This fic made me wanna cry. Really well written and an amazing idea that you executed perfectly.
TalaAzar chapter 1 . 3/19/2019
This was very well written, and I could definitely feel the repressed rage and so on from uncle Iroh, who by the way you kept very IC. Thanks for the read!

Beautiful
JackieStarSister chapter 1 . 2/19/2016
This is excellent! Iroh can be hard to get right but you did really well narrating his thoughts. This is full of great one-liners. The parallels you draw between Zuko and Lu Ten are nice, and your theory about clothing makes a lot of sense. My favorite part is definitely the ending, both their interaction and Iroh's vow.

Just one detail is potentially inaccurate: the bit about Zuko going to Iroh's room rather than his father's. Before Ursa left, Zuko went to her ("The Search" comics actually showed this happening in a flashback), and at that point Iroh would have been fighting on the war front anyway. It is possible, though, that Zuko might have turned to Iroh after that, but he would be getting a little old by that time, at least eight, probably old enough to be embarrassed about needing comfort when he couldn't sleep.

Overall, you did a great job with this piece. :)

This was sweet.
tomorrow4eva chapter 1 . 6/25/2015
Very well written. I felt the same sadness as when the show revealed where Zuko got his scar.
BlatantBookworm chapter 1 . 3/15/2015
This is excellent. I love the idea of firebenders having a practical reason for taking off their shirts, and I love the idea of Iroh feeling guilty. He's a good character, but I like seeing him with just as much character development as his nephew, only his was pre-series. After all, we know that he relentlessly attacked Ba Sing Se and was laughing about it in his letters home, so despite the focus on Zuko we know Iroh grows too. You did a brilliant job in describing this growth.
kataang0508 chapter 1 . 1/7/2015
Beautiful! Although, I must say I was a bit squeamish when Iroh was changing Zuko's bandages. I could practically see the skin peeling off and... Yeah. I had a good visual.
Great work!

I really enjoyed this!
Airavata chapter 1 . 9/1/2014
This story had me choked up. I never really thought about the immediate aftermath of what happened, and it's absolutely heartbreaking! It never occurred to me that Iroh could have volunteered to come along when Zuko thought he was on his own. So sweet.
Zuko/Iroh's relationship was was of my favorite parts of the series, and you have captured this early development perfectly. Thanks for sharing this great story!
cooliochick5 chapter 1 . 1/4/2014
This was so beautifully written. Nicely done.
MeatandSarcasm chapter 1 . 11/24/2013
This was so very beautiful and well writen. Your portrails of the characters were masterfull and your plot was awesome. I think you got into iroh's head quite nicely and found this to be a very touching tale.

Thank you so very much for this oneshot it was magnificent!
Roseblade22 chapter 1 . 11/25/2013
Aw, that was so sweet.

I like this story for two reasons: A) I haven't come across too many stories told from Iroh's perspective, and I think you captured his love for Zuko and guilt for what happened to the boy very well, and B) I thought it was heartbreaking when he thought he'd failed his nephew, when in reality, Iroh was really the only person who never gave up on the young Prince. I also enjoyed the flashback with Lu Ten, as I haven't seen that done very often either, but it was a great way to draw parallels between Iroh's feelings for his late son and his current feelings for Zuko.

Excellently rendered, my friend!
Jason9000 chapter 1 . 11/25/2013
Ness...guess...what...I'm stalking you! Nice story it's good to see a story of Zuko after he got his scar.
Isil'zha BLZ chapter 1 . 11/24/2013
This was a well written, well thought out story. I really enjoyed it, and I'm really glad I happened to stumble across it. I could definitely see this happening after the Agni Kai, you captured the characters personalities and emotions so well.
