To me its a battle with his self esteem. Is he good enough and such. It's bittersweet with a hint at being hopeful. I really liked this.

Aww, that's so sad! And listening to I Need Your Love (Calvin Harris feat. Ellie Goulding) is not helping in the slightest. I really enjoy the angsty stuff, but perhaps you could do a bit of fluff next? I mean, their relationship can't be all bad, right? They should have their good times along with the bad.

Watching his struggle is just so powerful because you've written it so perfectely that it felt as if I was sitting in his head. I could almost hear his thoughts.

And the flashbacks!

First he wanted her to finally trust him and you could feel his exasperation with her that she was still not trusting him.

And then he brought Henry back and felt like an outsider and pushed her away when she followed him and showed her concern because he doesn't want to feel anything for her but it's already too late and he is fighting a futile battle with his already existing feelings.

And then he saw Baelfire and the small flicker of hope he might have had died when he saw her reunited with the father of her child, the man he thinks she is in love with.

And OH MY GOD, COL ... the sex scene. I felt like a dirty voyeur reading it. How he tried to scare her off but she wanted it exactly like this. Rough and hot and full of passion. EXTRAORDINARY!

But he still tries desperately to keep his distance, to not fall for her completely but he is failing miserably because she is just coming back over and over again.

I actually consider it a happy end, sort of. Because he might still fight it but they are both falling hard for each other and you can already see it that it's only a matter of time until they both admit it. To themselves and to each other.

If it isn't clear by now ... I LOVED IT! EVERY SINGLE WORD OF IT. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS WONDERFUL, AMAZING BIRTHDAY PRESENT, COL.

great story! update!

It was great. Amazing. Spectacular. I got so engrossed in reading it. And I really like the little flashback segments you did, helping add a bit more depth without overpowering :)

As much as I like loving and sweet Killian, I also enjoy a primal and hunter like Hook. I love the duality that he rocks. And I could totally see him taking her like this, hating himself. Great concept...and way to return it to a softer side at the end.
