Excellent writing, excellent story. The characters are ... themselves. Younger, perhaps less cynical, less scarred, but recognizably themselves. You've made them all come alive, react naturally in their situations. Your young love is breathless and confusing and beautiful and believable. You infuse them with reality, not a stereotype or cliche in sight. Thank you for hours of enjoyment. I have no idea of where you would have taken the plot, but it will be fun to speculate. If Patrick Jane had the courage of his (too often battered conscience) and his feelings, he would escape his father and the carny life then and there. And I doubt Lisbon would feel compelled to bolt from this early love (as she did from Greg in canon). Who knows? With Jane's help, she might not have needed to flee the crushing responsibilities, might have stayed and become a cop near home without the ragged, painful break with her brothers.

Alex Jane is a nasty bit of work isn't he? I feel for Patrick trying to be a decent person with this type of parental influence in his life. I'm really hoping he finds a way to screw his father over and stay with his lovely fake grandmother and Teresa. I love how you've written Mrs Ruskin in earlier chapters and I hope we see more of her, but Patrick's relationship with Teresa is my absolute favourite thing in this story. Its sweet but realistic, natural and shaded by the sometimes harsh realities of their early lives. His thoughts and feelings about her and his fear for her safety all felt very much in character. You write beautifully and have a great feel for the show's characters, but you're equally good with your own creations like Mrs Ruskin and Lisbon' family. Thanks for another great chapter.

I love this story. There's a tendency for high school AU's to be badly written but this is an exception- its really wonderful. The relationship between Patrick and Theresa has developed very sweetly and realistically. I'm worried for poor Theresa when Patrick leaves- and his fake grandmother too. She's a great character and her crying alone at night was so sad. Also- I love Black Dahlia- your filler :) so if you have the time or inclination to update that too I'd be very happy. Thanks for writing.

I swear Jane and Lisbon meeting in highschool is the thing that was missing from my life.. I love it so much! Please keep writing, Id love to see where your story goes!
