I think it might be Oz crying, but Jack's sorrow. Basically, both inhabitants of that body agreeing on something, even if it isn't conscious.

I was literally choking up at the end. I loved this to pieces.
Your attention to detail is phenomenal; I could imagine the portrait as I read. What I really loved was the look at Oswald and Jack's relationship from Gilbert's perspective. I also really liked how you linked Oswald and Gilbert's feelings of getting a true smile from that one person in their lives.
