Really liked your writing - great characterization of Luke. In the vein of constructive criticism, it would have been nice if something had tied the three segments together, but that's just quibbling. Great vignette!

Yes, the voice of Vader saying "son" also made me shiver a little. Which is strange because there is no surprise in it. It just demonstrates the power in the rest of the story.

I enjoyed reading about Luke's reflections on what Ben told him. I especially enjoyed the imagined confrontation between Anakin and Vader. When Ben first tells that story in ANH before ESB and RotJ, that is exactly the sort of image I was thinking of.

It also makes us feel a little deceived by Ben. With Ben speaking half the truth and Yoda speaking in riddles; both deceived Luke and tried to control him.

And perhaps that is why the last word caused such an effect. Because of the three Jedi Luke knows, only Vader told him the truth without riddles or symbolic other meanings.

Loved it! The ending, the one word of "son" gave me chills. It's enough to make me want to see your view of Luke's thoughts as he confronts Vader on the second Death Star. You write Luke very well. :D

I like how Luke wanted blue milk after his nightmares because that's what his aunt gave him when he had them before. Really well-written piece. Thanks for sharing! :)
