Hello all. I would like to thank rainystv for the lovely review. And would like to thank you all once again for reading, reviewing, following and favouring, I love you all.

Well here we are. The end of this tale. I would like to thank all you lovely people.

Disclaimer: I don't own Supernatural.

Once they finally parted from their first kiss Dean and Castiel realised that they had a lot to talk about. As such they did what they always used to do and climbed up onto the hood of the impala and leaned back against the windshield and started trading story for story. The only difference this time was that they held firmly to each other's hand as they talked. And they didn't just discuss the things that they had seen and done over the past year, they also discussed all the things from there past, putting their feelings for each other into words that made the other so happy to hear.

The gun remained on the floor where Dean had dropped, neglected and unremembered. Because now they had each other, there was no thoughts of ever parting again.

The pleasant trade of stories was interrupted in middle by the sound of the guitar riff Dean still had as his ring tone. And answering the phone he was confronted by a frantic Sam, who getting up to get some water had discovered his brothers voice mail message and was understanding shaken by it. And so the tale had to be told again, Dean explained everything to Sam, and when he didn't believe his brother, thinking he just wanted him to go so he could go shoot himself, Castiel took the phone from Dean's hand and spoke. The sound of Castiel's voice send such a wave of relief through the younger Winchester even he was surprised by it. For it wasn't just that Dean wouldn't kill himself if Cas was there, but the fact that for the last year Sam had been trying to live up to this man and failing miserably. And now Cas was back Sam could go back to being Dean's younger brother and nothing else. He hadn't realised how much he had taken on himself until that moment, but he was glad it was over. So it was with great relief and happiness that Sam hung up on the two on the car and went back to bed with Jess.

Dean and Castiel settled back on the car and the conversation turned from the past to the future. Castiel didn't have a job anymore, what with dying and all, and neither did Dean. But neither of them were in a hurry to get one so they decided they would stay in Bobby's old house for a while. After all Dean had put a lot of effort into it, might as well make use of it. It was also near Castiel's home so that he could spend time with his family who would no doubt want to rejoice with them in his return.

Once all the talking they could think of was done Dean curled up against Castiel and closed his eyes. Happily relaxing in the arms of his best friend and love. And Castiel, he brushed his hand through Deans hair and kissed his forehead, still not really sure that he wouldn't wake up in the morning and for this all to be a dream. But even if it was, it was the best he had ever had and one he never wanted to end.

Of course Castiel was convinced is wasn't a dream when he was rudely woken with the sunrise by Gabriel honking the horn of the impala making both Dean and Cas jump awake. It looked like his brother was back to his normal trickster self, and that was good. And with Gabriel was Anna whom Dean had desperately wanted to meet after hearing how much help she had been to Cas. And so another round of hugs and greeting was exchanged. Castiel even heard his brother mumble something to dean that sounded suspiciously like sorry, not that he would ask, but he was glad that everyone was happy and friends once more.

They were finally together, and though neither of them would ever say it was a good thing that Castiel had 'died' Dean did have to admit that the shock had helped him realise his feelings, and Castiel felt that losing his memory had helped him see just how important dean was to him.

And so as the sun rose behind them Castiel and Dean walked back to the house hand in hand, ready to start a new phase in their life together as well as the new day. And both were hearty glad that in some way they had, this time round, saved each other.

THE END
