Prompt from Torie714: Can you do a sequel to chapter 128 where evie finds jacob and has to calm him down from a panic attack from all the stuff with Roth
It is short, because I struggled with the prequel to this.
….
Evie wasn't entirely sure how she escaped.
She'd like to blame it on her skills as an assassin, but personally, it was probably because the Blighters let their guards down just once.
Once was all it took.
Jacob had acted like nothing was wrong at first, laughing it off saying that he knew she'd make it out.
However, as thunder cracked violently outside, the booming vibrations rumbling through the room, she could swear that she heard something in the next room. Slowly, she made her way through the carriages, wincing as the aches and pains from her previous beating made themselves known, until she was in her brother's room.
Now, it was clear that he was trying to muffle his sobs.
Evie took a seat on the edge of the bed, shushing him softly as Jacob cried, eyes wide open in panic. He continued to shake violently, but eventually the tears slowly started to taper off, but his breathing was still far too fast. She placed a soothing hand on his back, running it up and down.
He sounded like he was suffocating. Hearing his ragged breathing, Evie cupped his cheeks with her hands, a part of her heart hoping that he would recognise and be soothed by the action.
For a moment, they stared at each other, Evie silently pleading for Jacob to match her breathing and calm down.
Eventually, Jacob calmed down as Evie shifted closer, wrapping her arms around him, as the storm continued on outside.
"I'm fine." She whispered, "I'm here, and I'm fine."
