Wow... I am speechless. I can’t believe that, when I first started this story two years ago, I dismissed it as another cheesy plot with strange author wish fulfillment. When I returned to a few months ago, I frequently was close to losing hope that I would ever find a good fanfiction again. I am so glad that I decided to persist because, just as I was at my last, most desperate straw, I found your story again. This time, I decided to read it through. Suffice to say—it kept up all night, even though I am extremely busy, sleep-deprived, and have insomnia. I painstakingly reactivated the old account that I had locked up and thrown away the key to, and am now typing this review (my very first, because I was unwilling to commit and no other story was worth it) on a phone (which I hate doing). (In fact, I have never imagined a long review or comment in my head and actually finished writing it before.) I am extremely picky about my plots and the side a story supports. However, although this story was definitely not exactly what I was looking for—well—I’m actually very glad that it didn’t conform to my expectations, because your plot twists are just wonderful! You write like a professional author, without a the hallmarks of the rubbish making up ninety-nine percent of this falling website today. Your grammar, spelling, and mechanics are impeccable. What could have been cheesy and ridiculous had become, through your genius, the best fanfiction I have ever read, surpassing by far the only three stories that have ever managed to move me, to be on par with Queen JKR herself. If you were a published author, you’d earn millions. If the Internet worked fairly, the entire world would like and follow you and your story, even when it finished. You are a phenomenon. You would crush any opponents in a writing competition. This has actually inspired me to become a better writer and person, myself, even though I am a terrible person and writer. You have managed to combine mature content with classic heroism in such a beautiful, elegant, and perfect way I had never thought would be possible. Thank you. I can’t think of anything more to say.

I hate to even guess this... But the clues point to Neville. In addition to the things you mentioned, he was always horrible in Potions, and after his nasty fall during First Year off the broom, I doubt he liked brooms anymore either. :( But why would Neville turn to Voldemort's side? Does it have something to do with his parents? (if it's him).
