I know it's late, but thank you for writing this. It's really sad to see all this rabid fangirls who are lacking maturity on the fandom and staining it in the process. Francis is one of the deepest characters of the whole serie (if not the deepest) but unfortunately a lot of hetalians are not able to understand his feelings

YES, finally someone who agrees with me that Francis isn't a rapist! I get so annoyed when people automatically think he is one when all he does is show his love. D: This was an awesome and well-written way to convey that point. Plus there's FrUK, so it's even better! :)

Exactly! Thank you! Francis is in no way near a rapist! He's a brilliant loving Frenchman who cares about people he's never even met. He even said in the show.

Francis is wonderful and those who say he's a rapist are liars.

Thank you for writing this. I hate how badly people misunderstand France and his actions, and it is quite sickening when some call him a rapist. This was a sad, yet adorable, and well written way to convey a much needed point. Poor France. :(

this was really good, well done. it annoys me to no end when people accuse France of being something so sickening as a rapist, pervert or even paedophile, when he only a loving and romantic nation. thanks for writing this, because its not fair for people to think that of him. (i get way too defensive of this matter but oh well).

This made me cry and it was so beautiful and just THANK YOU.
Plus, the ending gave me the kinda sad laugh I feel Francis has at the end. Where it covers the darkness underneath. Just a thin layer of happy draped over the years of depression.

I realize it's not productive to get worked up over an anime character, but here's my two cents, and I thank you for writing this piece.

I personally get VERY offended when people say France is a rapist and then brush it off as some sort of "rape is so kawaii!" sort of thing. For starters, I was raped two years ago, so I get really mad when people joke about rape like that and treat it lightly. Secondly, one of my best friends is French, and he would never rape anyone. Although French people are very forward in the way they express their affections, there's a big difference between that and forcing yourself on someone without their permission.

It's people like that who make the rest of us in the fandom look terrible. There need to be more stories like this where France is actually in character! Thank you so much.

I tip my hat to you, kind-and-brilliant-lady. I dunno, I often find that the people who call Francis a rapist are the ones that don't truly understand the characters. They know (or think they know) the surface of their personalities from what is shown in the anime and manga, but they don't bother going further, discovering other, deeper things. And it's those people that are missing out on what a wonderful, caring, bright, brilliant character Francis is (and the other nations as well).
So basically what I'm saying is, I agree with you 100% and thank you for writing this.

I almost burst into tears myself. Good job on the characters and feelings! I thought England would be one of the ones who called France a rapist since they're both often fighting and insulting each other. Fortunately, that didn't happen.

I hate it when people call France a rapist because he is not. I now what you mean about the fictional character nonsense: "It's just fiction," "It's just a fictional character," etc. That still doesn't mean we can do it. There are some things not appropriate to joke about, even in fiction. Furthermore, many people who attack fictional characters treat real people badly. Their behavior towards fictional works is often a reflection of their personality and real self.
