Once Upon a Time
Summary: Sofia discovers that someone she sees on a near-daily basis is not feeling well. In order to cheer him up, she decides to read him a story.
Disclaimer: I do not own "Sofia the First" or any characters represented in this story. :) I also apologize for the extreme "shortness" of this story. I had a thought and wanted to get it down. When there's more downtime from teaching, I'll try to upload another story or two for you all. Hope you enjoy this in the meantime! (PS—Thank you all for the kind reviews/favorites/follows for "Super" and "Why Purple?" I appreciate it so much!)
Sofia hummed happily as she adjusted her seating area in Cedric's workshop. She, of course, had a task before her: cheer up her patient. It must have been kind of frustrating not to be able to move too well, especially since bandages were wrapped around various sections of his body. He'd had quite a bad accident with a potion the day before, and, being Sofia, she'd been more than willing to help him out and nurse him back to health.
The princess opened her book and smiled at the pouting sight before her. She had to laugh softly at the look on his face—one of annoyance and confusion.
"What's so funny?" he asked, eyeing her pointedly.
"I've never seen you look so…annoyed, I guess."
"You clearly haven't been paying enough attention then…" His eyes fell to her book. "What are you reading to me today?"
She grinned and turned slightly. "You'll see! Just lie down and rest." She waited for a few seconds as the patient finally complied, however hesitantly. "All right, once upon a time, in a kingdom far, far away…"
A few minutes later, Sofia shut the book upon its completion and smiled at the sleeping figure before her. She heard the door open and smiled as she turned. "Hi, Mr. Cedric!"
Cedric smiled in return and walked inside, shutting the door behind him. "How is he?"
Sofia nodded back toward her patient, Wormwood, and giggled. "He's fast asleep. I read him a story."
"Oh, I'm sure he loved that…" He placed some new ingredients and vials onto the table.
"He did actually, especially when I added his name to the story."
"Ah, very clever… Thank you for watching him for me, Princess Sofia. Hopefully these new ingredients will heal up his wing faster." He sighed as he looked down at the raven, who seemed to be dozing quite nicely. "Although it was his own fault for flying directly into a bubbling potion."
She smiled and shook her head humorously. "I'm sure he'll be better in no time. Well, I need to get ready for bed. Good night, Mr. Cedric." She hopped down from her seat and hugged her mentor before turning back to Wormwood. "Good night, Wormwood. I hope you feel better soon." She gently stroked his feathers before turning again and leaving them with a smile.
Cedric glanced back at Wormwood, who cracked an eye open. "Milking it for all it's worth, aren't you, Wormy?"
The raven seemed to smirk proudly before closing his eyes once again.
