This is fantastic! I'd love to see which direction this is heading towards. This first chapter lays a solid foundation and is already very intriguing. You've got a lovely writing tone which is really pleasing, and you paint a delightfully vivid picture of the events. I love how there is some sort of very nuance mutual understanding laden between each line here, and it is really what interests me.
