Wow. Okay, so...um... Sorry? I know I haven't updated since like January, I think...or was it December? I don't even remember. I'm so, so sorry. I've been super busy with school this semester and I kind of got carried away with other ideas that wouldn't leave me alone...

Anyway, this is the very last chapter of this story! Thank you so much to everyone who reviewed and followed and favorited! This is actually the first successful multi-chap I've ever done, and I'm super proud of myself for actually finishing it. I hope you enjoy!

Caterine stumbled. Teleporting in mid-run had thrown her momentarily off balance. She righted herself quickly, however, and looked around. She was definitely in the Underneath somewhere. The room was huge, and Cat could see John and Molly still crouched on the floor on the other side of it, and Sherlock still sprawled on his back a few feet away from them.

"Now you have no where to run!" Adeline shrieked.

"And neither do you!" Caterine shot back, running at the mage.

Cat had the intent of snapping Adeline's neck but before she could she felt a small prick in the back of her neck. The blonde fell, and reached back to feel for the projectile. She pulled the dart out of her neck, wincing as the spiked sides of the needle ripped through her skin. The tip was still leaking with a clear liquid. Caterine realized what it was and glared up at Adeline, her vision beginning to blur around the edges.

"Oh, you took it out. I was planning on sending you to sleep for three days while the Congress approves my choice of punishment. Now you'll only be out for a few hours. Pity. That means you'll wake up just as I finish erasing the memories of your friends here." Adeline laughed at Caterine's furious face. "Oh please, they'll still remember you. They just won't remember you as they know you now. Their friend, failing to come to their rescue."

"I swear I'll kill you if it ends my immortality," Caterine growled.

"Not if I get to your memory first..."

That was the last thing Cat remembered before she blacked out. Her agent, her friend, threatening her and about to destroy her human friends. John and Molly had crawled over to Sherlock while Adeline was busy with Cat and had begun to check over him. He was bruised and cut and unconscious but he was going to be okay. He'd heal.

Caterine came back from her short stasis with a start. Panic fluttered through her chest and twisted her stomach in a knot. Her braid whipped around her head as she wildly searched for her three mortal friends. Adeline would have overpowered John in his weakened state, but Molly would have come first. Molly wasn't armed and she was weak to begin with. Humans aren't supposed to teleport. Out of all the mortals, humans are the most frail. They can't teleport well. It drains their strength and they're sometimes sick and they pass out half the time. Where were they-oh.

Adeline was just finishing with Molly. So she had woken up early, then. Cat watched as Adeline stood over the unconscious woman, swirling her hands through the bright cloud of luminescent memories. Images were brought up, changed, and replaced. As far as she could tell, Adeline wasn't concerned about doing damage to Molly or her memories. The mage finished and swirled the cloud back into Molly's head. Then she turned to John. He was foolishly pointing his gun at her.

"No, you surprise her with it, not...stupid man," Cat groaned under her breath.

Adeline yanked away the gun and grabbed either side of his head. John's eyes rolled back and he collapsed to the floor. The cloud of memories rushed forth. Cat could see where patches of dark storm shone through the white. Adeline flipped through, fixed what needed to be fixed, and then with a smile, clapped her hands. The dark memories bled into the white until the majority of John's memory cloud was a raging storm. War trauma, Cat realized. Adeline was bringing the suppressed memories back to the forefront of his mind. The cloud settled back into John, and Adeline strode over to Sherlock, her heels clicking.

When the memory cloud was gathered up, Caterine was saddened by how dull and gray it was. Sherlock was sad. Lonely. He had John and Mrs. Hudson and Molly but he was different than them. It was with Sherlock that Adeline caused the most damage. She switched out happy memories of his time with Cat to fabricated ones where she was hurting him in some way. Her vampire ways were erased, and replaced with a cold harshness that Cat knew she never treated him with. A flash of green came up in a place hidden away from the mage's view. Cat focused in on it and saw information running across the splash of color. Information about her. Sherlock knew what was happening. Adeline, stupid sorceress she was, hadn't bothered to suppress his subconscious as she had with John and Molly. He was already out, and Adeline must not have found any reason to waste time furthering his unconsciousness. Hopefully Sherlock's brilliant mind would save him.

Adeline swirled the cloud back into Sherlock, and then teleported the trio back to the Above. At least, that's what Cat assumed. And then she walked towards the vampire.

"Now. Caterine. What is stopping me from killing you right here? You're weakened from your two-hour long stasis, and you've just seen me destroying your relationships with your friends. I could easily conjure up a fire and watch as-"

"But you won't," Cat interrupted. "You're too afraid. I can smell it. You're afraid of what the Congress will do to you if your murdered me."

"What are you-"

"That's your greatest fear, isn't it?" Caterine whispered. "Breaking the Treaty and having to answer for it. How many times have you done something and gotten away with it? More than you can count, isn't that right? But now you're afraid. You know I can outsmart you and outrun you. I could turn you in."

Adeline looked stunned as she stared down at Caterine. She recovered, however, and held up a glass tube Cat knew was filled with a clear liquid. Stasis-inducing serum.

"You're right," the mage said. "I can't kill you. But I can force you into stasis."

AND THAT'S IT! Thanks again for all your support! And yes, I'll have a sequel ready at some point, I guess. I have to find it though...I know I started one, but it hasn't been touched in a long time. Sorry again about the ridiculously long wait, and I will see you again for the sequel!
