Just had occasion to re-read this and, remarkably, I hadn't posted a review the first time around. Fine and lovely as you usually manage. Canon made too little of such an experience. Both would be unsettled to the core. Though she suffered (almost) no physical harm, the fault lines from the murder of Jane's family would be stressed anew. As for Lisbon, she has spent a decade visiting gory scenes of torture and murder at RJ's hand. It would be impossible not to imagine herself under that knife. The blood that did mark her was itself the product of yet another gruesome murder, no less disturbing for being that of a RJ disciple and her CBI colleague. Nicely done.

Adding one more thought. Remember how Lisbon reacted back in 4x24?! She didn't sleep, didn't eat, worried about him all the time. I can't imagine how it's going to be now that she must fear he might never come and might even end his life, who knows?
I wish he'd take her to Mexico. :P

I think you usually follow spoilers so I hope I'm not ruining anything for you with the following thought.
Have you seen the bts photo of SB wearing a sarong, supposedly in Mexico/central America? Would you ever adventure yourself into writing what must happen after the whole RJ ordeal? Maybe he just disappears in lieu of getting his head straight, give himself some time, or maybe he's killed RJ and goes into hiding until things cool off? Either way, I wonder if he says goodbye to Lisbon and what his "last" words are. Could that potentially be the first bittersweet kiss or is it too soon? In any case it seems sad to me that he'll leave again after the Vegas abandonment on her. I wish he'd say goodbye this time and tell her he'd come back, because it's so sad for her to go through this again.
Anyway, I know you're working on wonderful stories already so I already enjoy those. Just wondering if you were going to write something about it.

I love your writing and loved this story like all your others! :) I loved the scene of Jane touching her face and contemplating what to do. You wrote that scene beautifully and used wonderful imagery! Great job!

I can't wait for it either! As far as I can se, the writers (and especially Bruno) will thwart us yet again, with no display of the actual scene, but just hand holding of whatever innocent gesture they can come up with.
