Monarch Report: Titan Radiological Research

To Whom It May Concern:

With the recent re-emergence of the Titan/Kaiju and their presently peaceful co-existence with Humanity, greater research has been authorized and funded by the Monarch Society to study the affects of their radiological presence on the region. Please see attached files for specifics.

Proving once and for all our colleagues like Doctor Serizawa were correct in that the Titans were never a true threat to Humanity, simply a way of nature trying to reclaim and restore the planet that we have, in our haste, lack of foresight, and greed, brought to the brink of numerous extinction level events. Due to these recent developments, we have begun a closer study of the exact nature of the Titan's radioactivity. Under carefully controlled laboratory conditions, of course.

Freshly recruited following the Godzilla-MUTO incident in San Francisco, Doctor Shirigami is an expert on radiological effects on biology, specifically plant life. When the Titans were revealed to the public he was first on the scene to study both the damage and new life that had resulted following the incidents in Janjira, Honolulu, and San Francisco. His thesis on the restorative abilities of the Titans has been used numerous times by the committee in an attempt to curb hostile military behavior against the Kaiju/Titans.

Personal note: divorced from his ex-wife in 2014.

Personal note: his daughter Erika was critically injured in a car tragic accident late in 2017. She later expired en route to the nearest hospital.

Radiological Rose Records, Initial Report

Based on findings from the recently restored rain forests of the amazon, the radiation emitted by Titans seems to be, at its base form, largely harmless to human life. It dissipates almost an hour after a Titan's passing and seems to stimulate the growth and creation of new cells that revitalize dying plant life.

Several samples have been obtained from a collection of Godzilla's blood obtained during the recent 'Awakening' incident. Synthesizing the radiation artificially has proven difficult but with some luck we've managed to apply it to a number of healthy rose bushes to study how they will react.

Radiological Rose Records, Supplementary Report

Astonishing findings. The roses subjected to Titan radiation are growing at an accelerated rate. Twice now we've had to re-plant them in order to ensure they have suitable nutrients to survive. In the wild, such rapid spread of life could be more harmful than beneficial, given available resources. Doctor Shiragami's research is definitely a success, though it will take years to fully realize it's potential.

Unusual activity has been observed in the rose specimen #89. Unusual durability, but very little growth. It also seems to be showing signs of unusual genetic composition, possibly toxic. Termination was suggested, but Doctor Shiragami is unusually attached to specimen #89 and refuses to abort. Still, overall excellent progress. Finding submitted to the Monarch Public Committee for examination in detail.

Incident Report, Monarch Facility
Nevada, March 13th, 2019, 17:15pm

Reports of an intruder were filed by the night watch. Possible break-in discovered following an alarm in Laboratory where Project Biollante was being conducted. Nothing appears to have been stolen, all research is intact, and most of the rose samples are undisturbed. However, sample #89 is missing. It's container was completely shattered. Security footage reveals nothing untoward, it may have been tampered with.

Attempted recall of Doctor Shiragami to the scene failed. A subsequent attempt was made to find him at his current residence, but it was empty, possibly abandoned. Most of the doctor's personal effects were gone. His current whereabouts are unknown.

Curiously, the glass on the specimens container was broken out, as if from the inside. What this means is still unclear. Foresenic specialists are being called in to examine everything. Until then the entire laboratory is being classified above Top Secret and sealed off.

Monarch Report: Closing Thoughts

Just as with the advent of the ORCA system (see attached files), any attempt to harness the awesome power of nature is at best a double-edged sword. Titans are a personification of that, a power no man or woman can possibly hope to control, only understand and co-exist with.

As scientists, it is our duty to learn. Not to control, not to destroy, not to exploit. To expand our understanding of this beautiful world we live on.

Godzilla and our relationship with him is the personification of this. We still have much to learn about our new King, and we must be very careful how we do so. Thus far, we have been blessed (some might question this, but I believe things could have been far worse without the advent of Godzilla) and we must continue to make strides to improve on our co-existence, both with Godzilla and the other Titans. So the future will be bright, instead of dark.

Biollante's always been a favorite of mine, and I hoped to tribute her here. I doubt we'll ever see her in the Legendary Kaijuverse, but one can hope.
