Wow - these snapshot moments into Clint's life are fantastic! I enjoyed all 5 1 - this was like reading a portfolio of your work as it encompassed action, drama, sadness, poignancy and humor. Putting together something some economically but still with such depth is a talent.

Excellent little series of moments. I can't decide which is best. "One" is particularly gut-wrenching, then "Four" and "Five" have so many stand-out lines: "the helmet and flak jacket sure don't come with coolant fluid", "a few green shoots of hope in this saddest of countries", "He will believe in paradise when he meets his death." and of course Clint putting his ankle out on a root!

This! This. It feels like an ode to deep POV, which you accomplish here marvelously, especially that first one. Kid-voice is not easy to get right.

"They pull their blanket over their head"-breaks my heart. Oh, baby Clint. I want to take you to a safe place. "[W]ondering where his next breath will come from"-breaks my heart again. The things that happened to this boy. He's made his way *through* it now, but he'd never be *over* it.

"[T]he drops sparkle blue and red in the fractured lights coming in from the street"-so pretty, set against the tension of the scene. And I love him for taking only enough money to feed himself. I just ... I love your Clint, in all his incarnations. Really, that's what it comes down to.

Also, chapter five. LOL. Hawkeye misses seeing the tree root. And of course, Natasha knows why. ;)

Oh, and I love how short this is. Economy loveliness.

Yeah, oh is right, How jealous of her are we, and in more ways than one.

It was a good insight into Clint's psyche though :)

"Oh" indeed! I loved that little last segment and acutally, the one before that was a sweet one too. The leathal and competent Hawkeye twisting his ankle 'cause he got distracted by a fine figure of a woman. :) And I love the little glimpses of a pre SHEILD Barton.

Ahh, for the days when people's lives were distilled in carefully preserved photographs.
A sad, painful, funny photographic album with a - let's get back to the relationship - moment at the end.

Interesting takes on the partners.

The first time Clint lost his train of thought was just heartbreaking! But so well written!

The second...loved the glimpse into your idea of the circus and how things with Swordsman went.

Third...heck of a time to develop a conscience! But it was perfect for the character.

Fourth...Yay! Recruitment into SHIELD!

Fifth..."He never sees the root that puts his ankle out of commission for a week." ROFL! I'd love to see Natasha's look after he reports that! WHAT does he say?! LOL!

Natasha's..."Oh." So perfect for an ending!
