Note: If you haven't seen it yet, please see the important notice I've left among the last chapters. The story is being rewritten again, but this time in a separate submission. Edit: It is now out!
It was around the end of March, around 5:44 in the afternoon on a Sunday when a train stopped at the station in Hikarizaka. Among the many other people exiting the train, a young girl with long straight brunette hair and blue eyes came out, dragging a roller bag with her. The girl was 17-year-old Kimura Sakura. She stood at 5'4", was wearing a blue shirt and a dark skirt, and sneakers at her feet. On her hair, she had a sakura petal hairpin on the side of her hair near her bangs.
"So this is it?" She says to herself, looking around the station. She begins walking, taking her roller bag with her. After finding her way out of the station and onto the unfamiliar grounds of the place she was in, she took out a paper, and map. The paper had the name of a school, and its dormitory, and the dorm's address. Sakura left the station, following signs, and the info on the paper. She also found her way with the help of other people who pointed her in the direction of the dorm. Soon she reached her destination and stopped in front of the dormitory. It was a wide large building reaching 4 stories in height. In front of the entrance, there was a young woman sweeping the steps. She notices Sakura.
"Do you need help?" The lady kindly asks.
"Yes. Um, I'm Kimura Sakura. Do you know who is the parent of this dorm?"
"That'd me. I'm Mizuki." The lady replies in a friendly tone. She approaches Sakura and received a set of papers from her. "Ah, I was expecting you much later, but let's get you in. Follow me."
"Okay." Sakura follows the dorm parent in and stops at a Room 7. Mizuki opens it and let's Sakura in.
"This is your room. Also, your belongings have already arrived."
"I see that." Sakura responds, seeing boxes in the corner. She turns to her dorm parent, "Thank you, um..."
"Mizuki's fine."
"Oh, then thank you, Mizuki-san.
"You're welcome. So, if you need anything, feel free to ask me." With that, she closes the door.
Sakura looks around. Her dorm room was a bit small. She had her bed in the corner and a few drawers and a closet near it, and a desk in the other corner. In the middle of the room, sat a small table. A few boxes which contained her other belongings was to her left in a small closet.
"Did I bring that..." She goes over her roller bag and took out a small pendant which had the words 'My Best Friend' on it. Suddenly, her flip phone within her shirt pocket began to ring. She took it out and answered it. "Hello?"
"Hey, it's me. Have you made it to Hikarizaka?"
"I just made it to the dormitory. And my stuff is already here so I can start setting up." Sakura said, walking and looking out the window in her room. "...So why did I go to this school again?"
"I have good feelings about it. I guess you think of it as a new beginning." The voice happily said.
"Just because you have good feelings about it? How does that makes this school a good choice like you said?" Sakura said indifferently.
"It can be if fun if you make it. Just take a chance at this. And once you're done with this school year, you can just head back home. I just really want you to enjoy your last year of high school."
"Thanks for thinking of me, but you know that it isn't that simple, especially for me."
"I know, I know. If only Ayame were with you, huh?"
"But she's got other matters to do, so it's okay." Sakura replies.
"Okay, just make sure to get settled in. Tomorrow marks your first day of school of your third-year. Make sure to attend classes, okay? And make sure to give Kuriko a call."
"I will. Bye, Makoto." Sakura ends the call, and looks through her contacts. She closes her phone and looks at her boxes of belongings. "Okay, time to set up the place..." She began to take the belongings from the boxes and placed them around the room. She placed her clothes in the drawers, and some of her appliances like her clock on top of her desk in the corner. It wasn't really much, but she didn't mind. As the day was coming to an end, Sakura had received her uniform from her dorm mother. The first day wasn't too far away.
Sakura had woken up around 7:00 in the morning on Monday, April 1st. She took a quick shower and wore her school uniform. It consisted of a yellow sailor shirt and a pleaded dark blue skirt. She puts her hairpin in her hair and heads on to leave her room. She grabs her bag on the way. Once outside, she decided to follow the students that were attending the same school as her. As she followed them she soon saw a long path up a hill that lead apparently lead up to their school. Sakura trees lined up the hill at it sides.
"What a pretty sight..." Sakura says in delight. At the foot of the hill, she saw a girl standing there, staring at the hill. She had blue patch on her shirt signifying she was a third-year like her. The girl had short brown hair with two small antennas in the middle, and had brown colored eyes. Sakura decided to not mind her and to just continue her walk up the hill.
She makes it up the hill and past its gates. She sees a gathering of students at the side building. They were looking at what classes they were going to. Sakura went up the boards and began to look for her own name. She looked under Class 3-D and saw her name.
"Class 3-D..." She mutters the class number. Around her, she could hear the students around her. She hears the idle chatting of the students. Some were happy about being in the same class or having a certain teacher, while some were the complete opposite. Sakura looked to her right and saw a blonde guy staring at her. He was dressed in the male uniform which was a yellow blazer and a red tie with dark blue pants for the bottom. His patch too, was blue.
As she faced him, the blonde student waved his left free left hand, "Oh, it's nothing." Saying that, he turned around and walked off.
"...What was that about?" She takes one more look at the board and walked off, making her way to the class her name was under. She first walked into the school building, found her shoe locker and then donned her indoor shoes. After that, she finds her class upstairs and finds her seat in the back corner just one desk in front of the last one in the first column of rows. She took her seat, and began to stare outside the window next to her.
Time began to pass by and soon classes had started. Students came in and started to fill in the seats of the class. One of them was the blonde guy who she saw staring at her at the boards from earlier in the day. He was positioned a seat diagonally in back of her to her right. A guy with blue hair sitting to his left which was just a seat back behind Sakura. From hearing how they interact, it seems they are friends.
"Okay everyone take your seat, classes are starting." A teacher proclaimed to the students as he walked into the class. He walked up to his podium at the front and looked at the students in front him. He looks at the blonde guy and blue haired guy in back of Sakura. The teacher let out a sigh. "Those two..."
Minutes later, the teacher did row call and Sakura found out the blonde boy's name was Sunohara Youhei, and his blue haired friend was Okazaki Tomoya. The teacher's words upon calling them made her think they were delinquents.
"Okay, that's done. Anyone want to volunteer for the spot of the class representative?" The teacher asks, looking at the students. No one raised their hands. "So no one, huh? I guess we'll have to randomly pick then..." The teacher prepared a short lottery using the names of the students in the class. The teacher pulled out a piece of paper and called out the name on it. "Fujibayashi."
"Yes?" A purple short haired girl from the first row responded
"It seems like you're going to be the class rep"
"O-Okay..."
The teacher continued to talk. He explained the plan for their new opening ceremony, and the basic rules for it. "And that's how we'll head into the gym, okay. Does anyone have any questions?" The teacher asks. "No, well okay then, now we will go. C'mon everyone."
The students of the class stood up and began leaving the room. Sakura rose up and began following her peers to the gymnasium where students sat by their year and class. The first-years were in the back, the second-years were in the middle and the third-years were in the front. Once the students were all seated, they sent through a small speech by the school principal and the current acting student council president.
"Same old stuff." Sakura noted, hearing the speech. She looks to her right and saw the blonde guy and his blue haired friend. They were sitting a few chairs a way from her. From time to time, she'd notice him, looking at her. What is with that guy?, she thought.
Proceeding the end of the opening ceremony, the students were dismissed to their classes, and lunch followed shortly after.
"Finally...the day is almost over..." Sakura said as she saw the some of the students leaving their class. She got up from her seat and left into the corridor.
"Hey, Kimura." She hears a voice call. As she heard her name being called, she turned around and saw the blonde guy heading her way along with his friend, although his friend had the look that he didn't want to be there. "Oh it's you from before." She glanced at the both of them. "You need something?"
"Not really..." The blonde said.
"Good, then I'm going." Sakura turned around and began walking.
"Wait." She heard him call out. "I'm Sunohara Youhei."
"And?"
"So you don't know who I am?" He asks.
"What's that supposed to mean?" Sakura shook her head. "If you're just a flirt then please leave me alone. I don't want to be with people like you." Saying that, Sakura began to walk off.
"Damn..." Sunohara uttered as he saw her walk off.
"I think any girl would be creeped about some guy hitting on her. Especially someone who's sketchy looking as you." Sunohara's friend articulated.
"You were with me so you're just as guilty."
"No, I was a witness just in case you tried anything perverted." His friend says, bringing up his hand. "So I'm not on your side."
"Some friend you are...well, I guess I'll take a break from trying to persuade her for now. " Sunohara said with a sigh.
"You're gonna continue? Besides, you're only going persuade her to report you for acting sketchy."
"Why don't you show me some support on this?!" Exclaimed Sunohara
"What is there to support? Did you not hear what she said to you?"
"But I still feel hope. A little hope can still go a long way..." Sunohara said with a passionate expression.
"You're really an optimist..." His friend sighed. "Wanna head to the cafeteria?"
"Sure."
Leaving the hall she had just met the two supposed delinquents, Sakura walked around, trying to find the cafeteria, to which she did. Entering it, she saw the line. It was somewhat long, but she went and waited anyway. After waiting long enough, she took what was left, which seemed to sweet bean bread, some sandwiches, and stuffed bread. She takes a few stuffed bread in a brown paper, bought a juice box and left to the courtyard where she proceeded to eat. Once the bell chimed to signal that lunch break was over. She made her way back to the classroom and took her seat at her desk. Students began to flood into the classroom, but none of them were Sunohara or his friend.
As most of the students came back into class, the class rep approached Sakura's desk. "Um..." she said softly.
"Uh, Fujibayashi, was it? You need something?"
"I was just wondering if you saw those two earlier." Ryou looks at the two empty desks. "I saw them talking to you earlier during lunch, so I assumed..."
"...I'm sorry, but I don't. That was pretty much it... After they talked to me at lunch, I haven't seen them since." Sakura explains.
"I see. Well thanks..." The class rep sighs and returned to her desk.
The last period of the day went on, and neither of the two showed up for class. As the clock hit 3:00, the bell chimed and it marked Sakura's first day at the school over. "Have a great day, everyone." The teacher said as he dismissed the class.
Sakura saw the students in the class beginning to leave and she then began to clear her own stuff as well. "Okay, time to head home." Sakura says under her breath. She took her bag and left the classroom. Once in the hall, she, much to her dismay, heard her name being called again.
"Hey, Kimura."
Sakura looked behind her and saw Sunohara. This time, his friend was not with him. "It's you again. Could you please not bother me?"
"Bothering you isn't my intention." The blonde said, walking up to her. "Helping you is."
"I don't I don't need help from someone like you."
"What's that supposed to mean?"
"It means what it means. Nothing more." Sakura utters and began walking away. Sunohara however, began to walk after her.
"Come on. You're new to this school, aren't you?" He said, walking up to the same pace as her. "Let me tour you around."
"Would you stop following me?"
"Don't be shy-"
"Hey, Youhei!" A shout echoed in the hall.
The two turned down the hall. Sakura saw a book fly towards Sunohara. It hit him right in the face and he ended up falling off his feet. "Eh?! What the...?!" Sakura exclaims in shock.
"Oww...!" Sunohara looked down the hall with a terrified look. "Crap, it's Kyou..."
Sakura saw her class rep, or rather someone who looked like her class rep walk towards the blonde guy. What made her different is that her hair was longer and well...she was less timid.
"I knew I was right!" The girl shouts at the blonde.
"Ahh, Kyou...!" Sunohara stood up and brought his hands up. "It's not-"
"What it looks like?" She finished his sentence and grabbed his tie aggressively. "I should really beat you down!"
"Why are you even here?"
"Ryou told me that you were bothering the new student and so here I am, and she was right after all. Not to mention that you and Tomoya were skipping classes!"
"I'm not trying to bother her!" He says in defense. "I'm just trying to help her. You know, like show her around?"
"Is this true?" She looks at Sakura.
"I don't think so..." Sakura responds.
"Well, even if you're trying to help, Youhei. I can tell you have some motive behind it." The purple haired girl releases his tie and folds her arms. "So don't even try it. Because if you do anything, Ryou will be blamed for it in the end, so just stop else I'll make it so that you'll have to stop." Her hands then turned into a fist.
"You're just as bothersome as you were in our second-year, huh?" Sunohara uttered.
The girl glared at him. "Huh? Did you say something? Say it again so that I can smack that annoying mouth of yours."
"Nothing. I apologize." Sunohara quickly says. He looks to Sakura and then back to Kyou. "So, Kyou, for starters, why not be friends with her?"
"Friends are not given. They're made." Kyou replies.
"Why must you sound reasonable now of all times?" Sunohara sighs. "Fine then. I might as we try the younger one. Where's Ryou?"
"Fortunately, she went on home. So you won't be able to bother her." Kyou looks at Sakura. "I'm Fujibayashi Kyou, the older twin sister of Fujibayashi Ryou, your class rep. Nice to meet you"
"Nice to meet you...?" Sakura greeted, confused. Just how can I be normal with what had just happened...?! she thought.
"And also, it's best to stay away from this blonde guy and his friend. They're bad influence and their idiocy will infect you, so take my advice and stay away from them." Saying that, the purple haired girl began walking away, taking the book she had thrown which was on the floor with her.
"She's such a savage..." Sunohara utters.
"...Twin sister?" Sakura looks at Sunohara.
"Yeah. As you can see she's a wild one." Sunohara said, fixing his tie. "Her sister, is much more tame and nice. So why don't I introduce her to you tomorrow?" He asks, turning to her.
"No. Why can't you take a hint that I don't want to you to help me, or talk to me." Sakura spouts and began walking down the hall and made her way to the staircase.
Once she walked down, past the school gate, she finds her cellphone ringing. "Hello?" She answers it and continues to walk down the school hill.
"How goes your first day of school?"
"It's been a rather good first day." Sakura said with a smile. "I like how it so far, but you know, since it's new, I'll just have to get used to it."
"That's great to hear. So have you tried talking to people?"
"Not really. Just for something quick, like a question or so." Sakura responds, looking back at the school. "And someone I want to avoid."
"Hm? What do you mean?"
"There's this flirty guy in my class. He's trying to tour me around the school and he's a real bother." Sakura explains, sighing. "But it's nothing to really worry about. I'll get through this year without trouble, I promise."
"I trust and hope that you will be fine."
"I will be fine. See you."
