Mrs. Paddington was like many of the other teachers at Winsdor Prep Academy for Girls: tired, jaded, and so completely over-done with the 9-11 year old age bracket who treated Winsdor as a necessary evil while awaiting their letter from Hogwarts, Beauxbatons, Salem Institute, and schools of that ilk for over three decades.

She was not alone in secretly disliking those whom they serviced. Hell, most of their own parents didn't even like them at this age!

But there was a pair in the senior class that couldn't escape notice from even the most jaded of faculty. Even the generally cynical Mrs. Paddington was a loss to describe the equally talented but stunningly different witches so infamous they were on a first name recall.

Lene and Leu.

Formally known to the world at large as Apollene Black Delacour and Lucinda Minerva Black.

The former, Apollene, was the most respectful witch you could hope to meet; and gorgeous, as per her Veela heritage. However, she did not brag; rather she was quite shy about her looks, if anything. Modest, introspective, intelligent, and beautiful…she very similar to her Aunt, Hermione; and much less reminiscent of her fiery, brazen Auror mother that Fleur Delacour had become.

The latter girl was Lene's polar opposite. Leucinda, the actual biological daughter of the Senior Undersecretary of Magic, Hermione Granger Black, couldn't be less like her if were her job. At present, , she was sitting across the room, staring at her cousin, intently. Fierce, gorgeous, and a real prolicivility towards detention, she had seemingly spudded off of Bellatrix directly.

The dark witch seemed generally annoyed with the world at large, and especially her cousin, Lene, who so obviously adored her. Leucinda was listening to Lene recount her summer science project about how to "neutralize" a dementor without using a Protego spell. As magic was expressly forbidden in those under 11 years of age, it was good to have an alternative to a spell, anyway.

It was actually quite a genius idea, really.

She postulated that if one breeded the most annoyingly happy-natured creature, which she had coined the "Hinky Pinky Puff" and cohorted them together, their ying and yang would eventually "neutralize" each other, menacing no one further. She even went so far to reason that the dementor was merely tormented because it had lost "its other half."

She showed her painstaking notes that were verified by her famous mother's signature, none other than Auror Team One member, Agent Fleur Delacour. She left the room, to go get her demonstration. The room twittered with nerves at the thought they would come face to face with the dreaded Dementor; what if it didn't have a lasting transformation, as she claimed?

In all the hubris as Lene left to retrieve her science project for the lab practical demonstration, hardly anyone noticed the disappearance of three of the girls in the back row, and a fourth shortly thereafter.

XOXOXOXOXOXOX

Lene was humming as she walked from the Care of Magical Creatures area where her cage had sat awaiting "showtime." As she rounded the bend to head back to her classroom, she didn't see the rope that tightened at her feet as a trip wire; held on each end by a ugly natured girl, with the ugliest standing over them, a malevolent grin lighting her face as she supervised.

Cassandra Snoofly, daughter of Emmanuanel Snoofly, who held the distinction of being the royal pain in Hermione's ass in her tenure as Senior Undersecretary.

As they tightened the rope, ready to upend the unexpectant Veela, a voice rang out in the clearing, loud as thunder:

"Petrificus Totalis!"

All three girls fell to the dirt, face first. Apollene squealed out in shock, and quickly went to a defensive stance, unaware of the attacker's identity. She relaxed slightly as she saw the black curls emerge from her vantage point.

"Mon Dieu! Cousin! Vat iz zis?" She asked, shocked.

Leu strode past her, practically ignoring her question, instead walking to the ringleader of the group. Leu kicked her over and leaned over to stare her straight in the face.

"Really, Snoofly?" Growled the black haired terror. "Did you really think you would get away with tripping up my cousin? And what if she dropped the dementor? Are you going to pick it up?

Leucinda kicked dirt in the direction of her face. "You're too much of a pussy...you better leave the crap to those who know how to pull it off, loser! No one fucks with my cousin...except me, that is!" As she turned her back to walk away, the hairs on her neck stood up.

Cassandra had wormed out of her spell, somehow, and had whipped something towards her! Before she could duck, she heard another voice, clearly intoning a spell.

"PROTEGO!"

She felt the clang! of the dagger as it bounce off the protective shell her cousin had just cast to defend her. Shocked, Leu looked up to see a smug appearing Lene, having just cast a perfect Protego spell at just the right time. A shocked Snoofly looked as though she had just seen a ghost; but it was worse. She had spotted none other than Mrs. Paddington marching towards them, furious.

"To the common room! Now!" She hollered, in no uncertain terms.

Quickly Lene glanced into her cage. The frighted baby dementor was clutching to the equally frightened fuzzy Hinky Pinky Puff, and they were both shaking. "Mon adorable petit infants," cooed the Veela, reassuringly. "it iz alright! You are safe!"

They looked at her, still shaking.

"Would you like some chocolate?" She said.

They both nodded "yes" furiously, and she handed them each a bar, as she picked them up and started walking. She couldn't help but chuckle as she listened to the grumbling and profanity coming from up ahead, from her larger-than-life cousin with the wild black hair.

XOXOXOXO

The were met in the common room, by a visitor, with concerned eyes. She cleared her throat. "Well, as with all things to do with the Black family, I find that I have good news and bad news..."

Despite the severity of her voice, her eyes were twinkling and kind. Plus, it didn't hurt that she was the namesake of the rebellious dark haired witch, either.

She looked at them severely. "Don't think it escaped my attention that you have in both of your possessions, illegal equipment for underage wizards; if I am not mistaken," she looked at Lucinda as she spoke, "you have in your possession a 12 ¾" walnut-constructed wand, with a dragon heartstring core, correct?"

The dark witch nodded uncomfortably. "Yes, it was my-

"-Your mother's. I'm very well aware of Bella's first wand, my dear." She turned her gaze next to Lene, who was cooing and shushing the alarmed pair in her cage, calming them with lullabies. "And, yours, my dear, I couldn't help but notice the 10 3/4" vine wand of yours, also with a dragon heartstring core."

"Yes..." Lene said, nervously.

"Your aunt's wand, correct?"

"Oui."

Minerva McGonagall nodded her head. "Very impressive use of magic, considering you are both underage and not even versed in any formal schooling involving spell work."

They looked at their feet, nervously, knowing exactly how much trouble they were in... a tremendous amount. Headmistress McGonagall continued to speak. "So, as it always seems to be with the Black family, allow me to personally extend to you, your formal invitation to Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, starting this fall."

They both let out an excited squeal, and unthinkingly, jumped up and hugged each other.

"However, for your unauthorized use of Magic, I will have to deduct 100 house points from your future houses, whatever they will be..."

They broke apart, looking shocked. 100 house points? Leu's older brothers had kept her abreast of the tight house cup standings, an 100 points would be a death wish! Lene's little pets sensed her distress and they started fasciculating in their cage, upset.

Minerva added, "However, for your correct application of the aforementioned spells at such a prodigiously young age, I have to award your future houses an additional 60 points and another 20 for the loyalty and love demonstrated towards a family member. Leave no man behind, remember..."

They nervously looked at each other, as Leu made a scoffing noise in her throat, attempting to put some distance between herself and her beautiful cousin.

"And furthermore..."Minerva stopped her speech cold. "Oh, dear!" She looked down, alarmed. "Ms. Delacour, it appears your baby dementor and baby Hinky Pinky Puff are ...kissing."

"Ew!" Grumbled Leucinda, still reeling from the assertion she loved her cousin!

The Veela merely shrugged. "Eh? It is just the ying and ze yang of it all. It was an inevitability, I zink..." Lene said, resigned.

Minerva nodded, a peculiar look on her face. "Indeed. These things happen, ying and yang…." She smiled. "Well, ladies, allow me to be the first to say...welcome to Hogwart's!"

END.
