Carnivore

Chapter 14: Moonsea

He couldn't look at her, afraid to find rejection in her eyes. She was the ARK's Princess after all, he reminded himself sourly.

"Oh."

Her only reply.

His held swerved towards her, his eyes filled with confusion. "Oh? That's your answer?"

"What do you want me to say?" She slinked back towards the bed, her strength (no matter, if she's still a wolf now) was fading as the light outside seemed to.

He growled. After all the stories, he had heard about mates this was not a situation he had ever come across, "Anything really, other than 'oh'."

"Well. No offense there our 'fearless leader,' but you just laid it out for me. I don't know what to feel." She didn't, that was the truth. Her mind was a total mess, like a solar flare; fierce then burnt out and gone.

Her mind didn't feel like it was ready for this type of conversation. Four days ago, all she knew was she would be insane within a week. But now? She didn't know what to do, her future just a mystery as the man before her.

He was different from what she would have pictured. Bellamy was even different from the first sight of him when they landed. His curls had fallen out of the slick back look, and he had an Earthly feel to him now. A tan that sure brought out his freckles dotting his face.

Bellamy could see the wheels turning in her head, "fine." He resolved. They would deal with this situation that they are in later, "Please. Stay here and rest." His wolf didn't like the noncommitted answer she gave, but the human could respect it. They had barely known each other long enough.

It's only a matter of time before she would give in and have a more direct answer, anyways.

"No, I have to check on Jasper and make sure he's alright." Even though they are wolves, doesn't mean they heal faster. They spent too much time in space, and too little food to fill their hungry stomachs. They were all underweight, and it shows.

"He's fine. We are all more worried about you."

"Really?"

"Well yeah. It not every day that they see a princess knock around an alpha. They are all waiting for you…. some more than others." He muttered softly. He liked that the hundred wanted to check on the Princess (after the first time when she came back to the camp covered in blood, they held a new respect for her), but they needed to get the wall finished before anything else (or worse) could happen to them. He told them all he would protect them, but doesn't mean even he could fight a whole army alone.

"Finn?"

He clenched his jaw. His wolf was caged now, but that didn't mean it would stand by as she said the boy's name.

Her eyes rolled at the Alphas stance, "Unhealthy obsession." She whispered at him. Sure, Finn was cute and all, but now when they landed she had a moment pressing matter. Such as her dying in her own body.

"If you—"

"Don't even." She cut in. Even if (and it was a big IF) she wanted to be with Finn, she felt as though it would not have lasted. Like a Romeo and Juliet scenario where multiple people would die and nothing would have been gained out of it in the long run.

He cleared his throat, "I know we have a lot to talk about." Bellamy knew he was heading towards a rant but couldn't stop his mouth from continuing, "But we—"

"We have to survive first." She shot back. He eyes turning calculating and ready to lead.

Pride swelled inside his chest at the sight. A Princess ready to rule over her people.

"Are you going to interrupt me all the time?" He questioned with a smirk glazing his features.

She ignored his remark, pushing herself to use whatever energy she had left to get up from the makeshift bed; she had slept enough. Now, it was time to move and plan, "We need to start planning for the winter. Also prepare for whatever the hell the grounders want from us."

He grabbed her hand as she tried to walk by him, "I need one thing from you." He paused, making sure she was listening to what he had to say, "Will you rest here? When you're tired, I mean." He corrected once he saw her eyes flare with a deeper blue, "My wolf doesn't like not knowing if you're safe or not." He explained.

She smirked a little as blush bloomed across her face, "Only your wolf?" She taunted before turning towards him completely, "I think I can handle myself." She whispered in conspiracy.

"I'll help you with your wolf." The words tumbled out of his mouth.

She stilled, her hand still grasped in his, "You will?" She was stunned that he would even ask. Most of the delinquents have been already trained to control the wolf inside. Wells and her being the exception.

Bellmay's eyes turned darker than ever as he remembered the ARK, "I spent so many years holding the wolf back because of what I am, that I've become somewhat a master." The space cage was no longer taming him, he had to remind himself.

Clarke remembers being a child, wanting to release her wolf. The chain of the band closing off her sense to the world around her, to where it was almost claustrophobic. Now, they felt turned up to hundred and she didn't know how to handle it for she knew learned in the first place.

Decisions, decisions, her mind replayed for her, "Fine." She snatched her hand away from him finally as his heat from his already worn big hands began to feel too nice to her.

He chuckled to her, "Then you might wanna put some pants on there, Princess."
