I'm sad that this seems to be yet another story where Watson acts more like a teenager and *allows* Sherlock to sabotage her love life. She is entirely smart enough to do her own background check. And there is no way in this day and age that someone who worked at Harvard (even for someone else) would have no trace of it online or elsewhere.

And there was zero reason to Watson to leave tom when they were just about to have sex just because Sherlock called (or better still no reason for her to have her phone ringer on).

It would just be nice, for once, for SHERLOCK to be the one who had to see Watson happy and be jealous of her more meaningful making love than his ridiculous sexcapades.

You have already implied that Sherlock has had (semi anonymous) sex twice in this story.
There is no reason why Watson can't have a good relationship with Tom that ends (for any variety of reasons) or forces Sherlock to man-up and stop being an asshole. And to stop pretending that sex is just a physical thing.

I want him to have to see Watson getting more than that with tom. To realize what he's missing.

Hmm...Tom might not be a serial-killer, but there is definitely something fishy about him trying so hard to get Joan away from Sherlock...or is that just him jealous at how close they both are and how much Joan values Sherlock?
Poor Sherlock, I was WILLING him to say the words AND for Joan to recognise what his touch meant! Sherlock is not a touchy feely person, so him caressing her face and lips...Joan, catch a clue like you caught strep throat, out of the blue!

Yay, you are still working on this! I got the email that there was an update just before I left for work; I spent the work day pleasantly anticipating reading it.

I loved the way that "No!" just sort of explodes from Sherlock. Poor fellow, in over his head like a baby giraffe just figuring out how to stand and doesn't know how to sort himself out.
