Shion was completely engrossed in a copy of Shakespeare's play, "Romeo and Juliet", his face showing all the emotions he was feeling as he read. Nezumi knew that Shion would never have been allowed to read something like that when he lived in No.6, so it was interesting to watch him read a romantic tragedy even though it definitely wasn't one of Nezumi's favourites.
Nezumi still had his own book in his lap but it had long been forgotten. He was watching Shion absentmindedly, a small smile threatening to crawl it's way onto his face. Shion was nearing the end, and he had a hand covering his mouth in a mixture of shock and sadness.
Placing the book down on the bed, Nezumi sat next to Shion on the floor, placing his chin on Shion's shoulder. He was reading Romeo's death in Act 5.
"O my love, my wife/ Death, that hath sucked the honey of thy breath/ Hath had no power yet upon thy beauty," Nezumi began to read, gently taking the book from Shion's hands. Shion allowed it, leaning his head against Nezumi's, closing his eyes. White strands of hair tickled Nezumi's face.
"Thou art not conquered/ beauty's ensign yet/ Is crimson in thy lips and in thy cheeks/ And Death's pale flag is not advancèd there," Nezumi continued, putting as much emotion as he believed Romeo would have felt into his words.
"Here's to thy love! O true apothecary!/ Thy drugs are quick," he finished the speech, making the last line quieter, "Thus with a kiss I die."
As gently as he said the last line, he placed a kiss on Shion's cheek, letting himself enjoy the company of his own Juliet. All he could hope for was that their story didn't end as a tragedy too.
I'm listening to Nezushi fanmixes again and I had Romeo and Juliet next to me at my desk, so I felt it necessary to write another really short one-shot. I hope you liked it!
