I really tried to enjoy this story but the plotline was pretty contrived. Using a traumatic event to bring two characters together in fanfiction is pretty common, but a more mature writer would be able to do it more realistically. Sure, Ted has a tendency to be overbearing, and Lily can be interfering, but someone completely cutting off their friends and moving in with a guy they don't know all that well after a traumatic event like rape is unrealistic. There are ways to write this story without portraying Barney as the only one in Robin's life able to take care of her. From my own person experience, nobody is perfect at supporting you after an event like this. In this story what Barney did for Robin was exactly the right thing, but when someone else did that exact same thing, it was wrong.

Barney insisting that Robin did not need to see a psychiatrist and that she only needed his support was also unrealistic. Although he was trying to be "supportive", he let things get to the point where she was self-harming and still wasn't sure about therapy. People do need to do things on their own time, but Barney's attitude that only he knew what was good for Robin was annoying. Encouraging her to isolate herself from people she cared about because their reactions weren't spot on was wrong as well. Nobody reacts perfectly to an event like this. And clinging to a single person and having them be your everything also doesn't help healing and in the end isn't real life.

Barney allowing Robin to kiss him when she feels uncomfortable places is not a healthy behavior. People in those situations often don't want to be touched at all. Even if they do, making out with them, even if that's what they want (or think they want) is a stupid way to handle it. Barney should have at least had that much sense. I get that you wanted to get them together, but someone "helping" someone that way is a bit disturbing. It's a common trope in these types of fics, but it's one that should be either eliminated or much more carefully handled. Before writing a story like this, it's probably best to do more research on the aftermath of rape and trauma. Don't use rape as a plot gimmick to pair up a couple or to make a story dramatic.

Wow...first off I have to say I love all your works! This one in particular is an amazing story that I'm sure some can relate too. It's a story about becoming a victor and not a victim from a traumatic event. It's an inspiring piece of work that had me hooked from the beginning. I liked how you talked about effects of rape, as opposed to focusing on the details of it. I hope at some point she does seek professional help. I also like how the relationship between Robin and Barney develops naturally. Doesn't feel forced. I like how you portray Ted. He's a whiny character who plays the "nice guy" card. Almost like Ross from Friends. As a character he becomes more tolerable when he meets Tracey. Anyways...I can't wait for the next update, or next story, you write. Have a wonderful day!

I'm very sad to hear that this will be the last of this story, but I get it. It's not as fun to write anymore. Regardless, I really enjoyed the chapter. I think the characterization of Robin is spot on to what she's gone through. I really liked how you had her react to Lily and Marshall. Great job!

This was another great chapter. I'm glad Robin is finally getting emotions out and letting herself confront the trauma of that day.

I totally understand losing the inspiration for a story, or I guess all of your stories since you said you're done with writing in general (that's so sad, by the way). But I beg of you to please reconsider writing at least just one more chapter for this fic. I've been following it for years as one of my absolute favorites and I'd really like to see it have a proper end.

While this chapter was great at drawing this toward an ultimate conclusion, leaving it here would mean leaving this story with no real ending at all. It's like having your favorite show cancelled before the writers get a chance to wrap it up, and that's always an extremely painful thing for the loyal fans who've followed it. So I ask you to please find the inspiration to give us a satisfying ending chapter to this reading experience and officially bookend your story.

I like the drama in this chapter a lot. Robin finally gets to bring out some of what happened to her, in a safe space, and the catalyst is realistic. I like how Barney is gentle with her, but still stands firm and remains honest in what he wants. The two of them falling asleep on the beach and waking up with Swarley is a lovely image.

Aw I hope this means they'll finally get together, and if they do wonder what Ted will think when they get home.
