It was a beautiful story and very much like what most people wanted to see happen in the series, but not after Camlann. It would have needed to happen before Camlann, because the legends say he did indeed die at Camlann & the series wasn't about to try to change one of the hard & fast basics of the legends.

First of all, can I just say that I've got to stop reading fics that reveal things? Really, so far I have accidentally learned that Merlin finds this dragon egg and names the dragon inside Aithusa, Arthur dies, Gwaine dies, Elyan and Lancelot both die, etc...ect...

Beautiful. It's the end that everybody wants. The end merlin and Arthur deserve. After everything merlin have done for Arthur and all the promises the dragon give him with an Albion built by Arthur and him, merlin deserve to be officially by Arthur side.

I wish this would be the first episode of season 6. (sigh)

So many stories end with Merlin saves Arthur or the magic reveal. I really love how you go into the aftermath and the awkwardness of living now the treat has gone. Merlin has a survivors guilt and it makes perfect sense that he would feel the loss of Gwaine.

I think it's very telling that Arthur can now read Merlin, the blinkers are gone and he can truly see his friend. I also like how their friendship, negates long talks about feelings and is more about action and deed.
