The relationship between Gaius and Merlin was one of my favorite aspects of the show too (Arthur & Merlin being #1 ;)) You captured the affection we got glimses of on the show to perfection, and I especially love that last image you painted of the trusting, sleepy Merlin curled in front of the fire and making the flames dance into fantastic shapes. The whole fic is so tender and heartwarming, and I love to think that in-between the dire situation they had to face in the episodes, Gaius and Merlin would have had such moments. Very nice introspection into Gaius here, by the way :). Thank you for writing and sharing! |

I love you. :D I found Merlin about a year ago, and my roommate and I have been devouring the show ever since - we're down to the last season and I'm having to avoid Merlin boards on Pinterest and Merlin tumblrs like the plague - and Merlin fanfiction for the same reason: I don't want ANY spoilers. I loved this piece, because it has none - but even more because it's beautiful and shows in so few words the depth of Merlin and Gaius' friendship. They're so wonderful together... thank you. |
