Wow... powerful. You know..., while every other ally was shown in the Extended Cut epilogue, Javik was nowhere to be seen. For some reason, that omission didn't register until just now. However, while it is not a "good" ending, it is one that is almost demanded by Javik's very nature. Great work on your character work; it remains one of the best parts of your writing.

Javik is harsh, but not necessarily out of character. Definitely not a Javik that meshed as well with the Normandy crew as in canon, but perhaps a bit more real.

Not one many would like. He's lucky he never met Jack, or at least spent a lot of time with her- on or the other would have been a giant stain on the bulkhead.

Again partially canonical- as, if Javik views the memory chard, he would go on to commit suicide after the final assault on Earth at the site where he killed his former crew after they'd been indoctrinated.

The story itself is great though. I do not quite see Javik this way, and I had never considered him to have an infatuation with Liara, but it is an interesting idea. Sounds like the Protheans did too good a job on the Asari.

How have I only just found this? I finished Better Angels wondering what happened to Javik, and here is the answer. I really liked this. It was very 'Javik'.
I think the greatest thing you captured in here - that he would never, ever admit to - is his loneliness and isolation.
The suicide was sad but appropriate. I really like Javik, but realistically, he has no place post-reaper war. The idea of him going back to his people in the afterlife to tell them that victory has been achieved is beautiful.
I also thought the fascination with Liara being spurred on by the visions he read from Shepard on Eden Prime was a stroke of genius.
Yet again, another great story!

That was... a very dark look on Javik. Seeing that Rachel was mostly paragon from what I gathered, one would expect him to start respecting us primitives a little more. Or, at the very least, understanding. But your interpretation is just as valid.

Not bothered by noncon, seen much worse. And Javik did mentioned in Citadel DLC that Protheans "dated" asari. The only primitive species to have that... privilege. But I guess that was not something common.

Not really sure what I'm trying to say here. It was a well written story, though pretty dark, not unlike your others I've read so far. But dark doesn't equal bad. So yeah, it was an interesting perspective to see. Also quite likely what would have happened.

Great story, loved it. So emotional, Javik is by far one of the best characters and you wrote him excellently. Im sure that is just how he would think

Fascinating and unflinching read on Javik. I think sometimes when a character exits like that, there can be feelings of sorrow and anger that they wasted their life or perhaps fulfillment that they achieved their destiny.

With Javik, I felt frustration. In spite of what he witnessed as a crew member aboard the Normandy, he remained a Prothean to the end. Convinced of his, and his cycle's superiority. He sees Liara as an object... not simply to lust after, but to dominate and use (and that she should be pleased by the attention of a superior species). He rattles off Shepard's perceived weaknesses, yet fails to admit that she relied on that as a strength to move forward. Even when getting chewed out, he thinks that Shepard is starting to see things his way (as always with Javik, I think that discussion needs to include Shepard's fist to his face - renegade interrupt).

He was wrong, about damn near everything, but in the end he still didn't understand. And that's the frustrating part.

You did an excellent job with this story. Javik's voice comes across so well. I did not anticipate his fixation with Liara but it works great. It makes sense that Javik could develop an attraction for Liara since she pursues him throughout ME3, at least intellectually.

Contrasting Shepard's motives with Javik's was illuminating and helped me to think of both characters in a new light - they similar in that are both unrelenting in their convictions, but those convictions come from diametrically opposed motivations.

Again, fantastic work! I'm going to backtrack now and start with "Better Angels".

This is an incredibly powerful meditation on Javik's purpose and his conflict with himself. I doubt there could be a more fitting end.

Nicely written. To be the last living soul of a race long past with no possible way to procreate one of your own kind wow. Very profound. Javik's tske on Liara very interesting food for thought.

Masterful insights for a dark, obsessive Javik. He does indicate in his first conversation with Shep that he was appointed to lead the reborn empire and it is intimated in the scenes on Eden Prime - so this is absolutely in keeping with the in-game story. This is particularly interesting because it really addresses the distinction between prothean understanding and priorities and those of Shepard. It drives home the differences in cultural perspective in a big way. Love that Liara, in particular, and Shep by extension drive Javik crazy. Really terrific story! You totally rock!

A very interesting look into Javik's mind, his attitude make a lot more sense.
