I... I really didn't clue in to what was happening until the muzzle bit at the end, and I realised that he was with her body... *sobs*

This was incredibly powerful and moving, and it fit so well with the head canon I had. To me, there's no way he'd live without her. After everything they went through, all the hell and sacrifices, if she had died... I don't think he'd survive it. There's no Vakarian without Shepard.

In my mind, I like to believe that she was found after she takes that breath; that the Normandy crashed somewhere close to Earth, and when the repairs are made, he finds her healing in the hospital and they can just live. No more fighting, no more sacrifices, no more war. They gave enough. But in the ending that she didn't survive? This is now my head-canon.

I'd didn't clue in for a bit there what was going on. This was so well written. I thought for a moment he had gone crazy and they were going to haul him away, dancing around with her body, but he took care of himself.

I forgot to review this the last time I read it. Thank you for filling my prompt (yes, it was me, again ). I love this fic, even though it was a sad ending in other people's perspectives, to me, this is way better than an ending where one lived and one died... so, again, thank you so much.

Beautiful and terrible, just as it should be. As soon as he said her skin was cool, I knew what was going on, but if anything it just made it that much more sad, and the ending that much more oddly comforting, because one of the things I hated most was Shepard leaving him alone again.

A few lines where I stumbled:

* *They fell out of the sky like rocks and when they hit the ground they broke apart - This line just sticks out as being out of voice for some reason.

* * but still wanted to be with each other. - one another.

* *Tali's voice is clotted and rough, all wrong angles. Liara doesn't turn around to answer. She just closes the door. here you have Tali's voice and Liara not turning, so I wondered who was where.

A wonderful piece of writing. Thanks for the trauma. :)

Oh, my weeping heart! I, too, was curious after reading Blu's comment in Review Tag and checked this out. It has a morbid beauty to it, and your prose was utterly perfect in describing Garrus's actions and Liara and Tali's reactions at the end. Fantastic job!

Waaaaah! Damn my curiosity! I saw bluninja's comment in the RT thread and HAD to check. Now I'm crying, too.
I figured out where this was going right from the beginning, but I hoped, prayed that I was wrong. *sniffle* not. I think this would win the death scene contest we have running right now.

Damn it, that's dark. I really was *not* expecting that kind of ending, though it's all painfully obvious once you hit the reveal at the end. Very well done putting so much emotional impact into the story. The only part that's not well done is Garrus' description of the Reapers' deaths; just that sentence doesn't seem to flow very well in his voice in my head. Overall, it's very touching, very sad, and very well done.
