I teach music to children ranging in age from four to18 and I have been asked very personal questions, some of which I couldn't come up with an appropriate answer. Some children have shown the same kinds of worry and care Grace exhibits in your story.

I want you to know that until your story it never occurred to me to consider Grace as such an observant person. That was silly of me because of my experiences. But you handled this scene with great aplomb and sincerity. It is a truly remarkable moment. I'm impressed that you did not "dumb-down" your vocabulary because she is a child. (They have wonderful brains!

The emotional impact on Steve was alsl deftly written. His thoughts regarding Mary's upbringing connected to her adult problems was an excellent jump. Wondering what it would have been like to experience a parent like Danny was such a tender and touching moment. And then for him to actually tell Danny he was a good parent was even better.
