The Sailor
A most unusual Sailor was in our company.
Our destination was the great city of Canterbury.
Not ever was this sailor a common man.
But maiden from the London Cheapside Clan.
To be a sailor aboard a man's ship, she had needed a good disguise.
Of her description, I will be precise.
A woman would never be granted passage on His Majesty's ship.
So she changed her look to that of a boy, and tricked the whole crew because she is sharp as a whip.
No more dresses will she stand to wear.
She traded them in for boots, trousers, tunics, and a hat to hide her short blonde hair.
This sailor is near of twenty years old.
She has been on many adventures and has countless tales to be told.
And it all started with a passion for sailing the seven seas
And a longing to feel upon her face the cooling of the sea breeze.
The sight of the blue sea and the massive gallant ship filled her with such excitement.
The chance for adventure and freedom was such an incitement.
She loves nothing more than being on the ship, soaking up the suns hot rays.
Her tanned skin is proof of those glorious days.
This sailor was quite a remarkable little thing.
Of many skills and talents she did bring.
One of which was she sang most pleasantly.
For those who have heard her voice would agree.
Although her voice was not her only instrument.
She brought with, her violin, of which she did accompliment.
Many evenings with her mates were spent clapping and dancing to a merry tune.
Then the crew would join in, with feelings of gaiety as they danced and sang beneath the moon.
Life on the sea can be quite a risk to one's safety.
So she learned how to defend herself, that brave little lady.
An addition to her many talents, her skills with a sword are quite impressive.
She parries, lunges, spins, and strikes opponents; she can get quite aggressive.
Although the sword is a lethal weapon that requires great skill
She never will allow it to taste the blood of a kill.
Time has granted her quite a number of enemies that wish for her a terrible fate.
Infamous pirates, bandits, outlaws, and thieves are those that look upon her with hate.
Luckily, this sailor has many loyal allies who would eagerly come to her aid.
For this sailor was very much loved and admired by the friends she has made.
Our company continues on the road to Canterbury with the spirited little miss sailor in tow.
She is excited for the journey; for it is another adventure she will come to know.
Our whole company recounts tales and stories to pass the time.
The lovely little sailor is the one with the most stories; stories mostly of her fighting crime.
She will play a tune on her penny whistle, and get us all to join in together in harmonious song.
Her cheerful presence and musical talents make the journey feel not so long.
Although in her heart, the sailor longs to be back home at sea.
She takes any adventure, whatever it may be.
