Hazelmist chapter 1 . 5/15/2013 You write so well! I love reading these little ficlets that show us the scenes behind the camera. Can't wait to read more! |
Dina C chapter 1 . 5/13/2013 You captured the unsettling, disharmony that exists in Joan in her current, uncertain status as associate and no longer sober companion. Friend - sorta , partner - yes, roommate - naturally. But there are so many other invisible boxes that could be ticked off, too. And she feels their invisible edges, I think. Liked the visual of her kicking the ball during her thoughtful reverie. Well done. Thanks for sharing. |
Jane Q. Doe chapter 1 . 5/13/2013 I love this addition. Of course Joan can kick a ball too! I'm fascinated to see what the season finale brings... :) |
marshmallowdeviant chapter 1 . 5/13/2013 I've read this twice and still I feel like I should read it again. Great work. Especially with regards your observations on the underlying sexism in both Gregson and Sherlock. Both have these concerns about her doing what she's doing / needing protection and there's that hint of "stand back and let us men handle this- we don't want you getting hurt". I do wonder in the finale how Joan will handle the shifting sands of Sherlock's mental state. Surgery is a real men's club full of posturing and ego so i expect Joan will be knocking some heads together- there's stuff she won't tolerate. But she cares about Sherlock so it's that little bit more complicated. I love how literary your fanfic is, it's heady, fascinating stuff! A feast for thought. Really insightful and impressive :) x |
mmkbrook chapter 1 . 5/13/2013 Think Joan has analyzed her relationship with Sherlock very well. The endgame for them-if there was one-is how they each view themselves in relationship to each other, and if that was the relationship that would make them happy. Think Sherlock could love Joan, but not sure if he would ever see her as his equal. |
CharmingNotDarling chapter 1 . 5/12/2013 Very nicely done... Love how you've gotten inside of her head... And how you've placed her inside of his... The perfect little missing scene for 1x22... And I don't know why but I love the soccer ball... it's almost a connection between them without them knowing... Well done. |
