but scum! Attacking innocent-"

Wham! "I said SHUT UP! Or else I will-"

"Shady! Bring him here."

"Y-Yes boss! Right away!"

Nau was then dragged forward towards the masked woman.

Soon they were face to face, Nau being held upright by two bandits restraining his arms. He glared into the red eyes he could see behind the Bandit Leader's mask, not giving her the satisfaction of showing fear.

The woman then reached up and pulled off her mask, revealing a pale white face with blood-red eyes and an expression filled with contempt.

Nau spat in her face, immediately receiving a punch to the gut for his troubles. For her part the woman did not react, simply wiping away the bloody spit on her face. "You hate me." The woman before him stated as a matter of fact.

Nau caught his breath before glaring back towards the bandit leader. "What gave that away you bitc-" Another punch cut Nau off.

The woman simply quirked a single eyebrow. "I see now that you harbor hate towards me. But know that I do not feel the same towards you or any of the other inhabitants of this village. You and all these villagers are just too weak for me to even care." The woman explained as if it was a fact of life.

Nau bristled. "If we're weak, then what does that make you for attacking us without provocation." Nau spat out, more out of anger than anything.

The woman scoffed. "Isn't it obvious. I and my tribe are strong. And we take what we want from weak villages such as yours. Afterall…"

In a blink of an eye, the woman drew her blade and pressed it deeply into Nau's neck. "The weak die, and the strong live. Those are the rules."

Nau's heart was beating a mile per minute, but he stared defiantly at the bandit leader, not giving her the satisfaction.

"YOU LEAVE MY DADDY ALONE!"

Nau's heart plummeted as from the corner of his eye he saw a little teal haired girl charging and screaming towards the bandit leader with his previously lost knife in her hands.

The other bandits in the area trained their weapons on his daughter. "NO! TEAL! STOP!"

But it was too late to do anything. His daughter reached the woman and swung his knife.

The woman simply backhanded the knife out of Teal's hands with her free hand before giving his daughter a rough kick to the chest.

Teal fell back, tear streaming from her eyes, but not giving up stood once more and charged, fists raised.

The woman blocked the fist and then kicked Teal's feet from under her. Teal fell, but again stood and charged once more.

However, the smug man from before came up and grabbed Teal's hair, pulling it back roughly making Teal scream in pain.

"YOU BASTARD! LET HER GO!" Nau screamed in rage. Teal was batting at the man's hands, trying to get out of his grasp.

"Sorry about that boss! I'll get this brat out of your hair and- YOUCH!" The smug man screamed as the hand not holding his daughter drew too close to Teal's mouth, something she took advantage of and bit down on the man's hand, forcing the man to let go.

Teal then ran once more towards the woman, screaming in rage.

The woman scoffed and lifted her blade off his neck.

Adrenaline rushed through Nau's vein, panicking at what the woman is going to do next if he didn't do something. He immediately head-butted the bandit holding his right arm free, and punching the bandit holding his left before rushing towards the woman in front of him.

He immediately went for a tackle, to save his daughter, to distract the woman from killing his daughter.

He suddenly stopped in his tracks as pain flared from his gut. Nau looked down to see the woman's blade stabbed deep into his stomach, blood already staining his clothes surrounding the blade.

"DADDY!"

Nau drew his hands towards the blade, gritting his teeth to try and numb out the pain. But the woman wretched the blade out of his gut as he immediately collapsed onto the ground.

"DADDY!"

Nau felt something collide with his side as felt small hands shaking him. "DADDY! GET UP DADDY!"

Through gritting teeth and through the pain, Nau opened his eyes to see the crying face of his daughter, Teal. He quickly felt his wound and grimaced. He was slowly losing blood.

"T-Teal. Runaway. Get out of here."

"NO! I WON'T LEAVE YOU!"

When Nau looked back towards his daughter he also saw the woman that has done this to him, her face still held contempt towards him. "Hmm. How pathetic." The woman said before donning her mask and walked away.

"What are you all standing around for! Gather the supplies and prepare to transport them! And Shady!"

"Y-Yes boss?"

"Clean up this mess."

After hearing those words, Nau tried desperately to get up with his free hand, but it was agonizingly slow and painful.

"Well you heard the boss. This is what you get for sticking your neck out. Now stay still and this will be over quick." The smug bastard said as he pointed his revolver directly at Nau's head.

"I-I won't let you hurt daddy! You big poop head!" Teal yelled, standing right in front of the bastard's firing line with arms stretched out.

Teal has always been his brave little girl. A trait she always shared with her mother.

But now, like her mother, she was risking her life to try and save him.

"Brat get out of the way or I'll put one between your eyes!" the bastard threatened, his patience running thin.

Gary's daughter did not move, but Nau could hear her sniffling and hyperventilating.

She was afraid. Yet she refused to back down. Her mother would be so proud.

Nau gritted his teeth. The bastard was too far for him to charge him. There was only one thing he could do and only one chance to save his daughter.

'Please. Don't let this fail.' He pleaded to anyone listening to his prayers.

"Tch! Fine then!" Click!

Nau, hearing the unmistakable cocking of the bastard's gun, immediately dove and grabbed his daughter into a hug, protecting her with his body.

Nau then shut his eyes. Hugging his daughter close for the last time.

B-THOOM!

"What the-"

That's all Nau heard before an ear-deafening sound of thunder shattered all noise in the air. A strong force accompanying the sound launched Nau and his daughter into the ground. Still deafened by the sound, Nau sat up and turned his head dazedly to see what happened behind him.

What he saw made his eyes widened.

Standing where the smug bastard used to be was something that can only be described as an armored green giant.

Using the nearby Bandits as reference the Giant towered over everyone, thick bulky armor covered it from head to toe, making it look like some sort of green mech then anything else. It has massive black pauldrons, the left is adorned what appears to be an equally massive golden skull badge, the right pauldron has of what appears to be an insignia of a dragon's head painted white on it.

Both pauldrons looked large enough to carry a man while the rest of its bulky armor was painted dark green, overall giving it a stunted but indomitable appearance completed with what looks to be a golden half-halo attached on top of its bulky armor that covered it's back/head. Its head was very hard to describe, having an elongated blocky snout where the mouth is supposed to be but in no way made him less intimidating, something that was only reinforced by the glowing red eyes-like visors it had.

But what drew Nau's attention was the weapon it wields. In its right hand was a massive war hammer, the hammerhead being the size of a man's torso and the shaft seemingly made to be wielded one-handed, something the Green Giant is currently doing. On its left hand, however, is a MASSIVE tower shield shaped vaguely into a cross. Adorned on the shield itself is the same dragon head Nau saw on the Giant's pauldron, but this time it was colored golden as the shield is the same dark green color as the rest of its armor.

Both hammer and shield looked far too massive to be used effectively by any Huntsmen, much less be carried by any Huntsmen.

Yet this Green Giant is holding both as well as any huntsmen with their own weapon. And now that he noticed, Nau could smell a powerful stench of ozone that invaded his nostrils.

Nau then noticed the sheer amount of blood that covered the area in front of the Green Giant. There was so much blood that Nau instinctively covered his daughter's eyes. It was only seeing the charred remains of a revolver did Nau had any inkling as to who's blood it belonged to.

Suddenly, the Green Giant set his glowing red eyes onto Nau's. He instinctively held Teal closer to his chest, prepared to protect her if he had to.

"Who are you?" The unmistakable voice of the bandit leader shouted out, breaking the tense silence and bringing everyone's attention towards the Giant.

The Green Giant, in three thunderous steps, turned to meet the unseen Bandit leader. It was at this point that Nau noticed the Giant's cape, the cape looked like it was made from a massive scaly ash green lizard as it draped across it's back and the hem nearly touching the very ground behind it.

"It does not matter to you who I am. Know that I am here to bring an end to this bloodshed."

It took a few seconds for Nau to realise the Green Giant spoke. Its voice was clearly male with a deep and powerful voice.

"It's clear you're not from around here, are you. If you were then you would know that facing me and my tribe alone would mean your end. Why throw away your life for these weaklings that you have no connection to?" The woman asked, more out of curiosity than actual mocking.

The Green Giant tightened his grip on his hammer as the bandits surrounding him readied their weapons. "Because the worst action to take… is taking no action at all." The head of the Giant's hammer is then suddenly engulfed in flame, the heat of which was so intense that Nau could feel it from where he sat. "And I will not stand idly by while the blood of the innocent has been spilled."

The flaming hammer shocked those surrounding the Green Giant. Nau also noticed the surrounding bandits, especially those wielding blades and knives, suddenly became hesitant and nervous.

However, the bandit leader herself showed no emotions, just indifference to the Giant's answer.

She scoffed before placing her right hand on the handle of her blade. "Fool. Then you shall die."

Suddenly the masked woman shot forwards at incredible speed, a red blur of her blade is all that can be seen as it aimed straight towards Giant's face. She was too fast; Nau could only watch helplessly.

B-THOM! "AAAARGH!"

"BOSS!"

Nau's eyes widened in shock. The woman was launched backward through the air and skidded across the ground to a stop. Her helmet was thrown off and is now holding the handle of her now shattered sword. The only indication of what has caused the bandit leader to fly back was the Green Giant, his shield raised, wreathed in an unseen force.

Nau couldn't believe what he just saw. The Green Giant must've blocked and launched the woman back with a brutal parry. The bandit leader was inhumanly fast, but Nau himself couldn't even see what the Green Giant just did.

The woman struggled to stand, holding her right arm as Nau noticed the scorched sleeves and numerous burned marks that now decorated her arm. She then sheathed her sword handle before immediately unsheathing a brand new blade, this time it was yellow.

The bandit leader's face was now a mixture of furious anger fueled by pain. She was clearly agitated, no doubt not used to being beaten back so easily.

"You call these innocents you have pillaged from weak. But I saw more strength and courage in the child behind me then any of your rabble are capable of."

Nau listened to the Giant speak about his daughter, eyes widened in surprise. "A child who was willing to lay down her life to defend her father from you and the rest of your misbegotten followers you call a tribe."

The Green Giant then raised his shield in front of him and reaffirmed his grip on his hammer. "A child that I shall give my life to defend! So that she may grow stronger and one day takes up the mantle as a defender of the Innocent!"

As if fueled by his words, the flaming hammer grew more intense, the head now glowing white-hot with heat. "You! who prey on the weak! The helpless! And the innocent! I shall show you just how weak you all are!"

Immediately the surrounding bandits trained their weapons on the Green Giant, but with nervous energy, no doubt fearful after what they saw happen to their leader. The bandit leader herself glared hatefully at the Giant, however, her glare was damped somewhat by her injured state.

"GROOOAAAAR!"

"GRIMM!"

Nau immediately turned and paled as a Beowolf pounced on one of the bandits and killed him with a single swipe of its claws, spraying blood through the air. Soon dozens of Grimm started pouring in from all sides, attacking bandits and some charging straight towards the gathered and panicking survivors of Shion.

"EVERYONE! WE ARE LEAVING! NOW!" Shouted the injured bandit leader as she lifted her sword and slashed the air, creating a red swirling portal before hobbling through.

Soon the bandits ran towards the portal, those fighting Grimm soon turned tail and ran through the portal. Many others weren't so lucky as they were immediately set upon by the Grimm when their backs turned.

Soon the portal disappeared out of existence. The few bandits that did not make it in time were immediately set upon by the invading Grimm.

Good riddance to them.

Suddenly Teal screamed as Nau saw a Boarbatusk charging straight towards them. With no chance to dodge, Nau held his daughter tightly, using his body to shield her.

BZZZT!

"SQUUEEE-"

BOOOM!

Another deafening sound of thunder shattered throughout the air as Nau once more opened his eyes. What he saw was the Green Giant standing before him, massive shield raised and flaming hammer stretched out to the side.

Once again, the Giant save his and his daughter's life.

"-ou stand?"

Nau shook his head, trying to shake the deafness out of his ears. "WHAT!?"

"Can you stand!?" The Green Giant questioned, focusing solely on what is happening around him.

"Yes! I think I can!" Nau answered as he went to stand, his daughter trying to help, and soon stood shakily onto his legs while holding his gut with one hand and held his daughter close to his side with the other.

B-THOM!

A Beowolf leaped at the Green Giant, only to be completely obliterated, bashed by the Giant's shield in a shower of black ash and lightning.

"Make your way to a safe location. If you can, gather as many survivors and bring them with you." The Green Giant ordered.

"What about you!" Teal shouted, clearly fearing for their saviour's life.

The Giant answered by raising his shield and flaming hammer. "I shall stay and draw the attention of the Grimm." The Giant said with conviction.

Before either Nau or his daughter could speak, the Green Giant suddenly disappeared in a flash of bright light and reappeared in a flash some distance away before immediately bringing down his flaming hammer, obliterating a Creep into burning ashes and blowing back an entire group of Grimm.

Nau soon shook the moment of shock from his head before grabbing his daughter by the hand. "Teal! Come on! We must get out of here!" Nau said, not waiting for a reply before making his way towards the one place he knew may be safe.

There are contingencies the village inhabitants put in place if Shion is ever under threat of Grimm. One of which is to gather as many of the village inhabitants and evacuate them towards the town hall. The town hall is a large building in the middle of town, it has a large basement that acts as a bunker against the Grimm, enough space to fit everyone and should have enough provision for four days.

Fortunately for Nau and his daughter, he could see the town hall just up ahead and from the looks of it some of the survivors managed to barricade the front entrance and were defending themselves with weapons discarded by the bandits and helping anyone into the building itself.

Unfortunately, Nau must still pass through both panicking survivors trying to get to the building as well as the invading Grimm still pouring into the town.

Nau could still hear the deafening hits from the Giant's hammer, drowning out the panicking screams and the roars of Grimm for just a moment each time. It was the only solace he had that he, his daughter, and anyone in Shion may survive and make it through to see the next day.

Nau didn't know whether it was good fortune or not, but he and his daughter managed to make it to the barricaded entrance of the town hall. Immediately Nau, ignoring the wound in his gut, lifted Teal over the barrier as someone from the other side grabbed her and dragged her in.

He himself steadily and as quickly as he could climbed over the mess of a barricade, soon feeling two pairs of hands dragging him in as he collapsed into the building floor with a pained grunt.

"Nau! Are you alright?"

Nau immediately opened his eyes and is met with a sight for sore eyes. "I'm fine Violet. Just stabbed in the gut by the bandit's bitch of a leader." Nau explained to his long time friend, grimacing in pain.

Violet was a large heavy set lady. She usually runs the sole bakery of Shion alongside her husband, the previously deceased Harold.

Violet nodded. "Yes I saw Nau. Everyone here did. We watched what that monster did to you and Teal. Thank the gods that the Huntsman came when he did."

Nau nodded, not bothering to start a new conversation. "Violet. Go back and help whomever you can over the barrier. I'm taking Teal down to the basement and patching myself up. Once that's done, I'll join in the defence." Nau said through the pain.

Violet nodded as she soon left his vision. Nau immediately took a deep breath before lifting himself up from the wooden floor with a pained grunt. He soon came face to face with his daughter, tear staining her face. "Daddy are you okay?" Teal asked worryingly.

Nau nodded. "Yes honey. I'll soon be okay. Help daddy to stand okay sweetie?"

Teal nodded, and with her assistance, Nau stood once again and soon both him and his daughter made their way towards the basement.

Once they reached the basement entrance, a solid steel door left opened, both Nau and his daughter soon descended the stone steps and into a spacious room.

Nau's heart fell at what he saw. So few survivors, half of them injured and the other half trying their very best to help or comfort those who lost so much.

"Hey look! Nau's here!" Someone in the room shouted.

Immediately the occupants in the rooms, those who can, drew their attention towards him. Some faces held relief, while many others held worry and grief.

"Nau have you seen Bessy!?"

"Nau! Where's my son!?"

"Nau please save my wife! She's still out there!"

"Nau!-"

"ENOUGH!" A single voice boomed, silencing the masses.

It was none other then the town head, Lan Sei. A middle age man who has experienced much in his life, always calm and in control.

"Can't you people see that Nau is injured! Give the man and his daughter some space!" Lan ordered rather harshly.

The people surrounding Nau still held their worried looks but decided to back off and return to whatever they were doing before.

"Thank you, Lan." Nau said, grateful for the man's assistance.

The man shook his head. "No thanks necessary. Here." Lan handed Nau a single roll of bandages as well as a sewing kit. "Sit down and patch your self up. I don't want you bleeding all over the place now." Lan said, eyes gesturing towards Nau's right hand holding his gut wound, now slick with blood, his blood.

Teal gasped at the amount of blood, but Nau simply nodded at Lan before leading Teal to an empty space on the wall.

As he slid down the wall, he unclasped his armor the best he could with Teal's help before lifting his shirt to inspect the wound.

As expected, it looked bad, if teal looking away was any indication. "Teal, I need you do daddy a favor and go help Mr. Sei. Can you do that for me?" Nau asked.

Teal took one last look at his wound before meeting his eyes. "But daddy…"

"No buts honey. Go see if Mr. Sei has anything for you to do." Nau said in a firm tone, leaving no room for an argument.

After a bit of hesitation, Teal stood and went to the other side of the room where Lan is. Once she was away, Nau did the gruesome work of stitching his wound. Thank god for those advanced first aid lessons in Haven, something he now is praising himself for learning.

Soon the stitching was done and now he was wrapping the bandages around his stomach, making sure they were nice and tight.

As soon as he was finished however, the sounds of the basement's doors closing and locking echoed around the room as two survivors with bandit rifles, two injured women carried by Violet herself came down the stairs.

"Fio! What's going on! Why did you lock the basement!?" Lan immediately confronted one of the men.

The young man, possibly no older then 20, Fio stuttered. "S-Sir! The Huntsman told us to retreat back into basement. Grimm are pouring in by the dozens!"

What Fio said elicited panic amongst the survivors, but it was soon quelled by Lan himself. "Quiet everyone! Panicking will not help us now!" Lan then turned back to Fio. "How's the Huntsman doing?" Lan asked.

Fio took a deep breath to calm his nerves. "Sir… it's unlike anything I've ever seen. He's literally wadding through the Grimm like they are nothing. Every swing of his hammer obliterates the Grimm by the dozen! It's like the stories!" Fio said, his tone betraying his excitement.

Even now, through the basement's thick concrete walls, Nau could still hear the thunderous strikes of the Green Giant's flaming hammer and the bestial roars of the Grimm. He will never forget the sound, the same sound that saved his life and the life of his daughter's many times today.

Lan nodded his head. "Good. Good. This is good news. Any other survivors?" Lan asked, worry hinted in his tone.

Unfortunately, the young man's face fell. "The Huntsman brought those two women and told us to retreat to safety. I asked if there were anymore survivors, but he simply returned to fight the Grimm without saying a word." Fio said in a somber tone.

Nau knew what that meant. Everyone who is currently in the basement are the last remaining survivors of Shion. There is no one else.

The others were quick to come to the same conclusion as many burst down crying while some screamed out in rage, cursing the bandits for what they did.

Nau himself simply sat there; slowly closing his eyes as exhaustion took him.

All he could hear is the thunderous sounds of the Giant's hammer. Each one pulling him deeper into unconsciousness.

"…addy."

Nau grunted, turning his head.

"Daddy!"

With a sharp intake of air, Nau's eyes shot wide open as he immediately sat up away from the wall. His eyes went to his daughter before noticing every occupant in the room is now staring at him.

"Nau you're finally awake."

Nau looked to Lan, a worried expression marred the man's face. "What happened? How long was I out?" Nau quickly asked, fully alert albeit still tired.

Lan soon replied. "You have been asleep for four hours."

Nau sighed. "Four hours. Then why wake me? What happened Lan?" Nau asked, already expecting the worst.

Lan looked towards the stairs. "That's the thing. The noises outside has stopped." Lan explained in a worried tone.

It was at this point the Nau noticed that he couldn't hear the familiar sound of thunder nor the pained roars of the Grimm from outside the basement. It was quiet out there, something that brought more worry then actual relief to Nau.

"The Giant! Did he-" Nau went to ask but was soon cut off by Lan. "No. He did not come or even knocked on the door. We assumed the worst and wanted to check, but none of here are fighters. So we want to ask-"

This time Nau cut him off. "I'll do it. Just give me a sec."

Nau closed his eyes and focused. Soon he was awarded with a sudden rush of energy, the soreness in his muscles disappeared, however, the pain in his stomach persisted but dulled in a sense.

His aura is back, but not all of it. If he were to guess, he is currently running on around a third of his usual reserves. Just enough for him to scout out what happened and retreat safely if needed.

Nau opened his eyes and stood up onto his feet. He then looked down towards his daughter, who was giving a worried look. "I'll be alright honey. You stay here where it is safe, okay?" Nau said with a reassuring smile. Teal nodded and stepped away, Nau himself patted his daughter's head before making his way towards the stairs, being guarded by the same two men, Fio and the other Nau did not know.

Nau went up to the young man. "I need your rifle."

The young man nodded and presented him with said weapon. "It'll be better in your hands then mine. Just be careful out there." Fio said. Gray nodded as he took the rifle, a bandit's rifle.

Nau frowned as he saw the sorry state the rifle was in. It was clearly not taken care off, rusted parts, a battered wooden stock and grip, a loose lever handle, and a dull chipped knife taped to the gun as a bayonet.

How many people did this thing killed?

"Sir… are you alright?"

Nau sighed as he ejected the magazine and checked the ammo count, four bullets. "Yes I'm fine. Prepare to open the door and close it behind me. I'll return soon."

Both Fio and the other man nodded before Nau ascended the stairs up to the metal door. After unlocking it's numerous deadlocks, the door slowly opened and Nau quickly slipped out, checked his flanks before proceeding through the building.

The entire interior of the building is a mess. The barricade was smashed at the entrance was smashed open, as if something barreled through it and started a brawl inside.

Moving through the now open entrance, rifle at the ready, Nau received his first glimpse of Shion.

His expression fell. Everywhere he looked all he could see is destruction. Not one building in sight was spared, some were damaged, demolished, on fire, smoldering or any combination of the four.

He stared back at the town hall; the roof was clearly damaged but held. The front entrance smashed wide open and even a large portion of the stone wall was smashed open.

But all this paled in comparison to the bodies that were sewn all across the clearing before him. Some he recognized as the bodies of bandits, while others were the inhabitants of Shion, either killed by the bandits or did not escape the Grimm.

Nau took a deep breath to calm his nerves and moved towards a body of a bandit, one of the cleaner ones in terms of attached limbs and organs.

Nau searched the body, fortunately he found a full magazine of ammo and after checking the exact caliber he needed.

Swapping out the magazines for the new one, Nau returned to his mission. Finding the Green Giant.

Luckily for him, the Giant came around the corner from behind, Nau hearing his heavy steps before seeing him.

"You have survived." The Green Giant spoke. Nau could tell it wasn't out of surprise but held firm confidence, as if the Giant knew Nau could survive.

Nau let out a sigh of relief as he turned towards the Green Giant. "Oh thank god! You're alright!" Nau exclaimed in relief.

The Green Giant looked alright, much less tired. Other then sporting what seems to be new claw marks all over its armor, there was no notable injuries or much less damage.

The Giant was fighting for over four hours and seems to be fine, wielding devastating weapons and armor that Nau has never seen before.

Just who is this Huntsman?

Soon the Giant stood before him, showing just how massive he is compared to Nau himself,. Nau just reached up to it's chest and coming face to face with the golden skull with wings embossed across it's chest armor.

"You doubt I would've survived?" the Giant questioned, the glowing red eyes of it's helm staring right into Nau's very soul.

Immediately Nau lowered his rifle and waved his free hand. "N-No! Please, understand that when everything went silent, all of us in the bunker assumed the worst. So I volunteered to check if it you were safe." Nau explained as quickly as he can.

The Giant nodded. "I understand. Forgive me for not coming to retrieve all of you sooner. I had to make sure the last of the Grimm were slain." The Giant humbly explained.

What the Giant said made Nau's eyes widened. "You killed all the Grimm? By yourself?"

The Giant gave a curt nod. "All 132 of them. You and the others should be safe for the time being." The Giant said.

132 Grimm. A number that no Huntsman could possibly face alone and live to tell.

No Huntsman except the vey one standing in front of him. Just who is this Huntsman?

Time to find out.

"T-That's great news! Please! Tell me your name! So everyone who has survived will know who to thank!" Nau asked almost desperately.

The Giant looked down towards him. "Very well. I am-"

Suddenly the Giant snapped his gaze towards something behind Nau and immediately raised bothhammer and shield. "Ready yourself. An enemy approaches." The Green Giant warned in a low tone.

Quickly Nau turned and raised his rifle but saw nothing in front of him. "W-Where are they?" Nau asked in a worried tone.

Nau heard the heavy steps of the Giant beside him before seeing the Giant positioning himself in a more forward position, shield forward and hammer at the ready.

Before Nau could question the Giant any further, he heard it. A series of sounds echoed through the air, it sounded like… the clopping of hooves?

The sounds grew louder, emanating somewhere in front of him.

Then he saw it.

"What. Is. That."

It was a Grimm, but nothing like he ever saw. It was massive horse-like Grimm, easily towering over even the Giant from what Nau could compare. It looked like two Grimm in one, the main body looking like a horrific horse Grimm, its forelegs ended with claws while the back legs ended in large hooves. It also has what appears to be a an even more horrifying looking creature attached on top of it, all Nau could make of it were the long and lanky arms each ending in a large two fingered hands dangling on the sides and dragging across the ground as it slowly approached.

Soon the massive Grimm stopped just a few of meters away, just close enough to see its hideous features and the black smoke exhaling out of the horse Grimm's mouth.

Soon the arms twitched as with a series of sickening snapping of bones and more sporadic twitching, the second creature showed itself on top of the horse Grimm.

Nau's eyes widened in horror. The creature attached to the horse is terrifying, like it came from the very depths of humanity's nightmares.

"SSSHHHRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAEEEEEEIIIIIII!"

Nau instinctively covered his ears at the inhuman scream the Grimm let out from it's sewn maw, stretched out as far as it can to deliver such a horrifying scream.

Nau found himself shaking and breathing sporadically. He was so afraid. How can he face such a creature! He needs to-

"Stand firm Huntsman. Remember who you fight for." The Giant spoke, breaking through Nau's fear.

Who he fights for? Teal. He fights to keep his daughter safe.

If this thing reaches Teal. To everyone in the basement...

Nau shook his head. He would rather die then let that happen.

Steeling his resolve, Nau aimed his rifle towards the Grimm, aiming right at it's twitching head. "Thank you! For reminding me!" Nau said.

The Giant did not respond. His sole attention was on the Grimm.

"Retreat back to the building and defend the entrance. I shall deal with this Grimm myself." The Giant ordered.

Nau's eyes widened. "I can't leave you to face this thing! If we work toge-"

"NO! This creature is mine to slay." The Green Giant said in a low but furious tone.

Nau did not argue. For the little time he has known the Green Giant, the Giant showed only courage and firm resilience in the face of overwhelming odds.

But now, against this single Grimm, the Giant showed Nau his first negative emotion.

Anger, fury, and hate. All directed at this large Grimm.

The Giant seek revenge against the Grimm, but for what exactly?

Not wanting to ask, Nau simply turned and ran for the still open entrance of the town hall.

"SSHHHHRRAAAAAEEEIIII!"

Nau turned just in time to see one of the lanky arms of the Grimm shooting towards him, stretching to impossible lengths just to reach him.

However, before the claws could reach him, the Giant sidestepped into its trajectory and slammed his shield into the claw, obliterating it in a shower of electricity and deflecting the now handless appendage back to it's owner.

"SHRAAAAAAAEEEEEII!" The creature shrill cry of pain pierced through the air as it's upper body flailed around in pain.

"For the lives you have taken…" Nau heard as he reached the entrance of the town hall, turning only to see what happens next.

The Grimm screamed out a ghastly roar as it swung it's left and uninjured hand in a wide horizontal arc. The appendage stretched out at it's apex, smashing through a smoldering house completely collapsing it, and towards the Green Giant's right flank.

There was no need for Nau to shout out a warning, the Giant is already bringing his massive shield around smashed the edge into the swinging hand.

B-THOM! "SHRAAAAAAAEEEEEEIII"

Like an elastic, the now handless appendage snapped back to the screaming Grimm, flailing both handless arms in the air as the stumps continued to smoke.

"For the home, you have destroyed…" the Giant said, loud enough for Nau to hear.

The Grimm suddenly brought its hideous face forward, head twitching as the two curved horn on it's suddenly grew even longer while bone spine like protrusions sprouted even further from his back, giving it a more intimidating appearance.

It then let loose a howling shriek as it's attached mount brayed and charged straight towards the Green Giant. The Giant in return brought his tower shield in front of him and locked his massive legs in place in a wide and firm stance.

Nau watched as the Grimm closed the distance, but he did not despair. He did not see a fearsome Grimm about to trample it's next helpless victim.

No, what Nau sees is a Grimm's last desperate attempt to break down an unbreakable wall, a wall that has saved the survivors of Shion and kept then safe from the dangers sent to break it.

That is the Green Giant. An wall of unbreakable courage and indomitable will of strength.

Nau then noticed a bright orange light coming from the Green Giant, a light emanating from his very shield.

And along with the light, came a heat so intense that Nau started to profusely sweat.

"Into the fires of battle! Unto the anvil of war!" The Giant's shield glowed even hotter as if fueled by those very words. "MAY THE FIRE OF MY FURY CLEANSE YOU FROM THIS WORLD!"

All Nau saw was a bright flash of light that blinded his eyes, a roar of a mighty beast that deafened his ears, and an intense heat that burned his very skin.

After a moment of burning pain, the white from his vision and the deaf tone of his ears soon faded away as he could hear and see the world once more. He first noticed that he was on his back, again. Also he felt that he just received a full body sunburn as the plates of his armor was very hot to touch as the same with his rifle.

After taking a moment to gather his bearings, Nau slowly sat up and became momentarily speechless at what he is currently seeing.

Everything in a cone shaped area was on fire and smoldering black. The trees, homes, and even the stone road was burnt down to ash. It was then Nau finally traced the brunt area to the very source, the Green Giant now holding his bright hot glowing shield as it rapidly cooled to a dull red.

It was at this point that Nau realised that there was no sign or traces of the Grimm. But after taking one look at what happened and the Giant's red hot shield, Nau quickly deduced that the bright flash from the Green Giant completely incinerated the large Grimm.

After taking a moment to breathe in the now heated air. Nau shakily stood onto his feet, wincing as he felt a stinging pain everywhere that had exposed skin, noticing the skin on his hands were red with sunburn.

Nau then exited the town hall and made his way towards the still standing Giant. Who is seemingly staring off into the distance where he has just incinerated the Grimm into oblivion.

"W-What was that?" Nau questioned in a shell-shocked tone.

The Giant didn't answer immediately, seemingly content on staring off into the distance. "That… was an end to a great evil that has plagued these lands for decades." The Green Giant simply said.

Nau couldn't help but nod at that. "Yeah… you're right." He then stared at the smoldered grounds and burning ruins that were once homes. "So what are you going to do now?" Nau couldn't help but ask.

"I shall stay and escort the survivors of your village to the next available settlement. Once I am assured of your people's safety. Then I shall resume towards my previous destination." The Green Giant said.

This shocked Nau but soon turned into gratification as he looked towards the Green Giant. "Thank you. For everything." Nau said. There were too many words to say to the Giant. So he decided as few words as possible to express his gratitude.

The Giant turned towards Nau. "It is my sworn duty to defend Humanity and protect the Innocent. That is enough for me." The Green Giant said in a humble tone.

Nau smiled. "I can get behind that. I still didn't get your name." Nau reminded.

There was a silent pause between Nau and the green Giant, long enough for Nau to realise maybe the Giant didn't want to share his name.

Before Nau could wave off the request, the Green Giant suddenly dropped his hammer on its head and placed his right hand on its pommel. Then he propped the massive tower shield to his side before letting go of it.

Suddenly a loud hiss emanated from his head as the Giant's red glowing eyes suddenly dimmed. He then used his now free shield hand and reached up towards his head. Nau waited on bated breath as the Green Giant pulled off the intimidating helmet.

What soon met his sight froze Nau's blood still.

The Giant's rough grim face was marred with three large scars and short black hair covering the top of his head.

But that wasn't what caught Naus by surprise. The Giant's skin was black, as black as the night and as black as the Grimm. Two glowing red orbs for eyes met his and froze Nau in place.

Nau expected many things, but not this.

"There is nothing you need to fear from me. honored Huntsman."The Giant said, snapping Nau out of his state of shock.

"I am Li'Rhan of the Salamanders. Firedrake Master of the 1st Company. For as long as I can wield my shield, the innocent shall know no fear."

AN:

And that's a wrap. Once more like Vulkan, I come back from the ashes of my own life to bring you another chapter.

Now before I share what decision I made with Remnant of the Swarm; I'll answer a few questions you readers may be asking about this chapter.

What happened with the meeting between Julius and Polendina? And why is Ozpin not aware of what really went on?

For those who don't know, in this fic I made Polendina a reincarnated Archmagos from the Adeptus Mechanicus who was reincarnated into the world of RWBY and created all the technology you see in the show and many more. So suffice to say he knew Ozpin had camera's spying on him during his meeting with Julius and so replaced the live footage with a FAKE video of what Ozpin expected to see, a normal business offer from Polendina to Julius.

Does Team RWBY and JNPR know of Ozpin and Salem?

No they do not. This takes place around Season 4 of RWBY, before they learned everything. Only Pyrrha knows about Salem as well as Ozpin's crew and the maidens, but nothing about Ozpin's ability to reincarnate, not yet at least.

Why is Julius addressing Polendina as archmagos or Polendinius and why is Polendina referring himself as such?

Because its simply Polendina's real name and identity that only Julius and a few selected individuals know, individuals that are from the Imperium of Man. They only address Polendina as Polendina in public setting or with others who don't know who Polendina really is, a secret to be kept as a hidden weapon.

Will Penny be returning like in the show?

For a while I have thought on this, whether or not I should bring her back. I have not made up my mind yet, because my argument is that Penny in my fic is not an android or a full robot. She is an advanced form of a Skitarii, a weapon born from a combination of both human flesh and machine. Polendina explained how he had to do A LOT of political cover up in order to have Penny build from a body of a dying orphan. Plus in the canon she was torn apart and shown to the world as a machine, no one is going to welcome her back any time soon, proving one of Polendina's greatest misgivings about humanity on Remnant.

Does Polendina know about Ozpin's origins/abilities? Does he know what the Relics really do?

Polendina now is not aware of Ozpin's true identity as well as his abilities. Same with the Relics as these are Ozpin's closely guarded secrets that he wants NO ONE knowing freely, only a trusted few know about some of the information, but not all.

This was seen in Volume 6 when everything was revealed by Jinn and how much he kept from Team RWBY and Qrow. He has his reasons as to why he kept those secrets, very good reasons in my opinion.

What is Shion Village?

For those of you who don't know, Shion village is in Mistral and was the destroyed village that Team RNJR (Ruby, Nora, Jaune and Ren) arrived to during their walk to Mistral. It is explained how Raven's Branwen Tribe raided the village and left the inhabitants to the Grimm.

This should also show you where this fic is concerning the timeline.

Who is Nau?

Nau is the dying Huntsman that Team RNJR found in Shion. I simply gave him a name and background for this fic. Fun fact, his name means Brown in Vietnamese. (Used Google Translate for this BTW).

Is that a Salamander!

Yes, it is! Specifically a Firedrake Master of the 1st Company. Basically the Veteran amongst Veterans of Salamanders. And as you may come to know, he's one of the three Space Marines from Polendina's vision. Coming to Remnant much like Julius.

Is the Salamander also like Julius in terms of reincarnation in Warhammer 40k then sent to RWBY?

Yes. Guess who he used to be on Remnant if you haven't already known. I dropped a lot of hints in his scenes, especially his name. Li'Rhan.

Why did Raven get beaten so easily? She is way stronger with Maiden powers!

Yes I agree, but she sorely underestimated Li'Rhan's ability to react appropriately to her attack.

Remember, Li'Rhan is a Veteran Space Marine of the 1st company known for their tendencies to get into close combat. He is wielding a Storm Shield, a shield wreathed in the same power field that is used in Power swords, Powerfists, and Thunder Hammers, able to outright obliterate anything it touches with enough force.

Add that with a Super Human Veteran who probably fought things faster then Raven on a day by day basis, his speed is dampened by his heavy armor, but not his reaction speed to simply move his shield in Raven's way and basically bash her with the shield.

Then in that case, why isn't Raven straight up dead?

Like I said, Raven has aura and has boosted Maiden powers. She survived with a grievously injured arm due to those combinations.

Now if she were hit by the Thunder hammer, then that would be different.

The flaming thunder hammer, is that his semblance?

No. The flaming hammer is actually something canon from 40k universe and unique to the Salamanders. Many of you may know, but each Salamanders learn to basically become blacksmiths, taking care of their weapons and armor without the aid of a Tech Marine or Tech priest.

In some cases, this has lead the Salamanders to creating some very potent master crafted armor and weapons, weapons such as promethean wreathed power weapons. Look it up.

The Glowing shield. Is THAT his semblance?

Yes. But I will explain it in more detail later.

What was that Grimm they faced at the end?

If you didn't know that was the Nuckaleeve Team RNJR fought and killed.

*Important*

Now I'll get straight to the point. I am completely redoing Remnant of the Swarm, revamping the story as well as the character Ceres himself.

Now the reason why I have come to this decision is because it was my very first story, back in a time where I was just feeling out my own writing skills and fleshing out my ideas as the show RWBY went on.

Reading it now, I can't help but cringe at what I have written and the numerous plot devices I could've used or done to flesh out the story more.

But what really sold me that I needed to redo the story was pointed out by one of my readers concerning my main character.

What's his drive? What's keeping him on Remnant? Why isn't he going out and trying to find his way back home when he could easily do so? Why does it seem that he can easily solve everything but have weak excuses to not to? Why is he so trustful of Ozpin, a man who manipulate those around him for the greater good?

After this was pointed out, I realised just how accurate this all was about my character, Ceres. He suppose to be this intelligent Leader of the Swarm, but also he used to be a giant BRAIN with the sole purpose of making sure Kerrigan survived and advancing the Zerg.

So I came to a hard decision to do this. I deeply apologize to those who love my story so far and that I'm coming to this decision. But I assure you, the revamped version will be a lot better in terms of writing and actual plot.

I am planning for the new Remnant of the Swarm to have more of a realistic Ceres, one not bound solely by human emotions and somewhat more pragmatic, a Ceres with more psionic powers to show his psionic might, a Ceres who does his own thing and not what Ozpin wants.

And most importantly, more Zerg Swarm action. I realised my story has a great lack of what makes the Zerg so fun to read, reading as a swarm of Zerg collides with a massive horde of Grimm as they fight tooth and claw for land superiority.

I plan to add all that and more. With the information I have about the RWBY-verse, a better insight about Salem as well as Ozpin, I can confidently say I will write a more enjoyable story then what I have now.

So all I ask of you, those who supported me to this day, to give this new story a chance and to respect my decision and as to why I am doing this.

I thank you all for being so patient with me.

Now since I was away for so long, here is a nice funny Omake I came up with on the spot.

Omake:

What if…

Julius was reincarnated back into Jaune's body as a baby and grew since then into canon RWBY?

Julius opened his eyes. The world seemed a lot larger than he expected. And why couldn't he…

He stared at his pathetically small hands.

What happened to him?

He then tried to stand, but it felt as if his head was a lot heavier then it used to be?

What Happened To Him?

He then yelled out for help, but all that came out was a startled cry of an infant.

What Has Happened To Him!?

"Mooooom! The Jaune is crying again!"

"Don't worry! Mommy's coming!"

Immediately the noises bore fruit as the largest human female he ever saw entered his vision.

'Human woman! I demand to know where I am and where are my brothers!'

"Hubatthhhh! Guaaa huuuu ptttth!"

"Awww~! Does wittle Jauney need a hug hug~?" the woman cooed disgustingly as she reached towards him.

'Unhand me vile witch! I will not be treated like this!'

"Muuuuuuuuuuu~!"

"Awwww~! Is wittle Jauney upset that mommy is not giving him hug hugs~?" The woman said as she started smothering him.

'UNHAND ME! I AM AN ADEPTUS ASTARTES! AND YOU WILL FEEL MY WRATH!' Julius roared as he bit into the woman's shoulders.

However, what he did not account for was the lack of teeth to inflict pain.

"Awwww~! Is my wittle Jauney hungry again? Do you want mommy's milk?" The woman taunted.

'NO! I WILL SEE YOU BLEED A RIVER AND BURN YOUR CORPSE UNTIL IT'S-' Julius stopped mid sentence and stared in abject terror as the woman brought out her left mammary gland and brought it near his face.

"Open wiiiide wittle Jauney~!"

'NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-'

5 years later…

"Thank you for coming today Mr. and Mrs. Arc." The Principal said as both Arc's took a seat in front of his desk.

They were called to the elementary school by the Principal about their son, for what reason, neither of them know.

"What seems to be the problem?" Mr. Arc, getting straight to the point.

"Well… it's about your son…" The Principal slowly eased them in.

"What happened to our little Jauney? Is he getting bullied?" Mrs. Arc asked in a worried tone only a mother of eight kids could say.

The Principal took a deep breath. "No. that is not the issue here." The Principal said, clearly not comfortable with the subject.

Mr. Arc lost his patience. "Well? What's the problem with my son then?"

The Principal sighed. "Your son has started a cult."

There was a beat of silence. "My son did what?"

"Your son started a cult dubbed: The Cult Imperialis." The Principal said.

Immediately both Arcs nodded their heads, understanding completely what was going on. "Oh that! It's just a phase he's going through!" Mrs. Arc said with a smile as Mr. Arc smiled alongside her.

However, the Principal wasn't smiling. "Your son has been with us for only a week. On the first day he openly defies his teacher Ms. Greene, saying how, and I quote, he required all the juice boxes and granola bars to fuel his personal crusade against the mutants and the heretics." The Principal explained.

Mrs. Arc held her smile. "Ahh that! He's a growing boy and needs his vitamins! He's always eating his fruits and vegetables, even from his sisters! Isn't he such a good healthy boy?" Mrs. Arc said as Mr. Arc smiled at the thought. "My boy will grow up strong! I know he will!" Mr. Arc added.

The Principal shook his head. "Your son on the second day got into a fight with four Grade 5 students and hospitalized two of them with broken bones." The Principal continued.

Again, Mrs. Arc smiled. "Oh I remember that! My little Jauney told us that he fought four big kids and came back home covered in bruises. When we asked what happened, he told us he fought off four big kids! But wouldn't you know, a father, what was his name honey?"

"Taiyang Xiao Long."

"Taiyang Xiao Long! Came by to our home and thanked our son for protecting his little angel of a daughter! Apparently, they were in the same class and she was being bullied for not having a mommy. So my son stepped in and saved her from the mean bullies!"

"Like a knight in shining armor! Our ancestors would be proud!"

The Principal stared dumbfounded but continued on. "On the third day during recess time he started gathering all the First graders together and created the cult I mentioned before. He then started a sermon about this person called, the God-Emperor, and how he is the master of mankind and that any who dared go against him is considered, and I quote, A filthy heretic that must be purged from our sight." The Principal explained.

This time the Arcs shared a laugh. "Oh that! Why that's my little Jauney's imaginary friend!" Mrs. Arc explained.

Mr. Arc then spoke. "My son doesn't have a lot of friends. It's good he always talks about his imaginary friend. Says how his friend gives him strength to face his enemies and how his friend is always by his side and watching over him! Isn't it adorable sweetie."

"Yes it is honey."

The Principal rubbed his eyes. "On the fourth day your son gathered all the 1st graders and started a violent revolt against the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. The teachers tried to stop them but were immediately set upon by the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders, all now indoctrinated by your son's cult." The Principal explained.

Mrs. Arc gasped. "I can't believe it…"

The Principal smiled. "Finally, you now understand that-"

"My little Jauney is MAKING FRIENDS!" Mrs. Arc squealed as Mr. Arc matched her smile. "I knew my boy could do it! He was always the charismatic one!" Mr. Arc added.

Mrs. Arc nodded. "Well he did get it from his handsome and charming father." Mrs. Arc said in a sultry tone.

Mr. Arc gave his wife a sultry stare. "You always know how to get me going."

The Principal had enough. "Could you both please be serious! Right now your son is leading all the students against the faculty! They have already taken over 95% of the school and the teachers have barricaded themselves in the Teacher's lounge!" The Principal shouted, startling both Arcs.

Mrs. Arc smiled. "They're just children playing a game. Let them have their fun!" Mrs. Arc said.

It was at this moment the Principal's personal intercom buzzed as a voice came through. "Principal Chalk! We have a situation! We are holding them off as long as we can! But they already got the Janitorial Staff and their supplies! We're desperately running low on glue and erasers! We need-"

Suddenly they heard what sounded like a loud explosion on the other end, followed by the screaming of a hundred bloodthirsty children.

"Oh god! They got throu-"

"Canoness Yang has cleared the way! Forward loyal servants of Mankind! FOR THE EMPEROR!"

"FOR THE EMPER-!"

The intercom was soon cut off as the static blared through the Principal's personal intercom.

The Principal shut off his intercom. "Now do you see how much of a menace your son is to my school?" The Principal asked.

However, both Arcs glared furiously at him. "What did you call our son?" Mrs. Arc asked.

"Your son is a-" SLAP!

"DON'T YOU DARE CALL MY LITTLE JAUNEY A MENACE! HE IS A GROWING BOY! SAVED A GIRL FROM BULLIES YOU AND YOUR TEACHERS FAILED TO DEAL WITH! AND NOW JUST MAKING FRIENDS AND HAVING FUN! AND YOU CALL HIM A MENACE!"Mrs. Arc screamed in rage.

She then suddenly picked up her purse as she stood from her seat, Mr. Arc following her lead. "I see now that this school and it's teachers will only stunt my little Jauney's learning and creativity. I will be taking my son from this horrid school! Come honey. Let's get Jauney out of here." Mrs. Arc said as she and Mr. Arc left the Principal's office.

The Principal simply sighed and rubbed his eyes. "At least that little menace is leaving."

Suddenly his intercom activated. "What could it be this time?" The Principal questioned before letting the call through.

"Principal Chalk of the Happy Times Elementary Schola Progenium. This is Lord Commander Jaune Julius Arc of the newly formed Adulescentes Filii Imperialis. We demand your immediate surrender of your title, your lands, and the location of the snack and juice pantry. Failure to reply will result in the summary execution of the prisoners of war every hour through the execution method of the swirly. Starting now. Commissar Cardin!"

"No! WAIT! NOT THE TOILET!"

"FLUUUUSSSSHH!"

"Ms. Greene NO!"

"You have six hours to surrender yourself to the mercy of the God-Emperor and his most holy followers."

The intercom cut off as static filled the room.

The Principal simply laid his head on his desk, hoping for a better day.

And the end. How was it? Good? Bad? Okay?

If you can please leave a review, comment, question or suggestion.

I'll be working on the revamped version of Remnant of the Swarm. See you all until then.
