A/N: So I think I set a new record for longest time not posting chapter, smh.

My college days are winding down, so it's been really hectic.

That said, here's the next installment. Hope you guys enjoy and thank you all for your continued support despite my HORRENDOUS update schedule.

Chapter 20: Lasting Tragedy

Timmy flung open the master bedroom's door, no longer caring if any of those shadow beings were still lingering around in the house. His parents, the very reason they were here in the first place, were outside in a car wreck, about to experience a painful and undignified death to the horrors closing in on them. If he could do something, anything, to prevent that, he thought, then he'd do it.

Consequences be damned.

"Timmy, where are you going?!" Trixie questioned, baffled by the brunet's irrational behavior.

Hearing her call out to him, he hesitantly paused at the doorway. However, unable to think straight and realizing he didn't have the time to answer, he sped right through the hallway towards the stairs. Perplexed further by this, the Asian teen stood there. Though barely a second after, she reluctantly decided to chase him down. She may not have known what exactly had gotten into Timmy, but what she was certain of is that his behavior would put them in more danger than they were already in.

Trailing him from behind, she followed him down the stairs and towards the front door, lunging to grab him by the arm. However, Timmy, being faster, managed to stay ahead causing her to just barely miss him. He bolted straight through the door, right into the open and back into the very chaos they were trying to escape. Trixie continued behind, not having much of a choice but to stop her boyfriend from getting killed. Re-entering the war zone, the Asian girl tried to refrain herself from freezing up upon seeing the otherworldly beings converging on the car crash. They were only about seventy feet away, and though they were pre-occupied, that still didn't make the threat they posed any less severe. With that in mind, Trixie began sprinting at full speed.

Meanwhile, Timmy could feel his heart racing as he ran down the street. He knew Trixie was chasing him and was in serious dangerous thanks to his carelessness, but that did little to slow him down. After all, he wasn't exactly in the most stable-state of mind.

Viciously racing on the paved asphalt, he spotted about a dozen of the shadow-like monsters surroundings the car, including one that was taller than any of the houses in the neighborhood. Seeing this, it was at this point did Timmy start to have some second thoughts about coming out here. He still didn't know what to do, and him becoming intimidated by how vicious and enormous the demoneqsue figures were even when they still hadn't noticed him only damaged his already faltered bravery. Nonetheless, he continued to run, coming to within thirty feet of his target when he saw something that caused his blood to turn cold. His world suddenly stopped, and he watched in horror as he saw both his mom and dad being lifted up by the giant shadow creature he had noted earlier.

The very thing he wanted to prevent unfolding in front of his very eyes, Timmy was filled with a variety of emotions. He couldn't believe what he was seeing, and he began running faster thinking that maybe there was still a chance to save his parents. Unfortunately, he was still too far to do anything, and soon the realization of what was about to occur to his mom and dad began to hit him. He wanted to make a wish to stop the inevitable from materializing, but he knew that his godparents were currently incapable of granting such a request.

Feeling powerless, Timmy began to feel his heart sink, and with all his might he called out to his parents.

"MOM, DAD!"

Right when he said that, his parents looked to towards the direction of the voice and made eye contact with their son one last time. He could see their mouths move, but he couldn't hear them. However, he could still make out their final message.

Timmy, run!

A second after they said that, he could see the monster holding his parents tighten its grip around them, crushing their bodies and then vaporizing them with an electrical charge. What were once his parents were transformed into nothing more than ash that blew in the wind. It was like they were erased from existence. Witnessing this, Timmy began heaving and stopped running before he collapsed onto his knees onto the ground and glared into the sky. Everything around him began spinning as the indisputable fact that his parents were gone began to stab into his heart like a dagger. His pain was only made worse when he also remembered that the conversation Trixie encouraged him to have with parents would now never occur.

In other words, he would no longer the chance to mend his relationship with them, and that killed him.

A mixture of horror, sadness, and anger overcame him so intensely that it made him completely shocked and numb. However, seconds after he started to become engulfed by his own emotions, he felt Trixie's hand touch him. She quickly forced him up, grabbing his hand and forcing him to run with her. Though she didn't say a word about what just transpired, Trixie saw the whole thing. Of course she felt bad, but she knew now was not the time to grieve.

Right now, they had to escape while they still had the chance.

Whilst they both ran, Timmy looked back at the creatures, whom were slowly noticing them. He then narrowed his eyes on the nightmare that murdered his parents - it's purple and haunting eyes looking right back at him, as if to pierce his soul.

This was a day that would etch itself into Timmy's memory forever, and change his and even Trixie's future indefinitely.

Once more, the couple found themselves trying to escape a suburb in ruins. Though they had temporarily escaped from the clutches of death, the same couldn't be said for Timmy's parents. The two high school students were traumatized watching them murdered in front of their very own eyes; and not just murdered, but crushed and incinerated too. The very same people they came to rescue, no, the very same people who loved and brought Timmy into the world were dead.

Clearly, this struck the brunet more than it hurt Trixie, but that still didn't mean she couldn't help but feel saddened at this grim truth. After all, she never really got to meet the parents of the boy who'd done so much for her. But even then, despite the negative things Timmy spoke about his parents, the fact that he protected and was so respectful towards her said something about the way they raised him - and for that she thanked them, even if she would never get to say those words to their face.

She briefly looked back at Timmy, noting how eerily empty his eyes were. For somebody who just lost his parents, he was strangely calm. Then again, she was aware that people often times reacted differently to death. Perhaps he was in denial, maybe overwhelmed with emotions such as sadness or anger, or maybe a combination of all the things listed. However, while she couldn't read what he was feeling, one thing she was certain of was that this would change Timmy - and that frightened her.

Maintaining a sprint-like running speed, Trixie refocused on trying to get the both of them to safety. If only her and Timmy didn't lose their phones when they got into their car accident, she thought, then maybe she could've called for the bodyguards her dad had sent earlier to aid with this process. Although even that wouldn't guarantee their survival, it would've at least been a better alternative when compared to what they were dealing with now.

Much to her dismay, despite being sure that they were travelling farther away from the perceived epicenter of today's tragedy, it didn't seem like the chaos around them was getting any less visible. If anything, it intensified. This was a frightening indication that those shadow-beings had advanced farther into the suburbs, and perhaps, god forbid, beyond. It didn't make her feel any better seeing fresh signs of fighting between those monstrosities and the military either. On edge, Trixie began to run even faster while tugging Timmy behind her to do the same. However, that momentum was suddenly shattered when the very same person she was trying to escape with let go of her hand and stopped. Nonplussed by this action, Trixie stopped as well and turned back to speak to her boyfriend.

"Timmy, what are you doing?" She questioned urgently.

"They're dead, Trixie... they're both dead." He muttered, just standing there with his empty eyes wandering off into the distance.

Trixie, on the other hand, sensing his sudden shift in behavior and knowing who he was talking about right off the bat, immediately paced towards him to both comfort him and to get him to keep moving. While she was more sympathetic to the loss of his parents, right now wasn't the time for him to lose his cool. Coming to within a few feet away from him, she called out his name and reached for him.

"Timmy-"

"Don't touch me."

He blurted, causing an already frightened girl to irk her hand back. A still silence then lingered between them, amplifying the distant sounds of turmoil erupting all around Dimmsdale. Trixie, stunned by her boyfriend's passive-aggressive gesture, was about to speak again. That was, until Timmy spoke first.

"I-I didn't mean to come off like that. I just can't believe that they're gone. If I was just there earlier, maybe I could've-"

He closed his eyes, fighting back tears.

"I could've saved them."

She'd never seen him in so much hurt, and knowing that there was not much she could do to ease that pain hurt her. She placed both of her hands on his shoulders, and spoke to him with a gentle voice.

"...I can't imagine what pain you're going through, but at least know know you did all you could've to try and save them. I know that's difficult for you to accept, but given our, circumstances you have to. Grieving over this now will only slow you down and get you killed, and that's not what your parents would want. I'm sorry, Timmy... I really am, but we need to keep going."

Timmy, looking down into her eyes, was about to protest. But as much as he wanted to believe he could've done more to save his parents, he knew deep down inside that there wasn't. Trixie was right. At this moment, anger and hate towards these hellish beings began to swell up. Yet, as much as he wanted to make them pay for what they did, but realistically, he knew he couldn't. He didn't have the power to. They were hopeless against the powers that be, and even his fairies, whom were still disguised as objects in his pocket, could do nothing.

The realization striking him, he gazed away from Trixie before making eye contact once more. Though now somber, he nodded at Trixie, signalling her that he was ready to continue forward. Seeing this, the girl returned the gesture. However, just as they were about to resume their escape to safety, the house next to them on the right was demolished, forcing them to run onto the street to avoid being injured. Debris avalanched onto the street, and what emerged from the rubble was one of those monsters, one that was nearly the same size as the one that killed Timmy's parents. Almost immediately the being spotted them; it's purple eyes marking them with the inescapable glare of death.

Trixie instantly panicked and immediately grabbed Timmy's hand and started running off with him. She ran the opposite direction of the giant beast, but stopped in the middle of the road when she found that there were already several shadow-creatures coming through the houses up ahead and straight for them. She turned to her sights to up and down the road, only to conclude that they were surrounded on all directions. Seeing that they were boxed in, Trixie began to hyperventilate. They had nowhere to run and no where to hide, and having no means by which to defend themselves with, they were sitting ducks. Despite having just given Timmy a pep talk about staying alive, given this unfortunate development, she couldn't deny that their probability of surviving was virtually zero. Not able to figure out a way out of this, she huddled closer to Timmy.

Sensing the girl's anxiety, the brunet looked at her and then back at the beings about to rip them apart. Still, scared as he was for his own life, what concerned him the most was the notion of Trixie losing hers. Just imagining her life being snuffed out at the hands of the very same creatures that murdered his parents was extremely upsetting. With that in mind, he examined their surroundings, desperately trying to find a way to save them from this ordeal. Yet, unlike their last encounter with these things, there wasn't anything around them that could save them now.

As much as he wished he could do something, he knew he couldn't.

The creatures closing in, Timmy began to accept their fate. He pulled Trixie into his arms, and she snuggled her face into the crevice between his neck and shoulder. Proceeding this, he put his hands in his pocket, bringing up his disguised godparents as to say good bye to them one final time. However, as soon as he was done with this, he made eye contact with Trixie. While she wasn't crying, he could tell she was afraid, and that broke him because he there was absolutely nothing he could do to change that.

Not only did he lose his parents today, but soon his godparents, his life, and her.

In short, he would lose everything.

Timmy held onto Trixie tighter figuring that this was the last time they would be together. Helplessly, he watched one of the smaller creatures advance to within five feet of them. It growled at them, showing it's countless dagger like teeth. It then lunged forward towards them, causing Timmy to prepare for a painful death and to close his eyes.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Spontaneously, he heard what sounded like gunshots being shot from one of the rooftops. He opened his eyes, seeing bright blue streaks hit the shadow-like beings all around them. They let out a deafening screech, their bodies exploding with a bright light before what appeared to be the dark matter that composed their existence evaporated straight into thin air. Bewildered, Timmy scanned around them, searching for the direction where the odd projectiles came from. Yet, immediately proceeding this, he became distracted by an oversized hand reaching for them. Though their other pursuers were exterminated somehow, the titan variant that destroyed an entire house just by passing through it was still alive and well.

Still in danger, Timmy was about to run with Trixie until another unexpected event occurred to them.

Right when they were about to turn away, a young female with strawberry blonde spontaneously zoomed right in between them and the shadow monstrosity's hand. Before he even could process what was happening, the mysterious girl instantly drew what appeared to be a sword that was emitting a blue glow from her waist and, with no hesitation, chopped the fingers off of the beings hands. Enraged by this, the savage beast let out a shriek and diverted all its attention on the girl that wounded it. In the blink of an eye, it used its other hand to snatch the strange girl, but then she quickly jumped out of the way before cutting off its other hand. Having dodged its attack and incapacitated her opponent, the young female used what appeared to be thrusters to boost herself right up towards the creatures neck. Then, with one swift blow from her sword, she cut straight through its neck. The now nearly decapitated giant collapsed backwards onto the ground, and just like it's smaller counterparts, dissolved into nothing.

Trixie and Timmy stared at each other, utterly speechless.

Meanwhile, with any immediate threats eliminated, the person who rescued them gracefully landed on the ground and placed her peculiar sword back into a sheath on her waist. Following this, she turned back, and that's when things got a whole lot crazier for the two. It was already difficult for them to comprehend that somebody was capable of single-handedly taking out something of that size and power - but having it done by somebody they knew? Hardly believing his own eyes, Timmy was the first to speak.

"... Missy?" He asked, completely astounded.

The girl nodded, her facial expressions indicating a solemn mood.

"But how?" The brunet added.

"It's a long story. But right now, we need to get the both of you to safety." She said in a stern voice.

Confused by Missy's last sentence, Trixie abruptly spoke.

"We, what do you mean by-"

However, before she could say anymore, three people wearing the same uniform and wielding identical equipment to Missy jumped onto the scene. Caught off guard by this, Timmy and Trixie both looked at each other. Seeing that Missy was part of a team rather than a lone-wolf only added to the already long list of questions they had concerning today.

The vehicle they were riding was similar to the armored personal carriers used by the military. The interior consisted of two sets of seats lining each side, with Trixie and Timmy sitting on the opposite side of one of Missy's strange accomplices. In the middle was a narrow walk way, and located in the front was the driver and Missy, as well as another individual who was in a seat situated just behind the driver who appeared to be remotely operating something - presumably the machine gun that they noted was on the top of the eight-tired vehicle. While all of this did created for a cramped and uncomfortable environment, the couple would've much preferred this over continuing to run around through the hostile-ridden streets.

Finally safe, at least for the moment, Timmy sat there quietly.

From what they were told, they would be headed to a secured camp on the outskirts of the city, but no other details were disclosed to them. Nonetheless, it was obvious that the city was still very much in disarray, and judging by the ambiance coming from outside, it didn't seem like that would change any time soon. The sound of explosions, gunfire, and jets caused by the military zooming overhead were clear as day, and every so often he would hear the shrieks of those monsters - the very same ones that murdered his parents.

This thought re-entering his mind, Timmy sulked into his seat. He had already accepted this depressing reality, but the repercussions of witnessing his own parents killed continued to get worse. Now that they were relatively secure, he couldn't help but find the images of his parents being turned into nothing more than ash replay in his mind constantly, to the point where it felt like it would drive him to the brink of insanity.

Trixie, sensing Timmy becoming overburdened by his own thoughts, gently placed her hand over his. She knew there was little she could do to quarrel his saddened state, but the least she could do was remind him that she was there for him. That wasn't to say Trixie wasn't also shaken by what just unfolded, but she wasn't the one who lost her parents. Nonetheless, while she couldn't begin to imagine the pain he was feeling, that wasn't to say she couldn't empathize with him.

Today was a day of tragedy, there was no doubt about that.

Looking out the small window of the armored vehicle they were riding, the Asian teen sighed. It was still difficult to fathom what was taking place all around them. After all, who would've thought a portal that led to god knows where would end up in the middle of their quiet little city, allowing monsters of unknown origin to reign death and destruction upon the land? No one could've predicted what was happening today, let alone even think such a disaster of this nature and magnitude was even possible.

Or at least that's what she initially thought.

Missy and her squad mates seemed to be specifically equipped and trained to take down these shadow-like creatures, and she had a hunch that this was no coincidence. Realizing on this, she re-directed her focus towards the very people that saved them. Though Missy and the other strange individuals had said almost nothing to them about who sent them or what they knew about the events of today, Trixie was able to gather some information about their saviors just by what they were wearing.

Missy's apparent team consisted of three of other males, all whom were probably around the same age as her. Judging by the way they were dressed and their equipment, these people were part of a larger organization - one that was militaristic in structure. However, it was doubtful that these guys were part of the U.S military, let alone from any other known military in the world. Their uniforms made that apparent, composing of a white shirt and royal blue pants that was complimented by a short black jacket, knee and elbow pads, and black tactical gloves and boots. They also were wearing what appeared to be an exo-skeleton suit of some sort, yet it didn't seem like the ones Trixie had read in any articles that were currently in development. These versions appeared to be much more advanced than those, being so much more concise and slick that they molded perfectly onto each person wearing them. Trixie summarized that this, in addition to some kind of propulsion system that was located somewhere on the back of the suit, is what allowed Missy to move so quickly. A strap lined each of their waste, carrying a holster for what was presumably a hand gun, and a tactical scabbard that held their strange swords. There was also, from what Trixie made out to be, a high-tech rifle of some sorts held by a strap on their backs. Additionally, there was a small, golden symbol embroiled on the shoulder of all their uniforms; a shield that was crossed by two wands. This caught Trixie's eyes, because it clearly represented whatever organization they came from.

Noting this, Trixie wiggled her hand that was still on-top of Timmy's to get his attention.

"Have you ever seen that insignia anywhere?" She whispered lowly, discretely nodding her to where she wanted Timmy's attention to be.

Broken out of his trance, Timmy's eyes veered to the direction Trixie wanted him to look at, spotting the very same peculiar insignia she was mystified by. Analyzing the strange symbol himself, he, just like Trixie, deduced that it was a representation of the organization Missy and her apparent team mates were apart of. However, unlike Trixie, Timmy was able to interpret the symbol and see that the this mysterious organization was probably related to the fairies.

Those two wands were too familiar, and there was little doubt in his mind that they were there by mere coincidence.

But how was that possible? From his understanding, the only people who knew and were allowed to even know about the existence fairies were the children who had them as godparents. Never once did Jorgan Von Strangle or the Council, for that matter, mention their race being tied to a paramilitary group made up of humans. Curiosity prevailing, Timmy was about to speak for the first time since they boarded the vehicle. However, that was abruptly put on hold when the vehicle made a sudden stop.

Confused, Timmy spoke up.

"Why are we stopping?" He inquired, wondering why they were stopping in the middle of a danger zone.

Missy stood up, reaching for the rifle on her back and heading towards the backdoor of their armored truck.

"We're picking up our captain. He was sent ahead to clear a path to the camp. He radioed in to tell us to rendezvous with him here."

"Captain?"

She nodded, before turning her attention to the individual just behind the driver who was manning the remote-controlled machine gun that was located on top of the vehicle.

"Is it the surrounding area clear, Aven?"

The black haired male, probably around age nineteen, nodded.

"All clear."

"Good. Edmund, open the back doors."

The red-haired young man nodded, pressing a button located on the dashboard.

"Conner, you come with me. We'll go out to make sure nothing creeps up on us and to provide the captain assistance should he need it."

Standing up, stretching his arms to grab his rifle and beginning to follow Missy, Conner rolled his eyes at the last part of her sentence.

"Our captain, need help? Please."

He walked down the narrow aisle of the vehicle slowly, before glimpsing at Timmy and Trixie with his light brown eyes. Though he didn't say any words, Timmy could tell that the young man felt one thing towards him.

Sympathy.

"Say, Missy. What do you think is going to happen now? I mean... all these civilian deaths, all this destruction. There hasn't been a Shadow Roamer outbreak this big, let alone in a city."

Miss, just about to step out of the truck, paused.

"...I don't know, Conner. But right now we should be only be focused on the orders given to us. Any decisions regarding the aftermath of today lie solely with our superiors, not us."

He nodded, smoothing back his dark brown hair.

Timmy, overhearing this conversation that was indirectly aimed at him and Trixie, found himself deep in thought. Shadow Roamers, so that's what these beasts were called. It was a fitting name given their appearance.

Meanwhile, Conner and Missy waited outside for their captain - their guns sheathed and prepared for any hostiles that may come for them. However, five minutes passed, and still no sign of this 'captain'. Tenseness began to rise within the vehicle, and even Missy began to display signs of being worried.

"Where is your, um, captain. Shouldn't he be here by now?" Trixie questioned from inside the armored vehicle, becoming increasingly more anxious the longer they remained still.

"He should-"

Before the strawberry blonde could say another word, very distinct shrieks could be heard just down the block from them. Conner and Missy, already on high alert, placed their rifles back onto their backs and put their hands on the hilt of their swords.

"Roamer, a big one judging by that noise." Conner muttered to himself.

"Sounds like there's more than just one too." Missy added, her grip around the hilt of her sword tightening.

"Edmund and Aven, keep the engine running. If the situation gets too hot, we're leaving. We'll tell the captain another location to rendezvous at."

Her two team mates acknowledged her request, ready to take off at a moments notice. On the other hand, Timmy and Trixie continued to sit, not able to do anything except hope for the best.

Several long seconds past, and then that's when three Shadow Roamers, about forty feet in height, emerged from down the road. They stood there for a moment, until they spotted the small group. Instantaneously, the giants quickly began making their way towards them, and at a speed that was considered fast considering their size.

"Crap... there's no way we can out run those guys. Eventually they'll catch up. We have to take them out." Missy stated.

Conner agreed, and they both sheathed their swords - their blue luminescence bouncing off their faces.

As soon as the Shadow Roamers got closer, the two ran towards them, splitting off and using their boosters to jump onto the roof of the houses. They were moving in complete sync, which was an indicator to both Trixie and Timmy that this group had been doing this sort of thing for a very long time. However, just before Conner and Missy could go in for the kill, somebody else - presumably from the same organization as them - darted into the scene in midair and right behind the Shadow Roamers. Whoever this person was slashed behind the necks of two of the Roamers, killing them instantly. Now on the paved road, this same individual ran towards, using his thrusters to dart right under the last beast and cutting both of its heels in one motion with his sword. The beast fell onto the ground face front, and that's when the mysterious figure went in for the final blow. His target laid out on the road, he ran onto the creature, and thrust his sword straight into the back of the creature's head. The fiend, previously crying out it agony, fell silent.

Triumphant, the blond jumped off the dissolving remains of the Roamer.

Timmy and Trixie, watching all of this happen, were in awe. They were already impressed too see Missy take down such a creature, but to see somebody solo three?

"Captain!"

The two heard Missy calling, seeing her jump down from the roof to meet the young blond. Conner soon did the same. They watched as the three had what appeared to be discussion before they turned to head to the truck. However, as soon as they did that, the couple were once again in for another surprise.

This 'captain', like Missy, was somebody they both also knew.

The trio soon made their way into the vehicle, and to say that Trixie and Timmy had a million questions buzzing in their heads was an understatement.

"Remy Buxaplenty."

Timmy muttered, shocked that his ex-rival was the captain Missy had be referring to. The blond stopped dead in his tracks, making direct eye contact with the baffled teen.

"Timmy Turner." He paused and briefly glanced at Trixie. "And Trixie Tang... what a surprise. It's been while, and I wouldn't doubt if you both have a bit of animosity towards me. So, to address the elephant in the room and to prevent those said feelings from somehow endangering us all, let's settle this right here and now. I'm not the same person you knew me as, and I have no ill-feelings towards either of you - especially you, Timmy."

Trixie and, particularly, Timmy, didn't know what to say to Remy's blunt words. They didn't expect him to be so upfront. Yet, just he suggested, he wasn't coming off as the spoiled brat they'd known him to be in the past. Strange as it may be, he seemed to me more mature and serious; almost too serious.

"Now that I've gotten that out of way, I have some important matters to tell you. I was going to wait on telling this until we got back to camp, but judging by how confused you all are, I figure it's better to tell all of this now. So, first things first..."

He relaxed himself into a seat across from them.

"...we're going to offering you a chance to be recruited into our organization."

Recruited?

Timmy and Trixie both thought, looking at each other in confusion.

"Recruited into what? You haven't even told us exactly what you're recruiting us into." Timmy inquired.

Expecting such a question, Remy stretched in his seat and relaxed himself before speaking.

"The Shield Corps. That's the name of the organization we're apart of. Short description of the Shield Corps is we work directly under the Fairy Council and that it is our job to protect humanity from magical deviations that the Fairies can't."

"Fairies? Fairy Council? Magical deviations?" Trixie thought aloud, unsure if she heard Remy right.

"Oh, yes. I forgot... you don't know anything about this. Well, I guess I'll give you a run down now. But be warned, what you hear will probably sound crazy."

Forming an explanation, the blond spoke.

"The Fairies are a powerful humanoid race, whom are governed by a body comprised of four of the most powerful fairies known as the Fairy Council. Fairies posses an astronomical amount of power, including shape-shifting, teleportation, and most notable of all, the ability to grant wishes. Your boyfriend knows all about this since, after all, he does have a pair of them."

He gestured towards the school supplies resting in his pockets. Hearing this, the young Asian looked to her boyfriend, her eyes begging for answers.

Timmy was speechless. He glared at Remy, whom seem to care little of what he just did. He literally just revealed Timmy's secret in such an an anti-climatic manner that it felt surreal. This was certainly unexpected, and now whether or not he could keep his godparents and what effect this would have on his relationship became a very real source of uncertainty. It didn't help that everything else from today was stressing him out as well.

"Timmy, is this-"

Timmy, seeing that there was no way he could hide this information any longer, merely nodded, answering Trixie before she could even finish her question.

Trixie didn't know what to believe. Her mind was already struggling to comprehend what was going on around her, but now she had to deal with the fact that her own boyfriend had creatures that she believed only existed in fiction? Yet, the more she thought about it, the more it all began to make sense. Timmy did always have odd things happening around him. And as Remy confirmed, those school supplies were his godparents. They were also pink, purple, and green, the colors of the objects that always seemed to be near or on her boyfriend at the same time.

Now knowing this, in a way, there was a breach of trust that Trixie felt towards Timmy. But now wasn't the time to voice her concern over her relationship problems. However, that didn't stop her from conjuring up a disturbing question. If Timmy's 'fairy godparents' can grant him wishes, then could it be possible that he wished for circumstances that led her to like him - or worse, practically force her into a relationship by wishing her to like him? She doubted it, but then again, how would she know if she was under a spell by his fairies? She mentally slapped herself, ashamed that she would even think somebody like Timmy would do something like that.

However, as if fending off one troubling thought wasn't enough, another one suddenly lodged itself into the front of her mind.

As Trixie discovered through a recent episode at school, it would appear that she, for whatever reason, had some recollection of Timmy's godparents. Of course, at the time, she recalled them being in a different form, but now she was more than certain that that particular form was in the form of fairies. But how was that even possible? How could she even be remotely familiar with something she didn't even know existed until today? Trixie pondered about all of this for a split-second, becoming submerged by her troubled thinking until Timmy spoke.

"You mentioned that the Shield Corps deal with magical deviations that Fairies can't. What exactly does that mean?" Timmy asked, not oblivious to his girlfriend's concerns but also figuring that addressing those problems were better reserved for a better time.

The blond captain sighed.

"Well, after a number of events, some of which you caused, the Fairy Council decided that it was time to form an organization composed of humans that could respond to crisis that they were otherwise unable to. The fairies aren't as powerful as many would think, which was especially apparent during that little 'Darkness Fiasco', which you're quite familiar with."

He paused, with Timmy recalling that event and Trixie finding herself being sunk deeper into bewilderment.

She already didn't know he had fairies, but now he was involved in what sounded like a dramatic occasion known as the 'Darkness Incident?' What the hell was that, and how was her boyfriend connected? She had no clue, and she became further troubled because it highlighted again how much she actually didn't know about her boyfriend.

"However, the biggest threat we face currently comes from the monsters destroying Dimmsdale - the Shadow Roamers. They began to appear through portals randomly in small clusters in isolated areas shortly after the Darkness Incident years ago. For the most part, we were able to contain and eliminate them before they got close to any people. Unfortunately, it would seem that this time they've managed to appear in a densely populated area."

Remy spoke again, clearing his throat.

"They're incredibly powerful and kill indiscriminately, with their abilities varying and their heights ranging from the average human to giants measuring up to fifty feet. They seem to be created out some sort of dark energy, and even stranger, appear to specifically disable or greatly weaken the magic from Fairies, no matter how powerful they are. This is why, if you haven't already noticed, your fairy parents were unable or had limited ability to perform any sort of magic."

All of this information seeped into Timmy's brain, and what were once happenings of today that made no sense suddenly began to all connect. Trixie just sat there, her head barely able to keep up with everything being told.

"So now that I'm done giving you a brief summary about what's going on, what is your answer to joining the Shield Corps?" Remy asked impatiently, his eyes hawkishly focused on the two.

Hearing their former classmate's words, Trixie and Timmy ceased their own musings and turned to each other.

Truthfully, neither of them know how to answer.
