Nice vignette. I don't have your enthusiasm for elephants, but I am a parent. So I identify. Grammatical, consistent with original, and, yes, sappy but understandably so.

This was so, so cute and, I loved it! The way you wrote it was extremely sweet and I loved the way baby Dumbo interacted with his mother. I, too, am a fan of elephants, they're my favorite animal.

This was nice. I too dislike sappy pieces, but this one wasn't bad. I too am guilty of a little sap, but sometimes I don't feel adequately capable of writing without some sap.

I'm glad you mentioned that this happens after Dumbo became famous, I was wondering at the beginning-you put it in a great place too. The info wasn't forced in somewhere.
