Yuu Matari chapter 7 . 7/12/2015 Uwoo, so awesome. I'm glad the story have a sweet happy end and nobody dies. I always liked stories where almost all the characters included in a story, although in name only. I also like stories with family and friendship genre like this, so sweet ! the point I want to say that I am very fond of this story. keep writing ! |
hydrogenstarfuel chapter 4 . 12/29/2014 I'm so tired but I. Can't. Stop. Reading o.o |
javlatua chapter 7 . 8/8/2014 You don't understand how much this made me cry It's an amazing story, my God, I love it I love I love it (See this is why Denmark is my favorite character) |
Whisps chapter 6 . 7/12/2014 I really love this story and its characterizations. They're amazing. My one issue is with this chapter. I'm aware that this is fiction, and a great one, but there is no way Matthias would have seen the shark or would have had time to push Lukas out of the way. Maybe the shark could attack him originally instead? I'm sure Lukas would feel guilty for anything, maybe he had traded places with Matthias? Other than that, fantastic story, it's just that I can see how much effort you put into writing then re editting it in order for it to make sense, but that one thing is just not possible. An attack from a shark is typically a sneak attack and very very quick. |
MagicTactician chapter 7 . 7/6/2014 This is one of the funniest, saddest, most amazing story I've read in a while! |
SilverDawn1313 chapter 1 . 7/3/2014 I like it! |
SilverDawn1313 chapter 7 . 7/2/2014 Oh Cool It's good to know I won't think Im going crazy :) |
Alfredian Rep chapter 6 . 3/20/2014 Two words: bloody brilliant. I loved the plot, the dialogue, and definitely your depiction of peter and the intricacies of the actual rescue mission parts (although I'm fairly sure they would plot the signal they were originally tracking to find the lifeboat and thus would be able to have a within-view accurate estimate of their location when the signal went out at the end...-but seriously, Hollywood has more glaring plot-holes and problems (with just as satisfyingly cheesy endings to the conflicts I might add)). The story as it is, is very well done and I regret that I hadn't stumbled upon it earlier. The tension is well played out and it helps the story move along without lengthening it anymore. My only real qualm would be the character development in the story. I am not insinuating that there isn't any or that the development that is there isn't good enough. Far on the contrary, actually. Instead, I am proposing that you have the ability to improve (and become quite good, I might add). The time jumps in the search slightly takes away from the character development (given it does still manage to tell the story that makes you feel for the characters). Instead of seeing the catastrophe unfold for the entire week (where the characters would realistically create certain bonds with each other and other interactions that are merely implied, and you would get a better feel for how Gilbert, Matthew, and the rest were going about attempting to save them), it seems to develop into three sections of stranded-ness: -initial stranding and organization - some of this is also left to the imagination, in this case a beneficial point to the story -brief flashes of character development through struggle - although no real problem is expressed through these scenes except for their hunger/thirst/lack of supplies, and there really could have been; what with Matthias' wounds which could have acted up, the potentiality for sharks to become an ever-increasing issue since they started in the shark-region and the helicopter crash would have called sharks to it approx. 3 hours after the crash, and Berwald's vision problems (also glossing over the rescue of Francis and Antonio even though, according to the news broadcast who usually only get the victim-count wrong when they 'don't' have video of the on-shore rescue, there were only two people pulled from the beach (Alfred and Kiku)) -the rescue - actually done fairly well, although plagued by characters who weren't quite developed enough for their roles in the actions (such as it is basically the first time we see Hercules and even 'hear' about Ludwig, Sadiq, Lovino, and Ivan, when these characters could have been explored in their roles at CG-HQ during the skipped over time in the search for the castaways) and small plot-bunny holes (which is where the plot bunny chews through your plot and then uses its cuteness and fluff to distract you (the author) from noticing said holes such as: the rescue crew already commented that "only Matthias would get surrounded by sharks" and yet they still sent rescue swimmers diving instead of by medical bed (which is often done in non-touch-down zones such as (on land) unstable cliffs, mountainsides, strained ice, and potential landslide areas (if they suspect it might give)), and, of course, no one even commenting that Matthias had never, in the time they were stuck, tried to use his phone (emphasized by the fact Lucas was amazed it was working when Berwald retrieved it and 'then' was given the water-proof explanation)). The next step for improvement, if you would so choose it, would be a pre/post outlining stage. The pre-outlining stage would be, of course, to outline the story and see where you can add subtle foreshadowing of coming events (such as perhaps Matthias making sure they weren't bleeding into the water or telling them not to stick their hands in) and make sure past events or rules that have been established don't interfere with future events (such as not mentioning or even remembering the phone before it is ringing, and then not questioning that...). The post-outline is a technique of going through the story almost backwards, typically after it's written, and making sure that the future events (later in the story) match the tone that has been set up by the story timeline (do the events create a linear mood that slowly progresses the story along to its final climax and then safely down to the conclusion?). These are difficult tactics that often take a lot of time and planning, but your work will benefit from it. If writing (of any kind) is something you aspire toward, this may be something you should consider for creating new stories or revisions of past works. I do hope you take this as merely a critique (and not a baseless flame) and consider this: I could not draw examples (good and bad) from this work if the plot, characters, setting, and overall story was not already to a certain level of excellence. I only offer my suggestions for improvement because I see a spark of brilliance that can become quite an inspiring inferno if given effort and time. Wonderful fic as a whole, and thank you for posting such an endearing read, -Rep |
Guest chapter 6 . 12/22/2013 Why does this not have more reviews? |
fangurl 8846 chapter 1 . 12/22/2013 The story was super original! And I can tell that you had a lot of fun writing it, because you didn't miss any details or stray from the storyline! I liked the little fluff moments too, with Peter I mean. The relationship between father and son was cute and really wee thought out. How did you come up with this? And are you diabetic? Just wondering cuz you seemed to know a lit about it. Anyway, well done! I want to read more from you like this! Keep on writing! |
Captain Quirky chapter 6 . 12/14/2013 OH MY GOOOOOOOOSH! This was so wonderfully beautifully fantastic! I can't begin to describe how much I loved this. Your prose was gripping. The story took me on an emotional rollercoaster, from Matthew shattering that glass at the phone call to Matthias finding out Antonio and Francis were alive. ;_; Every character was believable and likable, and the dialogue was immensely entertaining. The little happy scenes, like Matthias and Peter hanging out and then Peter's career day also put a big smile on my face. I don't think I could adore you anymore for this. I loved it so much and look forward to reading more by you. :) |
Little Chibi chapter 6 . 12/8/2013 Everyone lived! Happy ending! |
ShilohHolmes chapter 6 . 12/3/2013 I literally had to force myself away from my phone this morning when I saw that you had updated, so I could get ready in time. As soon as I was though, BAM, I had to read! At first I was thinking, 'If they don't get rescued I am going to break something- and what if she kills someone' and then I started reading and wow. How do you have so much talent!? The shark attack was amazing (well, not for Mathias lol), and I loved the way you wrote everyone's reactions. So many people have a great plot but struggle with characterization. You did spectacular with both! The rescue and ending were all that I hoped them to be and more, but I am so sad it's over! Why!? |
