I'm glad equius was in this story even though it was for awhile.

I think it's a really good idea of you to turn this into a book. It was a beautiful story and I would love to read even more in-depth into Nepeta (or Selima's) life. Though the twist was sad and upset me when I read it, it was still a good twist and lead to quite a touching ending. I'll definitely be looking for your book when it comes out!

I know you probably don't check this thing out anymore, but I want to leave something here anyway, selfish as it is of me.

This is just glorious. I never expected something so great, so intriguing, so well-written. The characters were impeccable, the story was so immersive I lost myself and stopped responding to the outside world, the pacing was enough to keep me coming back for more and it was so emotional, I almost teared up and grinned like an idiot at alternating points, I'm so happy this exists.

I've always been secure knowing that I'm at least decent at writing, but you, you're a genius on so many levels, your ability and way with words rivals the greatest authors of today and I'm sorry, I'm really rambling aren't I.

Just... from the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you for this. It was so heartwarming, so adorable, so sad, and so amazing that I didn't want it to end, and yet I still feel alright about it because it ended beautifully. I have no constructive criticisms for this at all. Normally for even the best of writers & artists my dumb, overcritical nature finds something to pick at, but this is just the great fanfic I have yet read.

So again, thank you. Thank you for everything I've already thanked you for, and the millions of other things I cannot even articulate. If I knew you in real life, I'd just give you a freakin hug after finishing this. (Not really because god dang that would be weird.)

THIS. ENDING. IS. UNACCEPTABLE, nevermind fanon nepeta deaths scares me more, firstly Zamael's Hearts story was more scarier than this however, it's like no goddamn time to mourn for deaths, And the karezi part was insta-ragequit, I was more expecting a really autistic nepeta to be in love with karkat, this was not up to my expectations but oh well, Let's just damn say this happened in a dream bubble? Happy? sad? angry? Nope just really abrupt, let me tell you this, in order to die in a hospital is lack of morphine to the body, and she's pretty much in a good condition, oh what the hell I'm basically ranting this isnt hate mail but a complaint, I mean SERIOUSLY? She died and become an angel with wings... Its like consarnit this part, im out, good story but needs buildup, like curse the story for being too fast, as they would say gotta go fast, welp, ends well it ends really abrupt. Good story, but not enough to make me cry on chapter 10, maybe. Because of different beliefs, I believe in the afterlife god judges us on our sins and deeds, if we fail we go to hell and if we win we go to heaven, if you die a horrible death and not prayed enough then chances you end up a ghost, whatever I'm view the afterlife different I guess I mean what do you mean she's a ghost? Nevermind, keep up the good work I guess *sigh*

This was so sad yet so sweet. I thoroughly enjoyed this and look forward to other stories!

Aww, it wasn't a dream. I really wanted this Nepeta to not die. Alas, such is the fate of all Nepetas, it seems. Well at any rate, glad to see this finished, I was waiting for this chapter. Just sitting at my computer for weeks staring at my email, saying to myself "AAAHH WHEN IS THE LAST CHAPTER OF SMILE COMING!? FUCKIN HELL WHERE IS IT!?" And then yay it appeared! :P
That being said, I do feel like the ending was rather abrupt. Nepeta's death really came out of nowhere, with no real explanation for it from what I could see, as she was supposedly recovering. And from there, the last chapter kinda turned into an info dump of what happened after, with little of the emotional impact from before, due to the disconnect between Nepeta and the other characters. I'm sorry to say this, as I loved this story up until Nepeta's death. I just feel that the strongest part of this story was Nepeta's gradually growing relationship with Karkat, and the sudden guardian angel death didn't really fit the heart and realism present in the first nine chapters.
I hope you don't take this criticism to mean I disliked the story, as that's certainly not true, I simply feel that the final chapter rushed through things too quickly with too little warning. That being said, the story is still very heartfelt, with moments that truly stoked the emotion within my cold lifeless heart.

What a bittersweet ending. To tell you the truth, when Nepeta said something about a hand on her shoulder, I honestly thought it was going to be Jesus taking her to Heaven! ...But it being her dad was more fitting.

Another thing: I usually don't like humanstuck stuff, but this was just beautiful. Nepeta's death here was BY FAR better than her actual canon death.

Good luck expanding this into a book! My advice on that, though, is to expand more on the plot and possibly alter some traits of some of the characters, especially Nepeta/Selima. You'll obviously have to do more than just change the characters' names.

For a brief moment as I read this, a lump formed in my throat. Just for a few seconds, though, as I thought about what would happen if someone close to me died. I just hope it never happens...

Anyway, I hope to see more from you in the future! :)
