Reviews for Fragments
ViolaHarmony chapter 51 . 1/7/2018
Yay! I finally finished reading. Actually, I finished a while ago, I just haven't had a chance to review until now. Anyway, this story is amazing! But it made me sad. The ending was very bittersweet for me. I feel so bad for both Luigi and Mario. Speaking of Mario, his strategy with the fireballs seemed a bit...extreme. But, hey, it triggered a breakthrough, so all's well that ends well I guess...

Although the ending was bittersweet, it was realistic. It's just not possible for things to go back to the way they were, however much I may want them to. It is extremely heartening to see Luigi doing so much better, at least. And I meant to say this in an earlier review, but I love the grandfatherly role that Toadsworth takes in this story. And E. Gadd as well. I like how grandfatherly he is towards Luigi.

With that, on to the sequel!
ViolaHarmony chapter 42 . 12/29/2017
Rarely do I find a fanfiction that makes me think so deeply and feel such complex emotions. And from the Mario franchise, no less! :) Such a lighthearted, goofy, cartoony franchise. Well, on the surface at least. Cartoony or no, the Mario bros really do have quite a complex relationship. It makes them so fun to read and speculate about. Anyway, I hope you don't mind me leaving all these reviews mid-story. I'm just afraid if I don't get my thoughts down right away, I'll forget what I wanted to say. I'm also reading this story more slowly than I normally would. Well, part of that is because my one-year-old keeps me so busy, but also this story is just so deep and complex that I find myself re-reading chapters to make sure that I'm not missing anything and so I can really dissect them. And sometimes I have to take a break from it for a day so I can really process it. It's funny I'm devoting so much thought to a fanfiction. I can't help it, it's just that good! :)

I'm sorry if my last review didn't make any sense! I didn't quite get what was going on. I thought Luigi had gone for good. But he did come back after all. Then he went away again as they decided to let Mr. L take the reins. But Luigi is coming back slowly as the two gradually merge. It was very interesting how you describe Mr. L experiencing Luigi's memories. Especially the one where he was created. Nastasia was separating the two, but to Luigi, it felt like everything was being washed away until only Mr. L was left. I just hadn't thought of it like that before.

I can't help but feel for Mario. His over-protectiveness for Luigi has definitely caused some damage, but he never meant to hurt him. He was just trying to be a good brother. (And Luigi is just so adorable and vulnerable, who wouldn't want to help and protect him?) That said, Luigi's resentment towards Mario is understandable. Especially since he's currently leaning towards being Mr. L. As much as Luigi loves Mario, I can see him harboring some hidden resentment. And while his love outweighs his resentment, Mr. L is the part of him that would feel that resentment most keenly.
ViolaHarmony chapter 38 . 12/19/2017
Wow! This story is so good! I found it interesting that Luigi was the most angry and hostile towards Mr. L, especially when the other characters began to feel some sympathy towards him. But it makes sense. If Luigi is beginning to realize that Mr. L is just a part of him, it would be a part of him that he's ashamed and frightened of. So, it makes sense that Luigi just wanted Mr. L out.

And... Wait a minute. Luigi's gone? Like, gone forever? H-he's coming back, right? At first, I was upset at this new development, but when I thought about it, he's not really gone. The two personalities are integrating. Mr. L seems to have a slight upper hand right now, but Luigi is definitely there. And really, the "Luigi" personality wasn't really Luigi. Or at least, he was an incomplete version of Luigi. To truly become Luigi, his two personalities need to merge completely. Of course, he'll be Luigi again, but he's going to be very much affected by his experiences. All this psychology is making my head hurt, but it's awesome!

And now it seems the two story lines have caught up with one another. It will be interesting to see how the story continues to develop. Also, I liked how E. Gadd explained the bros. super powers. That was cool. :)

I am in the business of art, freelance portraiture in specific. If I find a fanfiction I want to read, I sit down and read a chunk, then work on the portrait, then read a chunk, then work etc.
Yours made me stop what I was doing altogether and sit down and read. What. An amazing. Story. I read the first chapter, and I was like, what is this seriously from Toadsworth's point of view? Amazing that you turned what I thought was a boring character into one that I now love! A true masterpiece.
ViolaHarmony chapter 26 . 12/8/2017
Hi! I just wanted to let you know how much I'm enjoying your story. I sort of skimmed it before. (It's a bad habit I have. I'll sometimes skim through stories and books, or read the end to see if I'll like it, or if I get impatient.) But I'm reading it for real this time. Currently, I'm reading the version on deviantart since you said it was the updated version, but I don't have a deviantart account, so... I'm reviewing it here.

Anyway, I really love your story. It's well-written, and I don't think it's hard to follow. Sure, not everything makes sense right away, but that's one reason why the story is so great. The psychological aspects of this story are interesting. I like how you explore the idea that Mr. L was always a part of Luigi. I know it's popular fanon, but still, it's presented very well in this story. Now Mr. L and Luigi have to come to terms with each other to survive. Of course, I want Luigi to emerge victorious, but maybe he needs to realize that having Mr. L inside of him isn't necessarily a bad thing. He just needs to draw on Mr. L's strength while keeping his negative attributes in check.

I love how you write the Mario Bros' dialogue. The reader can tell that they have accents, and English is not their first language. But, it's not done in a way that is over the top or distracting. It's realistic and charming. And can I just say, it's adorable when Luigi speaks Italian and Mario translates for him. I know a major theme of this story is that Luigi needs to have faith in himself and become more independent, and that the whole translating thing almost becomes a bone of contention between them, but... I'm sorry, Luigi. It's just too adorable.

I like the intertwining story lines. I'm not sure which I like best... Maybe Toadsworth's, since we get to see what's going on with all the characters, but Mr. L's sessions with Nastasia are great. I kind of like Nastasia in this story. But then I remember she's the one who got Luigi into this mess in the first place and I'm mad at her all over again. So, Luigi is finally communicating directly with his alter. (Can I call Mr. L his "alter'?) I'm enjoying their conversations. They've almost got a rapport going, albeit a twisted, antagonistic one. ;D I loved Luigi's snarky reply to L's demand for proof. I have to wonder what he wrote in Italian... I wouldn't be surprised if there were a few choice words in there. I don't think Mr. L should underestimate Luigi. He's got some major hidden strength in him. Well, okay, I guess most of that strength went into creating Mr. L, but still. I think Luigi is capable of more that anyone realizes.

Anyway, sorry if I'm rambling. I know this story is kind of old now, but I'm really enjoying it and looking forward to reading more!

Masterful piece. I most enjoyed how you drew the characters' anguish, confusion, and delved into the tangled tale of Mr. L and Luigi and the one succeeding them.

Guest chapter 43 . 5/30/2017
Oh I completely missed the line ''true Identity'' and thought he was becoming Luigi what does that mean though guess I gotta find out :'D
Guest chapter 43 . 5/30/2017
Don't make Mr.l Luigi D: will that happen dhvdgjbdicagyhvdokgvstgcx it seems like L was forced to be him Well I'm guessing he will be Luigi/be in someway in a bittersweet way or he will get his one life possibly it's a bit sad he has to be Luigi though does that means he's dead or still consious it was mentioned earlier in the fanfic it would be ''worse than death it's self'' so I somehow don't want that for L but not all story's have happy endings this was still a fun read either way your writing skills and Imagation is amazing I will be reading the next part now!
